1. Clever doggie you have there Hmmm. :) Give her a hug from me. Courtnek- The stifle is the knee (that bit on the dog's hind leg that kinda sticks out, but I guess you could work that out  :) )
2. I don't like people who try to preach at me- unfortunately this applies to every single JW that has come to my door. :-? I don't care if one is religious- that's fine- but I *do* care if it's shoved down my throat (and I can't think of any other religion than the JWs who doorknock). Appreciate that we are all different and that's what makes us all special, including the right to decide ourselves if we're religious or not. I don't think guest being a "guest" and not "one of us" has anything to do with it either ie. of one of "us" had said it, it would still be offensive to some. However, IMO political correctness has gone too far; it will one day get to the stage where we'll have to seal our lips up to avoid offending anyone :)
3. No... and this post is 18 months old.... :-?
4. you already ARE nuts  This is the other topic: http://forum.dogomania.com/viewtopic.php?t=11397 it is along a similar vein :)
5. Lucky, did you get mixed up with the thread in "new members..."?
6. I am happy that the situation has resolved and poor PJ is at rest.

Calling Aroura... :D
8.
BTW, I agree with Kiwi in that I have issues with SRC and the whole BYB thing. I don't approve of it, either, and I think she's an irresponsible breeder (though I do believe that she loves and otherwise takes good care of her dogs). But I just think that each thread should be dealt with individually, especially if (as in this case) the thread in question doesn't directly involve the poster and their own dogs.
well said :) What has happened to that poor old dog???? Would like an update please.
9. DP- I so know how you feel- working dogs such as BCs are meant to be lean- how else would they be able to run around all day herding sheep? I think there needs to be as big a campaign on canine obesity as there is on human obesity. It's a huge problem.
10. Most of you know he is edging towards 9 years of age and has shifted down a gear (only one, mind you  ) in terms of hyperactivity (a good thing :D ). He went to the vet for his annual visit/vacc and the vet said he was perfect! Fit, healthy, well-behaved (obviously she doesn't live with him) and exactly the same weight he's been for the last seven years or so. His weight does fluctuate in between, mainly because of the weather, how much exercise he gets, and who sneaks him treats on the side  I am really happy that he's in good shape because he *is* getting old and I can't stand the thought of losing him yet. Here's to another 9 years BK! :drinking:
11. Why do all the exciting things happen when I'm too busy to get onto the board? Complete and total mudslinging anarchy is the only way to describe this thread. It's getting locked! PS. I really like those chocolate Lindt balls. :D
12. I thought what they said about Australian Cattle Dogs was fairly accurate. The ACD (bk is half ACD) is recommended for only older considerate children. A full-blooded ACD I could understand, they can be bitey and will nip people to get them into line to "herd" them. However BK is great with little kids, the only thing I'd worry about with them is he's big and boisterous and could easily knock a small child over (hell, he's knocked ME over and I'm no lightweight  ).
13. http://www.acacanines.com/breeds/BAsset%20Artesien%20Normand.htm This link should work. alternatively just type "basset artesian normand" into Google. It is a page of info about them with a button to click on to find a puppy in your area. (if you're in the US I assume.) I have no idea about the quality of the breeders but maybe with a rare breed BYBing/puppy milling isn't such a huge problem... anyway good luck! they are lovely dogs! :) edit- artesian seems to also be spelled artesien (probably French spelling?)
14. I wouldn't have a clue what a "good" cat food is. IMO, a good cat food is one that Lily will eat!!! And even that depends on her mood!!!  She does, however, have a fetish for Whiskas Cravers dry food... naturally, because they only come in tiny packs at AUD$3 a pop and she goes through several packets a week (none of the big boxes of cat food for HER.  ). Also Fancy Feast, but only the tiny, expensive sachets, not the tins.  We tried her on some high-end cat food and she refused to touch it. Even Brodie (next door's cat who eats anything) wouldn't eat it. :D Lily does like raw meat (salmon mince, cooked chicken, etc). She has also taken to dragging Lizie's unfinished bones around the backyard while Lizie (my sister's border collie) watches forlornly- Lizie, who is about ten times the size of Lily, is scared of her.
15. Very cute!
16. BK doesn't get chocolate, why should he wait when he can steal it? That relates to a story from his puppyhood. My sister had her Easter stash hidden in her room one day. We stupidly left BK inside for about an hour while we went to visit my grandpa. We came back and he had found her stash of chocolates and had eaten all the really good ones and left the crappy ones.  Luckily he had no ill effects from it.
17. Well said Courtnek :) Annie is really your dog now, Goo. If you can get it in writing, so much the better.
18. Poor Meg- she must have been petrified. :( I agree with the others Kat- your quick thinking probably saved her from being physically hurt. Give her a big hug from me!
19. LOL, dogs are too funny sometimes  Tomson (dachshund) watches Inspector Rex (an Austrian detective show starring Rex, a German Shepherd). All you need to do it say "where's Rex?" and he'll go and jump up on the TV. When Rex is on TV and he's whining or barking, Tomson will do the same thing... then he goes behind the TV to look for Rex. It's the funniest thing ever!!! BK used to get excited about dogs on the TV, but he doesn't anymore; whether it's because he's figured it out or he's just matured, I'll never know. :)
20. I love working dogs (heelers, collies, kelpies, dobes, shepherds etc), it is so awesome to see dogs work rather than just just be a companion (not that there's anything at all wrong with that, but to see a dog using its brain and body like humans is incredible!). I also love Weimaraners for their colour, streamlined body and general appearance- how superficial am I  I really love all dogs but some breeds just really appeal to me. I am also a big mutt fan, I have seen some amazing looking and behaving mutts (BK and Lizie to name two, not that I'm biased   ).
21. Like a lot of people I was born into a life of dogs. We always had dogs, always. So I grew up with them, starting with our family dogs, Tessy the Cocker and Nobby the Basset. I'd always wanted to be a vet ever since I knew what one was, and my friend Devon and I were going to do a James Herriot and set up a practice in the English countryside.  Then in year 11 we got Blitzkrieg and I got addicted to heelers and working dogs in general. BK also helped me develop a love of shelter dogs, mutts and exercise- the energy levels between a Basset, whose favourite activity is sleeping (with eating a close second), and a heeler X who favourite activity is tearing round the park for two hours are vastly different .
22. Tinkerbell will be waiting at the bridge for you Duke.
23. Oh that is so sad. I'm crying. RIP dear Rio and hugs to you Ellie
24. Hi Crested :) Nice to see you again. How are your two little munchins doing? :P
