There is this adorable Neo that lives near me. He's always hanging out either on the front verandah/balcony (it's a 2 storey terrace house), or when his owners are home, he lies across the front door, half in half out. Sooo cute! :angel:

BK was the only dog we ever took to obedience class and he was 7 when he started. :o We trained him ourselves but I found the classes good fun for both of us. I certainly benefited from the things I learned while there (I have no time to go anymore!! :cry: but I still enforce the stuff I learned there :D ). Not to say the other dogs didn't need obedience class- it would have been fantastic for all of them- but I honestly never thought of it until last year when I joined here and became that much more crazy about dogs. :oops: :wink:

Your little boy will be fine... try to relax, i know it's hard (I was stressed when Lily got spayed :oops: :roll: :D ). It'll all be good! BK only goes to the vet once a year for checkup and shots, he's never had to go in for any other reason (touch wood!). The consults are reasonably priced and the care is excellent (not to mention the very cute Irish vet!). 8)

Bear in mind I am pretty sure Aroura and Malamum are talking Aussie dollars, which are equivalent to about 66 US cents. :) What bloodwork do you have to do, Aroura? BK has never had a blood test in his life, I don't know whether that's a good or bad thing. :oops:

Oh no... this is horrible news... Sharpeigirl I'm so sorry you had to go through the stress of having Sassy go missing and now the sadness of her being injured. My thoughts are with you and I'm hoping that Sassy pulls through this as well as she can. :angel:

I wouldn't recommend an australian cattle dog (acd, blue or red heeler as they are also called) for an apartment. Mine would go insane if he was inside all day- and I'd feel bad leaving him in too- he LOVES being outside and able prance around doing what we call "important dog business". :roll: :lol: Black GSD, I would say ACDs are one of the most stubborn breeds out there!! Or maybe they make 'em different where you are. :lol: Also ACDs have a high prey drive, you would have to do some work on making sure the guinea pigs didn't end up becoming breakfast. :wink: Aroura really said it for me- these dogs have brains and energy in spades and if you don't create fun for them they'll create their own... :evilbat: I don't think I would recommend a BC either to be honest. They are really tough dogs that are born to work 12 hours a day and are quite similar to the ACD in that they are smart and energetic and need stuff to do otherwise suffer the consequences. But I suppose it depends on just how much time you are willing to put into looking after one. Blitzkrieg was named by my dad and uncle (we sat around for AGES trying to figure out a name, I came up with Vince but it just didn't sit right :-? ), they have a wine club called Blitzkrieg. In German it also means "lightning attack" or "lightning war" and no, we are not a pack of neo-Nazis. :P The name has so far proven to suit him to a T. :roll: He gets called a lot of things: Blitz, Blitzy, Blitzen, BK, Bubby, Bubsy, my little boy, fatso (he could lose a couple kgs and he has a big bum!!), and so on... Rin-Tin-Tin (our old German Shepherd who died earlier this yr) was named of course after the most famous German Shepherd of them all. He also got called a number of names- Rin, Rinny, Rinnypoos, Fluffy, Boofhead, old man, little man, Rinnykins, Rinnybubs... Lily the kitten was named by my mum. She said Lily if it was a girl, or Lloyd if it was a boy. She gets called princess, queen, lilykins, lilypilly, petal, petal pie, little sook...

Oh dear what a horrible experience. :cry: I really feel for you and Senor, crossing my fingers that he doesn't get pts, but at least he had a few hours where someone cared for him. :angel:

BK we believe is part Border Collie and he doesn't play with toys at all...it is a struggle to get him to "take" his barbell for obedience... when he was younger though he just destroyed everything indiscriminately. :roll:
