  9. ....and of course they still use the old traditional methods of leeches and maggots :P
  10. Agreed. Dogs can sense chemical signals and imbalances which can upset their behaviour. If even to put your own mind at risk perhaps suggest to her that she could go for a check-up?
  11. awww I've read this before and it really is very sad but heartful.
  12. hes a gorgeous big lad :D

  14. lol on the spayed issue, we always got people in asking for their pet to be sprayed  the other one is "can i get my dog nuttered?".. to that I have to bite my tongue hard to stop myself saying you're the one thats the nutter
  15. I'm sorry to hear of your sad loss truly I am. If your dog was on this other dogs territory then there is a lesson to be learned from this and I am sure that I don't need to dictate to you as you are grieving. Dogs should be kept on their own turf and under control. If they cross into another dogs territory regardless of breed, that territorial dog will do what comes naturally...that is to harm or kill and penultimately it will not be the jaws of the other dog that will be responsible for the offending dog(s) death.
  16. .....all that terminator crap he played... he is now putting it into action again only this time its for real
  17. sent you a private message terra with regards to your query
  18. I think its something to do with the fur and they can't attach or navigate as easily as they can to skin, and also to do with carbon dioxide levels in the blood which leeches can sense. I know thats not a very scientific explanation but I can't remember the exact details of it all.
  19. I could do that to Meg even though she wouldn't steal in the first place but my Golden Zoe is a different story and she is very possessive over anything she steals... at the age of 13 :o
  20. hmmm thsi is very interesting indeed. Its coming up to the twelfth fortnight in N.Ireland where we have fireworks let off and Zoe goes bonkers so I will try find the extract and melatonin tablets and tell my parents to give them a whirl, as I will be away in Netherlands then. Thanks for the info.
  21. Meg would get called puppy-bear or puppy wolf. Zoe would get Mrs Goggins (from postman pat lol), Abby my wee scottish wild cat is sweetnie kitten-pie factory on the wind
  22. well this guy I feel is to blame more than any other person. He should have intervened when the female friend started to chastise the dog. Dogs are so emotional and that imbalance of emotion will tip them over the edge and result in a display of aggressive behaviour which the dog as you said began to show signs of. He is responsible fo his own dog so ultimately I hold him responsible and no you are not being irrational and if you want to repeat what I said here then go for it so he has a guilt trip and will think twice about treating another dog the way he did. He let that dog down and that was cruel even though it wasn't physical beating. Sometimes emotional cruelty in my eyes is just as bad a crime.
  23. certainly that wee lad looks full of terrier spirit
  24. She is a very pretty puppy, but when the time is right then the right puppy will come your way. You have Coal to love in the meantime. Be thankful that you have a great dog to live with.
  25. :D You all have wonderful dogs that are loved and taken care of so well and it is lovely to read each individual story :fadein:
