You definitely did the right thing. He is safer at the pound than on the streets where he is at risk of being hit by a car or being involved in dog fights.

Cranberry juice is good for dealing with UTI's but please don't give any dried fruit like raisins, figs, sultanas etc as they are toxic to dogs and cause kidney failure.

Shes lovely and I would say Australian cattle dog mix but you can't know for sure until she is much older

I love the dogue de Bordeaux "Hooch" and also I loved Charlie in All dogs go to heaven even though its very sad :P

Dogs vomit bile when they have a completely empty stomach. Its an automatic reaction evolved from wild animals that the dog uses to rid the body of toxins which are secreted in bile. Your GSD's are large breeds so you could try giving them a little snack between their two main meals to fill their stomachs. Also bran is very good to bulk up food and causes a fuller feeling and isn't processed as quickly as the actual meal.

It sounds like you will be a great asset to the shelter. The idiots steal dogs here too in N.Ireland and use them for fighting and breeding

Another agility addict in the making! Enjoy it with your dog

only getting to reply to this now! Yes he forged my signature on the transfer papers. I didn't sign any papers at all so technically it could be a legal case. I'm going back to n.Ireland on tuesday and am going to try get this thing sorted out to see if I'm going to Crufts or not because i know that she wont work with him in a normal situation. Last year when we entered the main ring at Crufts the seats were packed to capacity. Meg in her doggy mind was nervous and looked to me for reassurance. i saw the thousands of people and knowing that it was going out live also basicaly "sh*t a brick! I was terrified but we had a quick cuddle and we reassured each other. There is no way on this earth that she would work under that pressure with him.

Piperazine citrate is a relatively mild wormer and if this puppy has a heavy dose she may need a veterinary drug that is more potent. Pups with worms go down hill fast so it really is better to have her seen by a vet.

wow she is one beautiful dog and looks like she is getting on great with the family

positive thoughts going your way to your doggies BM

wow it sounds like a real task! :o Putting her between your legs facing away from you in usually the best way, then approach her from the side with the meds in a syringe and squirt. Our dogs take pills like sweeties because when they were pups we would give them a worm tab like a reward and they were that greedy that they wouldn't think twice. The same goes with the syringing. We used to put water in a syringe so that they would be used to it. Same deal with our cats and we don't have any problems now :)

this guy is Meg's owner's husband where Meg lives, but Megs name before was in my name and Margaret's name (his wife). Megs name was then transferred to her husbands name when I left without me knowing because I didn't sign any transfer papers.

Meg is on the Crufts world cup Obedience team as a reserve this year. She didn't go to the trials but still Michael the team manager wants her on because she is a stable dog and will hold the team up well in case of disaster. This year my name isn't under Meg's name however.... the guy who transferred her name to his name is. What really annoys me is that after me putting in 8 years of hard hard work training Meg to Championship status, how does that give him the right to just waltz in and have his name with Megs  He has 2 dogs of his own so why the heck can he not train them and stop stealing the glory from someone elses hard work. Check it out for yourselves... http://www.obedienceuk.com then go to Crufts 2005 and scroll down to N.Ireland team I'm just so annoyed right now...

Thats really sweet that they have such a strong bond. Zoe was always like that with my Abby. If Abby was walking near us up the road and a car would come close, Zoe would stand by Abby blocking her from the car. Also when Abby was hit by a car and hurt, Zoe was incredibly protective over her knowing she was hurt and would have snapped at our other cat Bin Laden if he went near Abby. Dogs just have a great attitude.

Why people need to pass a test to own a dog...

GRRRrrrrr I hate watching that type of scene. I have seen it so often down at the playing fields and occasionally at the dog club. The ones at the dog club who have dared to do it have been told to leave with no arguments. It galls me..just galls me.. -
hehe I can imagine the scene perfectly. They really do need more credit than what we give them

aww thats a really lovely story to read :D
