yeah! Zebra got the tube taken out today!! It was origanally planned to take it out tomarrow (sunday) but we had to go in to the vet today because he was in so much pain last night. And the vet said that it was ok to take it out, and they did!! He is so much more happier! Still a little grumpy, but I would be too if I had a tube stuck in my side for more than a day and had to whear an ugly cone around my neck . He's still not eating so we have to hand feed him  . and he won't drink any water unless he is outside. He is also very nervious becaue he keeps licking his lips and giving us the "look". But strangly enough if my mom or I sit down next to him and sing to him he calms down allot, so I've been doing that all day long. :) The things we do for our pets  Slowly but surely he is becomming himself again. By the way i can't belive how many post I've missed just in the last few days from not being on here!!!!

Poor Zebra is so misrable. But there is some good news. We got him to take his pill by wrapping it in some cheese. And he started to drink water again. We went outside earlier so he could do his "buisness" and I took some water out with us and he drank it all up! He was soo happy outside but then some moron shot off bottle rockets down the street and it scared the carp out of Zebra. :x Stuff keeps comming out of the tube, It's mostly blood and puss (eww!) :o . So I keep having to clean it every hour or so. It is sooo desgusing. But I feel realy bad for him because his side is all swolen and I know it must hert very badly. I wish the vet would have given us some pain medication to give to him. We got him one of thoes cones from petsmart today, it's blue and he HATES the thing. I mean he H-A-T-E-S it!!!! But I'd rather have him whear that then pull out the tube. Sunday we get the tube taken out and he is gunna have a re-check. I just wish I knew how he got the infection, the vet said it could have been anything, from a splinter to a bee sting. Thanks for all your support.

Today was horrible!!! My mom took the day off so we could take Zebra to the vet because he had a lump on his right side, near his ribs. So we sceduled the app. for 11 this morning and when we took him in the doctor said it might be a bunch of differernt things, it could have been fatty tissue, granulation from some shots that he got a few weeks ago. But they had to stick a needel in it to see if it was fluid or not. So they took him in the back and I could hear Zebra cry becaue the needle hurt him. It made me want to cry to know that he was in pain. Turns out that the lump was an infection, and it was a puss sack. (eww gross!). So the doctor told me they had to put a tube (penrose drain)in to drain the fluid. So we had to leave him there for a few hours and then pick him up later. So we left him there at 12 and picked him up at 6. When we got him he was shaved and he had that awful tube in his side. The doctor told us that if he dosn't stop bitting or licking the tube that we have to get him one of thoes Cones that they whear around there neck. So I have to keep a VERY close eye on him to make sure he dosn't try to pull the tube out. I know it's realy bothering him because he can't sit still, he won't relax and he is not drinking or eating ANYTHING!!! This is become worrysome to me since the last water he had was at 11 this morning and it is now 11 at night. I tried giving him cold water, ice cubes, popsicles but he won't take any of it! All he is doing is running from one side of the room to the other side, he is soo uncomforatble and It makes me so upset to see him in pain. I wish I could take his pain away. :( I'm going back to the vet on sunday morning to get the tube out and to have a recheck. And he is on antibiotics for a week. I hope he starts to feel better tomarrow and it won't bother him so much. Umm I do have two questions- -Is there anyway that I can get him to drink water? Or should I just wait till he drinks water on his own. (there is always fresh, clean, cool water in the laundry room for him) -I'm not worried about him eating because I know he won't starve to death but how do I give him his pill if he won't even eat his favorite snacks? Isn't there a way where you put the pill in the dogs mouth and hold his mouth shut then blow in there nose??? Or am I crazy?

:( My thoughts are with her and her family. I hope she has a speedy recovery.

Well I just wanted to give a little update on Zebra. :P We are starting him in a new training class in 2 weeks, it's called "advanced/clicker"...and as you can guess it involves advanced training and clicker! :) I think this class will be good for Zebra since he has been realy acting up lately. Last night he snapped at my face when I moved his leg, he was on the couch (I know, i know..he's not suppose to be on the couch it was a VERY stupid mistake! I should have known better, shame on me. :( ). Then today he was chewing a peice of string that he found and when i tried to take it away from him he groweled at me. Thoes are just two of the many bad things that he has done in the last week or so. Not to mention that he has been trying to play bite with my dad allot and gets very upset when my dad won't let him bite him. So I hope this class will do him good, I LOVE the trainer she is soo good and NEVER takes any of Zebra's attitude. This weekend we are taking Zebra to the Vet (it seems like we have to go every other week because of something he did). But this time I'm very worried because last night I found a lump on his left side, next to his ribs. It's about an inch wide and two inches long, it kinda moves around under the skin when you push on it. It seems like some sort of soft tissue under the skin and it's worrying me very much. AND he hasn't been pooping properly lately..just kinda hard little balls (kinda gross, sorry). So i'm worried that he might have a blockage in his intestins or something. :( I've just been so upset about Zebra's behavior lately I'm realy at my wits end. My mom told me last night that if his attitude dosn't start getting better we might have to find a new home for him. But i can't do that..even thinking about getting rid of him makes me cry. I know he would have to go to a home with no small children, no cats, and an owner that has dealt with alpha/agressive dogs before. I couldn't put him in a shelter because that would just be to horrible...Oh i can't even think about not having hiim around, he is such my little baby and I love him to much. But it seems like no matter how hard we try there is no progress with him. Oh i'm sorry I didn't mean to write so much but I have allot on my mind. SO that's about all that's new with Zebra right now.

