1. Mutts isn't it ironic how people need a licence to keep a dog, but yet here also they can have a wolf/tiger/other wild animal and not need a licence. Its something that we have campaigned on over here for years to get a wild animals act introduced into N.Ireland. It amazes me how blind the law can be sometimes.
2. he sounds like a right plonker! Glad that hes outta there and away from the doggies :D
3. awwwk look at her wee precious face! Poor wee lassie crying alone with nobody to care for her until Izzy came along. You are fab Izzy! :fadein:
4. oh geeze please don't get me started on that place again!
5. weird but a nice ending I think. :o
6. I forgot to say earlier Longer, welcome to the group! :D Congrats on your new furbabe and we will look forward to seeing her pics as she grows
7. I have came across that "dog breed info" site before and personally think its very badly written and falsified with a lot of incorrect information. As for Border collies coming in the colours described on that site... BS.. just look at the variety of colours that we recently described. I wouldn't go by that site or rely too heavily on it at all.
8. This was actually already posted a few days back by DL.
9. yep she does look like a GSD x beagle/lab maybe. I handreared a pup very like her called Rileigh whose name then later changed to Barney.
10. Terra I have great respect for you as do many other members on this board for asking when you needed advice or were unsure to make sure that your puppy is a healthy and happy little furbutt. Enjoy her and we will look forward to hearing about her adventures and sharing her photos too. You are doing a great job with her and are being a very responsible owner. :fadein:
11. LOL super pics! :D
12. well the breed is a banned breed in the UK so unfortunately there isn't a great deal that can be done here certainly not in the near future. I think they can be a nice breed in the right hands, but on the other side of the story, there are currently 2 pit bulls at the USPCA centre that cannot be trusted. They are basically on death row and as soon as the court case involving their ownership is determined, they will be put to death. Sad I know but they are dogs that could never ever be rehomed and to keep them in a cage all their lives is more cruel than euthanaisa. Now I am not against the breed and have dealt with many undercover cases where we busted pit bull fighting rings, but to be honest I can't see the breed having a future within the UK. Fight for the breed and do what you can in American and Canada and any other country because the more BSL I see and hear about via the doggy forums, the more I fear that the overall geographic distribution of the breed is in jeopardy.
13. aww Crystal you're a star for giving him a wee warm bed. Looking forward to seeing pics :D
14. poor puppy... update us when you can Crystal

BABIES

aww yeah you can't post without having pics! :P
17. confession... you aren't the only one DL... bleating at goats and getting a reply or even a conversation is fun too :P ooh and of course howling when Im up with the wolves is amazing and yipping away with them makes me feel close to my kindred spirit :D Sander just either walks on or tells me Im crazy but they definitely understand! :o  My favourite game when I was young was making animal noises and umm well it hasn't changed. There is something about howling on a full moon when you are on a desserted beach with your partner at midnight
18. most of the Rotties that we saw at the surgery were so laid back and sloppy. To be honest I've come across few that weren't friendly, most have been a great nature and its highly unfair why they also get bad press.
19. awk Zebra you poor little man. Hope hes feeling better now Star  Give him a big hug and you will make him all feel better
20. either you have a very incompetent vet or your bitch wasn't spayed at the right time. Spaying a bitch in season or just after they come out of/into season can produce false follicular heats or pseudo-pregnancies. Either way you need to get your vet to assess your bitch and ensure that she isn't pregnant via examination/ultra-sound. Also if your male isn't neutered then really you should have him done asap to avoid not only unwanted puppies and male behaviour, but also more serious health risks like testicular and prostate cancers. good luck and keep us posted on how things progress
21. :D Excellent news to hear about lyra :D
22. aww no Border Collies either. I wouldn't have a baldy how to make one anyway... only needle and thread im good with is catgut or vicryl and a needle to suture up an animal
23. By allowing a male to mate is not only going to elevate his desire to mate but it will also enhance his hormones and future matings will be desired to which he will go to extreme lengths for like escaping. Apart from the obvious unwanted puppies scenario, think about the increased chances of the unneutered dog getting testicular or prostate cancer alog with being in an unfit state of health with a metabolism that is too rapid to allow the dog to retain substantial carbohydrates and lipids. As a side note yes BC's certainly come in a wide variety of colours in all varieties that you can possibly imagine. Recently I saw a beautiful lemon and white flecked BC bitch. this is a link to the BC museum of colours. http://www.gis.net/~shepdog/BC_Museum/
24. He looks like he needs some decent weight on him the big lad. He looks to be a lot on the skinny side for a St Bernard. What was his history?
