1. weird. however there are sick people out there who get their kicks from harming animals (as we all well know). Hopefully you can find out what sort of pills they are. Is there any way to monitor events? eg camera
2. *sticks hand up* OK I admit it, I'm the terrible human being who does all these things. NOT. Go away and troll elsewhere please, or at least make your posts a little more explanatory. :evilbat:
3. Wow what great news! congrats HF!!
4. I remember watching this on tv last year- it was fascinating. :) go the ABC! :D
5. Yep that works, cheers :) the sooner that asinine show gets dropped, the better. Problem is he's something of an aussie icon, at least to the average punter. :x
6. Thanks for explaining :) I think we will agree to disagree. :P There is not much that would turn me in favour of ear cropping. The only reason I would consider strong enough to do *anything* cosmetic to an animal would be for health reasons. Same as for people. :) LOL I can just imagine BK walking round with a face full of Botox to get rid of his wrinkles! :D
7. Poor guy! He doesn't exactly look pleased with you. :) I hope he recovers soon. I still don't understand why ears are cropped... imo it's a fairly cruel and unnecessary thing to do to a dog. I'm not having a go at you, I honestly don't get it.
8. I can't read the article nor access it on a Google search... can you tell me what it was about? that b*stard was just on the telly tonight roadtesting his beloved designer dogs (labradoodles) and denigrating anything that hasn't come from his alleged puppy farms.
9. Awwwww- Cassie is SO cute. I LOVE her ears! Me likey :)
10. Those pics are really cute... but I think it's sad... those animals should be left in the wild.
11. I bet the person who wrote this is now lurking under a bridge waiting for angry replies... :evilbat:

Mix

Nobody here is against mixed breed dogs- in fact there are several people including myself who have a mutt. It is reasonable to assume that the majority of mixed breed dogs brought into the world are the product of a) accidents (whereby people who don't/won't desex their dogs allow them to roam and be impregnated or impregnate another dog), and b) deliberate crossbreeding to capitalise on a trend and make money (however this happens with purebreds too- 101 Dalmatians is a good eg). I honestly can't see any other reason to produce crossbred dogs unless it's for money. If you want the kids to experience the joy of birth let them watch a video of a live human birth- that will scare them off babies for life.
13. Oh no!! what horrible news. I am so, so sorry to hear of Holly's passing... hugs to you and Boomer...
14. My uncle speaks to BK and Tomson in German, always has. They seem to understand it, in fact my uncle is the only person who gets BK's undivided attention and obedience (mainly because he doesn't put up with BK's preciousness  ), obviously the rest of us need to brush up on our language skills. :D
15. Oh I'm so sorry pitgal! RIP Brax
16. Good luck!!!
17. I know where you are coming from, pi's ma... but people who want a certain type of dog should be entitled to one which is of a high standard- predictable in size, coat type, weight, feeding requirements, and temperament. These considerations are very important to some people when thinking of buying a dog, and so they should be. :) If you got rid of all the crap breeders out there and every non-breeding dog was desexed, then there wouldn't be a problem.
18. Welcome everyone :) I have a blue heeler/border collie/something else X, BK, who is approaching the nine year mark. Even in his retirement age he is a handful, but in a good way. :) I also have two 12 week old kittens, a tortie called Isabella and a tabby called Ferdinand. (I promise to post more pics of them soon guys. )
19. And if he *does* know what he's missing you can always purchase fake balls... no joke...
20. I would personally welcome more people into the world if they had "issues" like my fellow forum members... who are devoted to their dogs and other people's dogs and dogs they don't even know because guess what, they love dogs and know how to care for them, unlike some of the more ignorant population.
21. I wish they would spend more of their energy pursuing people have done the wrong thing rather than the right thing. Courtnek- you have taken on a huge challenge with Laurel and transformed her from a scared, fearful little creature into a happy, slowly more confident dog- with a lot of hard work. You should be proud!! And you can pass that onto them and tell them to stick their bullsh*t big talk up where the sun don't shine. :evilbat:
22. I'm only putting it here because nobody really checks out the petitions page  Permission to crosspost Don't buy pets from pet shops while homeless animals die! Resist the temptation to buy that gorgeous kitten or puppy in the window. Because this lucrative pet shop market exists, backstreet breeders and "puppy mills" continue to churn out more and more poor puppies and kittens, whilst thousand of unwanted animals are killed at the pounds every year. Thousands of innocent animals are put to death every year in Australia simply because too many are bred and there are not enough caring homes. Our mission is to: Educate all potential pet owners why they shouldn't buy their companion animals from pet shops Lobby Federal and State Government to ban the sale of animals in pet shops Cute, small breeds such as this one are always put in pet shop windows to attract children and impulsive buyers. Pet shop owners are interested in making money, after all, they are running a business. They are not primarily concerned with educating their buyers in properly caring for their new pets or in taking responsibility for their wellbeing. And so, new owners go home and soon realise that owning a pet is not all fun and games or as easy as it seemed. Many abandon their pets when the novelty wears off, and these gorgeous little puppies and kittens are now homeless in a pound awaiting a death sentence. Of course not all pound dogs and cats were originally bought from pet shops and discarded, but from discussions with pounds and rescue centres, we believe that many were. Because this pet shop market exists, backstreet breeders and "puppy mills" continue to churn out more and more poor puppies and kittens, whilst thousands are being killed at the pounds every year. 23. I've still got BK's (puppy) teeth and always planned to make jewellery out of them, but never have got around to it. *insert weirdo icon here* It's a novel idea and I hope that it's illustrated to the ordinary person what sheer hell a puppymill is as well as publicising the good work rescues do.
24. Yeah you are doing something wrong- spanking her and rubbing her nose in it aren't going to do a thing to deter her- dogs don't understand if you punish them more than a few seconds after the act and just end up fearing you instead. It's certainly not that she's stupid as in "block head"- she's a baby and it is up to to teach her the correct way of toileting- try to intervene she's doing the wrong thing, and praise her when she does the right thing. There are several methods of toilet training available in books and on the net.
25. That makes me want to simultaneously cry and hit someone.