Oh thanks for the replies...I think it's just him growing and the pigment changing in his lips. It's just odd because it started very suddenly about a week ago...I wonder what causes the change though..hmm somthing to look into.
-
Dumb question- Zebra's lips are turning from black to pink. Is that normal??? It's not like a pale pink but the same colour as the rest of his mouth. It's just that his lips are turing from black to pink slowly. Why is that? I find it very odd. Sorry about the dumb question...just curious.

Zebra is neuterd....I don't think he cares or even knows that they are gone! He was neuterd at a very young age (2 1/2 months) so i don't realy think he "grew into them" so to speak. But he is an Alpha dog anyways so i don't think him not having testicles has been any problem. I can't even imagine how agressive he would be WITH testicles... :o

AGGH!!! I realy despise BYB!!!!! Today I was in my room cleaning and my brother ran in there and told me to turn on the TV...ok...so I did...There was one of thoes "people's court" type shows..I think it was called Judge Hatchet (yea..like i'd realy go to a judge called Hatchet!). Anways the case was that a woman wanted 900 dollars for the "boxer" she bought because the "boxer" was deformed. Well ok...so far it dosn't sound so bad..but wait it gets allot worse! They showed a home video of this alleged "boxer" and it was sooo obviously a mix! It looked NOTHING like a boxer...the head and face looked more like a Pit and the body looked like..heck i dunno a lab! The only thing that made it look like a Boxer was the Docked tail. ....And this woman payed 700 dollars for it!! She said she "had been looking for a dog to give her 4 year old daughter and found this "breeder" in the news paper"....wow...how many things are wrong with that statment....Lets see! Getting a dog for your 4 your old kid???? And why a boxer?? (nothing agaist the breed just such an odd choice). And she found this reputable breeder in the newspaper????? When the judge was talking to this "breeder" he said that he just "breed his two dogs together and had a litter"...yea what a reputable breeder! So anyways this poor dog was blind in one eye and his testicles never dropped. That was why the woman was sueing. The woman knew about the dog being blind 2 weeks after getting the dog so the "breeder" gave her 100 dollars because of it. But ok...get this...EVEN though the dog was blind in one eye the woman wanted to breed the dog!!!!!!! :x She said "well I was going to breed the dog to make a profit since i payed so much for him, but since he dosn't have the "parts" to mate I can't breed him".......AHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Can you belive that?!?!?!?! My god!! STUPID WOMAN!!!!!! So the woman was suing the guy because of the dog being blind and because she wanted the money so she could neuter him, she said that it would cost 500 dollars to neuter the dog because his testicles hadn't dropped. (that dosn't sound right to me! 500 dollars for a neuter?!?!!? can someone explain that one to me?) ANd the other 400 dollars was for the dog being blind. The "breeder" said that he would take the dog back and give her back the money but she was too attached to the dog to give it back. Or he said that he would take back the dog and give them another puppy when his dog had a litter. Well both of thoes sugestions sounded resonable but noooo! The dumb woman refused...so anyways in conclusion the Judge awarded the guy to pay 500 dollars so the woman could neuter her dog. :o Ohh..sorry about the rant but that just realy made me mad!!! Did anyone else happen to see it on TV? it was on FOX....

Angelboddy- I'm cautious of Police officers also...I constantly worry about Zebra when I have him outside and an officer drives by. beacuase Zebra is on a 30 Ft. leash I worry that a cop will drive by and think that he is loose or something and cite me. I thought cops where suppose to help? Not cause more trama?

How about some clear PVC (plexiglass) from your local home depot or heardwhear store. It's a clear plastic that is a half inch or less in thickness. YOu can usually get it in any shape or size and since it's clear your pup wouldn't feel confined. You could drill holes in it and use the twine to hold it down or use thoes plastic zip ties? Ohh well it's just a suggestion! :D Good luck comming up with something!

 aww that's soo cute! -
Zebra just started to do that about two weeks ago. I think it's because the neighborhood cats come on our lawn and pee and poo all over the place and he hates cats! Anyways I'd rather have him kick up some dirt then pee on every tree that he see's!

