1. Stuck! No, I can't think of anything else, that list is pretty comprehensive plus I have no idea about showing dogs. 8)
2. Congratulations Cassie!!! :bday: :bday: :bday:
3. Agree... there seem to be two trolls operating in this thread... :evilbat:
4. Very cute pictures, I like Staffies but I have to say I LOOVE Kelpies, especially black ones!!! Do you use your Kelpie for work or is she a pet? :)
5. Well done  That dog may not be alive today if it weren't for your efforts. What are you going to have if you don't have a pizzle? Weirdo. :P
6. Hi there :) I wouldn't be too concerned; I don't think toothpaste is that bad for dogs (but don't quote me on this). I have brushed my dog's teeth with people toothpaste before and he's still kicking :P however I know you can get doggy toothpaste that's flavoured with chicken and stuff which might be more palatable. I prefer to give him a nice big raw bone than get in his mouth and fiddle with a toothbrush and I think he prefers it too, surprise surprise!
7. HF I am sorry that Devin's quality of life seems to be declining. Only you know what is best for him and all I can say is that I support whatever route you take. :) He is such a cutie though  BYBers who may be lurking take note: Devin is a (sadly) good example of why indiscriminate breeding sucks.
8. You know, I'm getting a bit sick of this argument. Is it possible you can agree to disagree? I'm not trying to boss anyone around or dictate what should be said, and the argument is not personal or anything (so it won't be locked LOL) but it just seems to be going in circles. I know I shouldn't read things that annoy me but really... :drinking: thanks akber! your post is the one that makes the most sense!
9. What you have recommended sounds good. I don't have anything else to add except that I hope it works out well for your big old polar bear :)
10. ALL of MY animals came from a shelter. that is my choice and i certainly do not deride anyone who chooses otherwise. Piss off troll.
11.   @ LC "A South Australian Health Commission study found that German Shepherd, Bull Terrier, Doberman, Rottweiler and Blue Heeler dogs were the most written about in dog bites. " I know this bit is true- in SA, German Shepherds had the most recorded dog bites. The rest of it is a load of crap. If said troll contnues to flout the user agreement they will be banned. :evilbat:
12. WB Angel!!!! I can't see the pics either.
13. I dunno K, would it really make much difference? :P I guess it couldn't hurt... and anyone coming here to start trouble can be easily directed to them if needed...?
14. I can't really see the problem here. People are posting their (however unpopular) opinions and i think that is excellent. There is nothing worse than a board where free speech is seen as akin to treason. However if you set yourself up to be crucified it's no bother to me. 'Primorse' and her mythical dog breeds (and the cash payment!?) is a good eg. I don't care what breed of dog she has but if she is going to continually mention her refusal to mention it then hell it's fair game for people to jump on it. Especially when one isn't a member so it can be argued in private. As for the murky origins of this board, that is something I have no control over. Personally I would be happy to move the board to another location, but if I were to get rid of everything in my life because aspects of its production or its place of origin and its practices offended me I wouldn't be drinking Coke, eating meat, driving a car, or buying anything made in most countries around the world. PS the ad is ridiculous and should be pulled. :P
15. Uh-oh, have I missed another troll war?? I haven't seen a lot of troll action in the past week or so but that could be because I've not had a lot of time to get on here. I would like to think that Dogo is a board made up of helpful [insert nice adjectives here] people. A few annoying trolls will hopefully not spoil things too much. Dissent is healthy, how boring it would be if we all thought the same way. On the other hand, as courtnek said, the personal attacks that often progress from arguments will not be tolerated. Adults should be able to argue without name-calling and other assorted petty behaviours. Find another playground kiddies. :evilbat: K, is there a way we can get people to agree to a user agreement when they sign up (if that hasn't already been implemented)? I know we have one but if I recall correctly it's kinda buried :) Or even if the user agreement gets moved to EAD with a heading "Important: User Agreement- Please Read" or something to that effect, I don't know.
16. Yes, GOOD hunters are an asset. My great grandpa was the last person in a long line of hunters hunting with real hunting dogs (English Pointers) which he bred for the dog's original purpose. It was apparently always the done thing to get a few rabbits (or whatever game you're after): for the family and for the next door neighbour as well. In our family at least it was a generational thing- great grandad did it to provide food for his family and because it was a family tradition, then as the family got more urban and wealthier and didn't need to hunt to survive, the need for it disappeared and ended with his death some years ago. I don't think human hunting is an oxymoron done in an effective manner. A single shot to the head which kills the animal instantly couldn't be inhumane. Unless there is a so-called "thrill" of the chase which appears to be so terrifying for the hunted is the inhumane bit. I don't mean to anthropomorphise but it's difficult to see that a small animal such as a rabbit being chased by a huge hairy dog would find it pleasant. Is it possible to hunt/kill without having a chase or would it depend on the quarry? I'm a little undecided about hunting, I guess it needs to be done to eradicate introduced pests like pigs and rabbits, and I can accept that it is a hobby for some (and a source of food for others), but it has the potential to be so cruel and damaging. I think I would cry and then throw up if I had ever gone hunting with my great grandpa, but I'm a wuss :P
17. Oh no  I am sending lots of positive thoughts your way Kendalyn....
18.
hunting is not exactly inhumane, providing the hunter is skilled. With today's high powered hunting rifles, it's easy to kill the animal instantly, with one shot. I dont however believe in siccing a dog on the animal, except to trap it or corner it, but not to rip it apart. that is truly inhumane.
