1. Yeah, it's like an illegal brothel.. They shut it down, another one opens on the next corner. (that was the only analogy I could think of!) Or one step forward, two steps back... :( :x
2. go Corgi! Hope you are having tons of fun with your new boy! :D
3. ugh.
4. Avocado is also toxic to dogs (but possums love them  ). I don't think I have found anything BK dislikes yet, except pasta, and he eats it now because it's too hard to lick off the sauce!
5.
6. welcome back Rowie!!! :D
7. Hi Ickle... I got it from here:http://www.greatlakesbcrescue.org/howcouldyou.htm The author is Joan C. Fremo. Hope it's not too late to post it.
8. welcome :D
9. :( oh well there are always a million (literally) other dogs that need loving homes. Actually I have a photo of BK where he looks eerily similar to Ginger. Will scan and post sometime. I don't know, I would find it impossible to just give up a pet for adoption. I don't know how anyone does it.
10. It was late at night for me when I posted it! Maybe we should have a special "SAD" section warning not to be read with mascara/eyeliner on, or before lunchtime.
11.
my favorite thing to paint or draw is insects. right now it's a praying mantis someone found dead and gave to me.......
You can come and get rid of all the bugs at my place if you want... for artistic purposes... :D
12.   My thoughts are with you... Ben is happy now and feels no pain...
13. Gooey I have had the same problem with BK. He walks everywhere on all manner of surfaces but his pads are rough. Guest Pat recommended some stuff to put on the pads, I think it was called Bag Balm...? anyway hope that kind of helps you. :)

Thanks for your replies. I was kind of wondering if breeding away from the dog-aggression would harm the other traits of an APBT. I suppose the whole reason why there seems to be such a split between gamebred and "cold" (is that right?) APBTs is because of that...? I can understand not wanting them to end up being completely away from the original standard, but in modern times breeds can and do adapt to society, whether that's good or bad I don't know.

16. I liked it, especially the last line... how true.
17. Yep the party one is a Gary Larson (Far Side) cartoon. He also did a hilarious dachshund one, I will try to find it on the net one day.
18. I'm sorry to hear that Daisysmom... always a hard decision to make...     I don't think I could keep my dog's ashes in the house as a constant reminder. However when it's his time to go I'm going to bury him in the backyard so he can continue to raise h ell in his own unique way . Do what you feel comfortable with, that's the important thing. With the passing of time you'll stop thinking about how sad it all is and remembering all the good times you had together. It's going to be a tough week for you and I hope it goes as well as it possibly can for you, and your human and canine family.
19. oh cute!!! :D Are you thinking about getting her?
20. I'm impressed! :D
21. ok I am done posting for the night :) Author: Joan C. Fremo Published on: July 29, 2001 Dear God, What is "Time"? I hear the sadness in the voices of workers here. They say my "Time is up", that they have to make room for yet another dog. My "Time" is up. I don't know what that means, God. I only know that my new friends are so sad, and the more I wag my tail---the harder I try to make them feel better-- -the sadder they become. I know I have heard that word "Time" before, but I don't understand. When I was younger, my people would say "Time to play!" They would throw the ball, and I would run fast. Sometimes I brought it back to them, but other times we'd end up chasing each other having fun. I remember "Time to eat". My people would put down a bowl of food, and I would enjoy dinner, wagging my tail in joy. There was also "Time for your walk". My boy would put my leash on, and we would go walking together, visiting the neighborhood and enjoying each other's company. When I was younger I thought "Time" meant fun. Or maybe Love? I don't understand. "Time" must mean something else, but how can it change, God? Before I came here, I heard my people say, "No time to feed you now, boy. Later, when I get home." Sometimes my family would forget, and there was no food in my bowl. Does "Time" mean when my belly hurts? My people said there was no time for walks. I tried to hold it all day long-- but God, I just couldn't anymore. When I finally had to go, it made my family very angry. Does "Time" means anger? Or maybe Loneliness? My family said they didn't have "Time". They didn't have time to play, or time to take me to the vet, or time to go for walks. They didn't have "Time", so they brought me here. Maybe I was right... They said they didn't have time, and if "Time" means Love, how did they lose it? Did I do something wrong? God, I think my new friends are sending me to you. Do you have "Time"? May I sit on the couch? Am I a good Dog, God? Is it "Time"? ===== One of the most important things we can give our Pets is "Time". The time to love them, care for them, and train them. Animal Shelters and Humane Societies across the country are filled with Pets whose families didn't have "Time". Every year, the "Time is up" for 12 million companion Pets. Do you have the "Time" to make a difference?
22. DOG LETTERS TO GOD Dear God, How come people love to smell flowers, but seldom smell one another? Where are their priorities? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear God, When we get to Heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it the same old story? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear God, Excuse me, but why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not one named for a dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We dogs love a nice ride! I know every breed cannot have its own model, but it would be easy to rename the Chrysler Eagle the Chrysler Beagle! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear God, If a dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad dog? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear God, Is it true that in Heaven, dining room tables have on-ramps? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear God, If we come back as humans, is that good or bad? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear God, More meatballs, less spaghetti, please. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear God, When we get to the Pearly Gates, do we have to shake hands to get in? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear God, We dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent IDs, electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear God, Are there dogs on other planets or are we alone? I have been howling at the moon and stars for a long time, but all I ever hear back is the beagle across the street! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear God, Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear God, Is it true that dogs are not allowed in restaurants because we can't make up our minds what NOT to order? Or is it the carpets thing, again? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear God, Can you undo what that doctor did ... ? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Cat Letter to God Dear God, Do you exist? I'm just curious. I don't care.

24. Initially I was looking at this site to find dogs that looked like BK (and yeah, I am finally convinced he has a lot of Border Collie in him!). Zeke's story was the first one I clicked on cos he looked so cute: http://www.greatlakesbcrescue.org/Rescues8.htm It is a fact that when you are involved in rescue long enough, you see everything. Little Zeke, young and as sweet as he is, is another one of those poor unfortunate dogs who suffered silently until a helping angel came his way. In Zeke's case, it was the Animal Control. Zeke's owners not only made the mistake of getting a Border Collie, they made the mistake of thinking they should even consider owning a dog. Before little Zeke was even a year old, his life was in danger at the hands of the the very people who should have loved him and kept him safe. They didn't want him anymore. Rather than find him a home, seek out a Border Collie Rescue or even take him to a shelter, they decided to slowly starve him to death. Eventually, the only thing left for Zeke to eat was his own feces - and his owners seemed to think this was appropriate. He is still to thin, but fortunately for him, he loves his treats. While in Barb's loving care, Zeke has begun to blossom into the wonderful little Border Collie that he was meant to be.... What a sweetie... and he looks like Blitz too lol there are other stories at the rescue site but Zeke struck me as being particularly poignant. Anyhoo just wanted to share!
