1. I would much prefer it if I could teach my dog how to open and shut the door

Dog poem

I like it :)
3. It has been way too long since I have housetrained a puppy! But I would imagine they do need to "go" quite frequently. At 7 weeks I would imagine it would be often. Don't expect too much from him too soon... as he gets older he won't need to go as often. I don't think they can really "hold" it either despite us wishing they would, especially on cold nights! :)
4. Excellent poem. Rather chilling... poor dog.
5. I'd love to have a rabid fox of my own... they are SO cute!!! But no snow here. :(
6. Sorry to hear Wildbunch... hoping Willow recovers soon  and glad to know your other kids are doing well! Apart from the usual board problems  not much to report! Same old same old. :drinking:

Memorials

great idea Roo :D
8. very cute, looks like he's enjoying himself :D
9. Words are probably inadequate but I am truly sorry for your loss... Trixie is happy now and pain-free... you will see her again sometime...
10. Hoping she makes a full recovery Poofy.
11. I do not know much about Beagles but please be careful if you decide to get a male pup considering your existing male has been used as a stud dog. Stud dogs can be same-sex aggressive (I think). Also, please think about NEUTERING. It will curb many aggressive tendencies in your males plus it will prevent against some cancers.
12. I'm not entirely sure with our club... but the way it works is this: you must have class 4 as a prerequisite for doing agility at our club (basically, being able to control your dog off-lead with other dogs around). So classes 5-7 do agility. Membership is about AU$60 I think for adults and $50 for students. That lasts the whole year. So when *yes when LOL* BK and I get to class 5 we can use the agility equipment for the same price as a normal obedience membership (even though by then I will have grey hair and BK will be too arthritic to do the jumps!!! At least he'll be settled down!!)
13. I'm sorry to hear that Pawpaw... condolences to you
14. Hey Malamum- was there a peace rally in Sydney yesterday? We had one here (Melb) and 200,000 people turned out. It was effing awesome. I mean it's not going to change Little Johnny's plan one single bit  , but that's 5% of our city's population protesting- and it wasn't just feral students and hippies either. Families, politicians, comedians, every single nationality you could think of turned up. church leaders, hippies, students (of all ages), parents, grandparents, people in suits... it was so heartening to see just how many of us don't want this to happen- across all races, socio-economic classes, backgrounds, religions etc.
15. Wow it all seems very scary. I for one am glad I live in (relative) safety. But this shouldn't be happening these days... why can't we all just get along?? Makes you kind of realise that you should just get out there and *live* our lives while our crazy leaders try to blow up the world. :x
16. very cool... :D
17. :o how lucky are you!!!! Give your dogs a big hug from me!
18.
Oh Bk Blue, don't be a tease!! I love avocados but green ones are $2 each and up here!!
sorry to stray off topic... but... that is SO ridiculously priced. That would be about $3.50 in Australian currency. :o They retail here for about $2-2.50. We have so many avocados atm, if we ate all the ripe ones on the tree we would die of cholesterol poisoning! So we end up giving heaps away- anyone who comes over gets a paper bag with avocados shoved in their face!
19. Hmmm yes my aunty got a black Labradoodle puppy (named Lulu) so they can keep her inside and she won't shed all over the place. They got her about 3 weeks ago and I haven't seen her yet... they also have a Beagle (Bonnie) who lives inside NOW because she is 14 and frail, but used to live outside because of her shedding coat  anyway it will be interesting to see how "non-shedding" this new puppy is... :o and also hope to have some pics of her!! :D
20. Yeah... it took them 3 months but at least something is being done. Bensam would have got an email as well as all the other outraged citizens who moved to get this amended. Celebration time! :drinking:
21. I don't know if that is a good idea... sorry to burst your bubble Courtnek but Goo and Koolie have made some very valid points. Besides, there are enough dogs that die every month, week, day, who would make just as good pets as a Golden Lab and who could serve the same function.
22. Another email from the govt... people power rocks! RE: DOG COMSUMPTION IN VICTORIA I concur with your views that it is not acceptable in our society to consume animals such as dogs, cats, or horses. The Meat Industry Act does not permit the slaughter of horses for human consumption in Victoria. However, while there is no evidence that eating dogs or cats is at all common in Victoria, the Government has indicated that it will amend the Meat Industry Act to ban the slaughter of dogs and cats in Victoria for human consumption. Yours sincerely Bob Cameron Minister for Agriculture Sorry to get excited about this but this is really my first pro-active push to get something changed in government... and now there had better not be any more 10 week old Staffy pups almost ending up on a dinner plate. :D
23.
My cats are only microchipped. They couldn't be tattooed on their bellies because of their fur. Well they could but no one could see it.
How would you tattoo the cat... you would have to put it under a general wouldn't you otherwise get scratched to death?? :-? I suppose you would do it the same time as being spayed/neutered to save two ops, if the cat went under.
24. Welcome Panther! :D
25. ahh Alicat I didn't know that. I am going on what my dad has told me about dogs and avocados, reason being we have an avocado tree at mum's and that's how Dad and I got onto the subject (we swap avocados for lemons and limes LOL). I guess the avocado stuff is maybe a bit like garlic? A little bit of garlic is good for dogs but too much can kill them... ? anyway, not taking a chance with the avocados, besides even if they were ok to feed the dogs they are WAY too good to give to them! (I can airmail you some avocados if you want, they're pretty good! :D )
