I'm sorry BaileysMom. Its so sad to lose little ones like this :(

You need to give them some time to get used to each other for starters and it is definitely a bad idea at this stage to leave both dogs unattended. I feel sorry for this Goldie after spending so many years in a home that was familiar. If you really want to give him a chance then persevere but if not, don't traumatise the dog further and give him back to the people to find another home. It isn't fair on the big lad being shunted from home to home. Is Lucy spayed or the Golden neutered? If not you might want to look into getting at least the dog neutered. If you want him then Lucy has to learn to share. Collies are very self-absorbed dogs and dont like to share a familiar space. Its up to you to get through to Lucy that she has to share her home now and its also a matter of telling the Golden boy that at the same time he has to respect Lucy's personal space, which she needs to have. Try paying equal attention to them both doing little things like sits and alternate who gets the treats so that there is no bias towards one dog. Good luck and I hope that for the sake of the Goldie, that it all works out.

If he is a very young puppy, don't push him. Give him time to get used to being in a big scary room with lots of other dogs. Reassure him using treats and you yourself should also get down on the floor and pet the other puppies so that your own pup can see that you trust the other dogs. Dogs learn so much from us so in this scenario its just a matter of you showing him that theres nothing to be afraid of. Good luck and enjoy the classes!

vitamin E and a teaspoon of cod liver oil in his food.

paws crossed that the other little ones will pull through

I know its hard but at the very least he is getting a good home hopefully

We used Biotin at the surgery for extreme cases of alopaecia for dogs and also its great for horses that have weak hooves that tend to chip easily. Good luck and hope it works

poor puppy. Is it possible maybe for you to suggst a few things to the parents. A 5 y.o in charge of a pup is a really bad idea and just shows how irresponsible the parents are! It will all end in tears when the dog gets bigger and starts to become unruly...
-
Oh yay for little Chico! :D

Sometimes a situation can make a dog go crazy manifesting in aggression. Once off that turf the dog could show more promising positive temperament. Its a very tricky situation but I would give the dog a chance of being tested in a neutral location then consider rehoming options or euthanasia if the dog is aggressive or shows even slight aggressive tendencies.
-
With introducing another dog I would take along your crew to meet the little guy (very cute btw  ) and see how they get on at a neutral location. Good luck!

aww Bailey's Mom its not your fault. The puppies likely were carrying the disease before you even got them. Paws crossed that the litter are all fine and pull through.

Good luck! Keep her on the lead though if her recall isn't 110% as letting her off will escalate the problem further. When Meg was a pup she kept running to her brother being trained by Sam at the oher end of the field. Ata show she done a few jumps and jumped over the ring barrier and across a busy road to the carpark. She wasn't let off the flexi-lead for 3 months at all to improve her recall and it certainly worked.

aww you can just see the pure embarassment in that poor puppers eyes :P

I found two off-leash dog parks within 15 minutes of home!

Ok heres another idea a little more practical. When we had the foot and mouth disease in the UK a few years ago everytime someone walked across our surgery door or into the dog club, the people and dogs had to walk across a shallow footbath. You could try that (we used a shallow long feed tray) or you could soak a few towels in disinfectant and put those across the door so that their feet get disinfected as they walk in. I hope that there are no more sick doggies for your sanity. You have had such a bad time of it lately *hugs*

Thoughts and prayers for a good friend please

I'm so sorry for your friend truly I am. The only way to get through that pain and fill the void is to give his love to another furbabe  -
oooh what a grrrrreat idea! Oh yeah wait... I'm not single  I read that "single" as "shingle" ... stupid chicken pox on the brain!

whoa this certainly was hot last night. Ok very quick opinion: teacup to me means a downsized scale of a normal breed standard size from an irresponsible "fad" breeder. Secondly good luck with finding a small pup DAL and its great that you are going to rescue a puppy although even if you were going for a pedigree pup from a breeder with the right reasons then I wouldn't be dissing you, because next year I will be getting a pedigree Border Collie from a breeder and not a shelter because of what my intentions are for the bitch. Pomeranians are small in stature but they are hugely spirited. We had a little black one at the surgery where i worked that belonged to my bosses partner called Bella and Bella was the boss of a group of 14 dogs and nobody argued with her! You just have to be a little more careful with a Chi or Pap or yorkshire terrier with having the bigger dogs as rough play can result in accidents but usually they get to know their limits after a period of being socialised together. Keep us posted!

whooo hooo another agility addict! :D Ok as for a trick what about teaching him to jump over your leg or arm. Its dead easy to teach  -
HF when you have the dogs out, wash their feet when they come in so that whatever pathogen they have walked in doesn't get ingested when they lick their paws.

First of all thank you for listening to a little true background and facts not fiction on teh breed. A little education can go a long way! Great that you can see the truth