Ohh poo! I can't get any kind of that cool stuff! :( Zebra dosn't look like any breed. And I stink at drawing so it's not like I could make one myself. Poo....I guess I'm SOL. :(

Rosebud-She ate your pool?!?!?! :o What kind of pool was it? Zebra loves to go outside when it's dark, but unfortunitly I can't take him on walks when its late, I don;t live in the best of neighborhoods.

Zebra dosn't like many toys even though he has about a million of them. But he is partial to the Kong. He LOVES stuffed animals but isn't allowed to have them because he just tares them up and eats the stuffing! :o Oh and the last thing that he REALY loves is boxes! any kind...we leave them on the floor and tell him "thoes are my boxes, they better be here when I get back" and when we walk away he steals them...of course we don't mind because they are just boxes!

THIS SAD REALITY. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP THESE DOGS!!
StarFox replied to a topic in Everything about dogs
Everytime I see or read something like this it makes me fell sick and mad. I sometimes wonder if I'll ever beable to work with abused animals because this stuff just repulses me. That any human can do this is just disturbing, Humans are the real animals IMO. :x  -
What does everyone put on there dog when they get a cut or an open wound? I don't mean a big cut or anythig because then you would take the dog to the vet. But lets say the dog steps on a small peice of glass or something of the sort and then the dog has a cut. How do you clean it out? With what do you clean it out with? Would you use the same for you dog as you would for yourself? I.E.-Neosporen. Was just kinda curious because today I found a sore on Zebra's elbow, it's not big and is scabbing over very nicely. But I just cleaned it out with some luke-warm water. I was just wondering if there is something better out there to use to clean up cuts ans scrapes that dogs tend to get every now and then. Thanks. (sorry about the bad spelling, It's late here.  )

You carry dog biscuits in your purse or pocket at all times. One time I was at a store with my freind and I was paying for some items and when I pulled out my wallet a bag of dog treats fell out onto the floor. You lecture people on responsible dog ownership every chance you get. Yes and this is why i'm now knows as "TheDog Nazi" to ALL my freinds! You keep eating even after finding a dog hair in your pasta. It's so sad...but true.

Ohh thanks for all the good tips! :P And it must be the heat because all Zebra does all day is lie in front of the A/C (just like your dog courtnek! ). Actually I was thinking that a pool would be a good idea...but it seems that the big craze this year is inflatable pools. Umm my dog and an inflatable pool just wouldn't mix very well :o  . So this friday i'm gunna go to ToysRus to see if they have the hard plastic kind. Cassie your crazy! You get up at 5 in the morning?!?! I can bearly get up at 5 in the afternoon! I'm just not a morning person. JackieMaya- Maybe I'll try to "hide" under a blanket and see what Zebra does...who knows maybe he'll like it. :P But maybe I should just shave him. Ya know give him a hair cut like a chinese crested!!! (j/k!)

Wha?!?!?! :o :o This guy gave your husband a lecture?!?!?!?!?!?!?! ANd his dog wasn't even on a leash!? The never of some poeple! :x I hope your husband punched him! People that dumb shouldn't own any living thing! Some people....

Well I a problem...well not a problem but more of a question. Zebra won't play. He won't fetch, or chase anything. See Zebra is an inside dog and I take him outside a few times a day so he can get his exersize/play. I try and take him on walks as much as I can but since it's been so hot latly 90+ degreese, I don't want to take him on our walks (they are about 30 mins long). Zebra tends to get overheated easily, probably because he has so much fur! But here is the problem, I take him outside, I bring about 2 or 3 toys with us, a tennis ball, and squeek toy or two. I toss the around, roll them on the grownd, throw them back and forth with my brother and zebra ignores us!! All Zebra does is sit on the grass or walks around. Now I don't mind that too much..but when he gets back in the house he acts either hyper or depressed. :( I know i can't make him play but he just dosn't seem happy anymore...I want to play with him and have him run around like he did when he was a puppy but he dosn't anymore. He is only 1 year old!! He should still have some of his "puppy-ness" in him, right??? SO here is my question- Does anyone have any suggestions for play outside? (we don't have a fenced in yard, and it's not very big :( :x ) Is there any thing I can do to stimulate his mind so he dosn't seem board all the time?? Besides training? Oh one last thing- When Zebra is inside the house he wants to go out. And when we are outside he wants to come back in! What is with this weird dog!!!
