  1. It depends on legislation. If she isn't required to have any legal certificates for nutrition/behaviour/grooming etc then she is within her right to advertise. I don't know the woman so I can't really comment.
  2. You should really avoid any sort of chemical around the puppy as you must bewar in mind that a Yorkie will have very tiny lungs and would need only a few inhalations of a noxious chemical to do damage. If you really need to clean the carpet keep the pup out of that particular room for a few days. Congrats with your new furbabe :fadein:
  3. lol brilliant! :D
  4. You have a very small breed and he is in a new scary environment taken away from his Mum and his siblings. Just for now put the collar on his neck and let him wear it about the house. Crouch down to his level and call his name and reward him with a small tidbit when he comes to you. You must make sure that everything is positive for him in his exercise so use a lot of praise and tell how good he is. Use a light weight nylon lead and before you put it onto the collar just let him sniff it and let him get used to what it is so that it isn't a big surprise. Attach the lead and again crouch down and call him but keep the lead very very slack. Praise and reward him again. Repeat this exercise and every now and again when the puppy is coming towards you, give the lead a light gentle tug. Keep doing this and soon he will be walking on his lead with no problems.
  5. welcome back to the gang! :D
  6. yep indeed BC's come in every colour imaginable. We had a lilac merle bitch at my agility class recently and she was stunning. :D
  7. I would go 17-20 if it is an adjustable type collar Nea.
  8. excellent work Jetta :D
  9. very cute merle tri's and looking forward to seeing some pics of Wolfie as he grows up! I'm after a chocolate and red tricolour bitch for my next BC pup but first Sander and I have to get a proper apartment/house to live in which may take a wee while unfortunately :-?
  10. Hi there, AMYL tests for the level of ketones, presuming that its the same abbreviation that we used at our vet clinic. High levels of ketones are associated with diabetes and are made if the body isn't producing enough glucose or insulin.
  11. Happy whelping day BK! :bday:
  12. very sweet and good name choice
  13. Some dogs will just always go berserk when they get into a surgery and no amount of desensitisation will unfortunately change that if it is set in the dogs mind. The vet was wrong to take your dog from you in my opinion just for a procedure of nail clipping. Perhaps it may be time to change to a new vet if you are in doubt and unsatisfied?
  14. Hope all works out for taurus. What has been tested are complete blood counts to detect any signs of any blood disorder from anaemia to a clotting problem to autoimmunity diseases. Also I notice that a lot of liver enzymes have been tested for. Paws crossed that you find the root of his problem.
  15. looking good so far :fadein:
  16. frontline or alcohol!
  17. lol skunked! Poor laddie
  18. `Playing with the paws in a desensitisation exercise is super. Bring treats along with you and ask the vet to give a treat. If you have good relations with your vet even make a habit of just going past the vets door progressing to inside the vet surgery. Ask the vet or an assistant to treat the dog but do no examination. At the surgery where I worked we had a jar of tasty treats and I have to be honest and say that on the whole most dogs didn't mind coming into us. There was one boxer actually who was with his owner in the park across from our surgery and one summer the big lig darted from the park across the road to the surgery and put both front paws on the table! Thats how much he liked his vet visits lol
  19. Congrats on the newest addition :D It sounds like Kyle and Ford have really bonded
  20. I personally don't think that it would cause an increase in deaf dogs at all. There is a wonderful deaf BC bitch that competed in the Crufts bitch championships a few years ago and I know a fair few that compete in agility too. Its BS not to let a deaf dog compete. Signed # 468.
  21. you didn't state what age your dog is. A younger pup will adapt easier to a crate than an older dog but with an older dog the same rules apply. Leave the crate open for him to explore and keep it in one place. Let your dog go in and out as he pleases and when he is in it praise him. Gradually get to the point where you close the door and treat him. Open the cage again but don't make a big fuss over the scenario. Its just a matter of him getting acclimitised to it, but with patience on your behalf he will get the idea. Good luck. :fadein:
  22. switch to a ceramic or stainless steel bowl as plastic can harbour bacteria and other sorts of nasties. Fuciderm or dermisol cream are great for clearing this sort of infection up. Also wipe your dogs mouth with a baby wipe after Abby eats.
  23. That made interesting but sad reading. How awful espeially for a Golden who is such a happy carefree life-loving dog to have that soul taken away from him.