Agree. Problem is that some hunters aren't skilled and there are also problems with culling eg with past kangaroo culls here in vic. I have nothing against hunting provided it's done as humanely as possible. The drought coupled with a huge roo population have resulted in culling by shotgun. however the hunters weren't the best and many poor roos were left to die agonising, prolonged deaths, and the baby joeys of the slain mothers (absolutely no discretion in the culling whatsoever) were of course unable to fend for themselves and either starved to death or ended up food for other predators. :x Not to mention the cruelty of siccing a dog onto another animal, what if the dog itself gets injured? I don't know a lot about pigs but they have very nasty looking hooves! And a trapped kangaroo can do a LOT of damage to any animal who gets too close.
19. Using dogs to hunt wild pigs is common in Australia. I don't know if I agree with hunting but the pigs are pests and need to be eradicated, though I spose there are more humane ways to do it, I don't know. There was a poster here who used to do it (Artful Dodger), some of his posts may still be around if you do a search.
20. Izzy, your kindness and sense of decency is something we should probably all strive for; I know I could certainly do with an ounce of your caring nature :) RIP poor little street doggie
21.
Yup, Dex can clear a room out with his farts. Its so funny, cause he will let one go, then he turns and checks out his bum kind of like "Where did that come from??"
ROFL that's exactly what Blitz does!!!!!! When he looks round it's at everyone else in the room as if to say "which one of you did that???" rather than admitting he did it, of course. It's not so bad when he's outside but if he is inside on the couch nice and relaxed, they just keep coming out with a little "pwah" sound. Lizie is the worst, she's such a tomboy, she farts and burps at every opportunity. I almost feel like giving her the tv remote and a stubby so she can be a real bloke
22. I know it's not dog-related but I did post the original story here a few weeks ago, here is an update (typed straight from The Age newspaper 3/6/04): Queensland police will appeal against the fines imposed on six Townsville-based soldiers who tortured and killed a litter of kittens. Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson said yesterday he believed the fines were an inadequate penalty and an appeal had been lodged in Townsville. Last month, the soldiers pleaded guilty in the Townsville Magistrates' Court to charges of cruelty to animals and were fined $2000 each. Magistrate David Glasgow ruled that convictions would not be recorded against them. Each of the soldiers, aged 19 to 26, also undertook to do 100 hours of community service at Townsville's animal refuge, but the RSPCA rejected the offer. The soldiers dragged one of the kittens behind a motorcycle then crushed it under the tyre of a vehicle. Three other kittens were doused with fuel and set alight. I hope these sick bastards get what they deserve... I completely fail to understand who wuld get off on such a heinous act. I am pleasantly surprised the police are pushing for a greater punishment (what that would be I don't know), that is fantastic news. Hopefully this will be the start of a trend for more severe penalties for people who abuse animals. I did send an outraged email to the embattled defence minister who is in enough trouble with other matters at the moment. I certainly won't be dancing on his grave when his govt loses the election *fingers crossed*.
23. One dog- Blitzkrieg (BK, Blitz, Blitzi, bubsy, little boy, etc etc), 9yo male desexed blue heeler/border collie/something else cross. Adopted from the shelter at 6 mths. Hyperactive, muscle-bound, boisterous, intelligent, loyal, lovely, tough but sooky dog who is only just beginning to slow down! Lives at my dad's house and used to also live with me, both when I was out of home and when I was younger living with dad. Two cats- Isabella and Ferdinand, both about 4 months. Live with me at mum's house. Isabella is a tortie and Ferdy is a tabby. Both of them are Trouble with a capital T! They're in that adventurous, mischeivous stage where anyone and anything is fair game to be pounced on, explored, scratched at, tossed around and so on. Ferdy is the most gigantic sook in the world, if you like sloppy kitten kisses and having your head kept warm as you sleep by his fat little tummy he is the guy for you. Bella is a sook too but she pales in comparison to Buddha (Ferdy). Bella likes to sit on my lap as I play on the computer or right in front of the screen so I can't see what I'm typing, I'm sure she does it so I have to pay attention to her to get her to move.
24. A friend of mine has always has King Chas Cavaliers- her first two, Lady and Dimple, lived long, happy and pampered lives. One of them was blind and also had diabetes in the later years of her life, the other one went deaf. Apart from that they were very sweet-natured dogs always looking for a cuddle. The thrid one she has now, Daisy, was a rescue. She did have some behavioural issues but they have been ironed out with training and attention and love. this same friend also had a cat who lived to be 23! :o
25. How immature can one woman be?? SRC if you are by chance reading this to see all the nasty things the "mob" is saying about you... well, read on. Good riddance to you and your ilk. I hope that you choose to stop breeding your dogs for the silly reasons you have stated. 'Attacks' on your views and on the breeding quality of your dogs are not attacks on your character and untli you learn that every forum is going to pose a problem for you. I hope the honest opinions of well-meaning people here have made you realise how flimsy your posts have been about certain issues. I also hope that you realise that this forum is NOT your personal stage for you to act out your dramas and I for one am sick of your hysterics. I am not normally harsh towards people but your melodrama and lies are very irritating. I also hope you learn to spell I R A Q. Four letters and you keep calling it 'over there'.
Admin, please let me know if I can post them.
I don't have a problem with it as long as K and Mei don't. It doesn't seem to constitute a personal attack on her (not that it matters as she has departed. *sob*)
