why dogs dont live as long as people....TISSUE WARNING
imported_Kat replied to courtnek's topic in Everything about dogs
I read this on another board yesterday but its a lovely lesson to be taught. -
A proper doggy party if he has doggy friends with doggy party games and doggy food (and of course supplies for the humans!). We always have a Christmas party at our dogclub so i can give you some ideas of games if you want.

Erin, I certainly wouldn't want to see you and your Jack pack leave Dogo. The RnP subject is extremely sensitive and somehow you have managed to be caught up in it. What comments have been said have been said after thorough research and nights of heartache praying for a "stolen" dog etc. When the truth was discovered about his irresponsible breeding with his friend and the blanket of lies was uncovered everyone was very angry and still are. This is because we dread to think of his dogs being used in such an irresponsible manner and explicitly for Back yard breeding practices.

That was a tear jerker alright, but very well put together. -
The canine good citizen dog scheme is brilliant and aimed directly at pet owners. Its definitely worthwhile when Buddy recovers from his treatment.

They all are wonderful dogs by the looks of them. Makes me so angry to see that a dog can just be given up....

lol oh dear! Sneaky Goo  The worst time trying to do vaccinations I found was when someone brought in a litter of 10 pups that all looked the same (like Rotts). What I ended up doing so none got 4 vaccs instead of 1 was to tie a ribbon around their neck when they were done

Should I get her a playmate?
imported_Kat replied to Rowie-the-Pooh's topic in Everything about dogs
Fostering is a great thing to do. As long as Rowie is an easy-going dog and Goldies really do like having a companion then you should be on the right track. Ensure though that primarily the health of the foster doesn't compromise the health of your Rowie. -
lol I have a mental image of the dogs getting all excited about you using a happy voice and getting a nasty reward but it really is a good concept

They were giving away freebie greenies at Crufts this year so of course I snagged a load for my doggers. Meg and Zoe loved them and no reactions at all.

Congrats on the new arrivals! :D

The dog school that I discovered last year has asked me back to train competitive Obedience and agility. Not only is this great news but yesterday when I was there getting my fix of being around dogs, the owner of the school asked me if i would work with one of their Border collies. Ceilidh (pronounced kaley) is coming up on 5 years old and is such a handful of neurotic wanting to do a course at 100 miles per hour of a dog! A total difference to Meg who only needs to hear a whisper of a command and she does it before I've finished the command! Ceilidh however is a very strong bitch who wants to work but is overly enthusiastic and needs all that energy chanelled into control. I started working yesterday with her and to start with she was pulling and barking and saying sod you i will do it my own way! At the end of doing a little one on one obedience with her she was doing nice heelwork and was listening. These people say that if I can get her to the standard of competition then I can compete with her! She is such a different dog to what I am used to and i shouldn't compare but hey I need a challenge right now and I am going to really work with her and try to get her to a good standard. This is a pic of her from the dogschool website and i will try get some pics next when I go see her. Zaphod - The SMART GOOD Boy - without Kavik
imported_Kat replied to DogPaddle's topic in Everything about dogs
isn't it strange the way that they act when they don't have their side-kick. Meg and her bother Shane were brought up together and when they trained together, one pup would always run across the field to where the other was being trained. At this point we agreed to train separately and it did the trick  -
Update on a few things going on...

Thanks for updating us CC and the red pittie sounds like a gorgeous dog! :D -
Why the heck do people get a dog only to manipulate and mutilate it? if I was in your position I would be saying a lot..friend or not!

Are the parents totally thick???! :o This kid will just grow up thinking that this sort of behaviour is acceptable and so the vicious circle of ignorance continues....

Now Perry AND Simon are hospitalized!
imported_Kat replied to Horsefeathers!'s topic in Everything about dogs
Heres hoping that today brings better news for you. One thing: when you have the dogs out wash their paws well by dipping them in a bucket of water or using a sponge so that they can't lick any nasty pathogens off their paw pads.
