1. *sticks hand up* OK IT WAS ME. I CALLED ALL THE WAY FROM AUSTRALIA AND COMPLAINED ABOUT THE NOISE. Geez what a racket. :P
2. Not trying to be difficult deliberately! :) I was just trying to see if a dog that had colouring not to the standard was not to the standard in other departments. No, a tiny thing like a bent leg is not something I would get rid of a dog for, nor colour (like Elric). Or a GSD or ACD's ears not standing. But something horrid like what you described with the cleft palate, to me that's not good quality of life and I would also pts if I was a breeder. :(
3. It must be tough being a breeder sometimes... :( I'm not being morbid on purpose but do you have many litters with deformities? Not you personally, but responsible breeders in general ie. you do all you can to breed to the standard and be ethical but you get faults anyhow. I suppose good breeding eliminates most of this and this is why it is (and bloody well should be!) pushed so much. I suppose the other thing is there are so many perfect puppies and dogs without homes it makes sense in a very scientific Peter Singer-type fashion to cull the puppies who aren't up to scratch. :( So in your chosen breeds colouring faults are linked to other faults? Is this common across most dogs? Our Basset had a slightly turned-in front leg and that is why she was called Nobby. Apart from that (and it was barely noticeable and didn't affect her walk) she was fine and healthy and lived till she was 14.
4. ok another thing. I personally would not care if I bought a mismarked puppy as I have no intention of breeding. BUT would the puppy be as genetically sound as its littermates, or would it be more subject to defects? (this would be my area of concern.) If the only fault is the colouring or marking of the puppy then charging full price with spay/neuter would be fine. But if they are genetically inferior to their siblings then what do you do? Maybe this is also dependent on the breed. eg. blue Dobes can have more skin problems than blacks, but blue is an accepted colour for the standard.
5. Ok assuming that you have a litter of pups and 2 out of 6 are mismarks. What do you do with them? ie. price wise. Do you sell them cheaper because they cannot be bred/shown or do you sell them at full price with a spay/neuter contract, or do you try and rip people off? (the all-white Boxers I saw in the paper were the same price as their brindle and fawn siblings... is that normal, assuming all-white Boxers are a mismark?)
6. All white Boxers are mismarks aren't they? I saw some advertised in the paper as "rare"...
7. Maybe he was a bad guy. Dogs have a funny way of sensing things we can't always see. :-? Or maybe he just smelled weird, or gave off a bad vibe...? The only person whose leg BK has ever tried to hump was my sister's ex bf. He had the stinkiest feet on earth.
8. Stupid parents. It's people like this who give pits a bad name.
9. Ahahahaha I just posted there at USDA Breeders and guess what, the word MILL (as in puppy mill) is censored!!! :o :o http://www.usabreeders.com/dcforum/DCForumID1/1221.html#14
10. They all look really scared... surely even a puppy who is not stack trained shouldn't look so screwy? :o :(
11. A friend of mine who lives with his girlfriend had the JWs at their door and had them on the biggest setup. He pretended to be very interested in everything this female Witness had to say, so she came back every week and they'd have a chat about God or whatever they talk about. This had been going onfor about four weeks, and one night they were talking and stuff and then Dan (my friend) said to the Witness something along the lines of, "Well, I think we know each other very well by now... seeing as we're all such good friends, I think we should have a threesome." The Witness hightailed it out of there immediately and now they bypass his house. Kinda mean but oh so funny.
12. ah! Thank you. I was wondering about that. :D
13. I saw this mentioned briefly in another thread. How does a stud dog become aggressive (not sure if dog or human type) after impregnating a female? Is it because he thinks he's hot stuff because he got to do the wild thing or is it something else? :-?
14. too cute!
15. Good news! Hope it all goes well and that Duck won't be too lonely without you...
16. Yellow, could you get a Guide Dog puppy/young adult that's "failed" the guide dog test? I know someone who adopted one of these dogs (a black Lab called Mambo) and it could be an idea, though it wouldn't be a PUPPY puppy but a bit older (the advantage would be that the dog would be at least a little bit trained, but not suited to guide dog work)... if that doesn't bother you it might be a good idea. :)
17. Yeah it sounds a bit farfetched to me... it's all in the genes or so I believe . Can't understand how the sire can pass on his experience to his offspring until they're born!
18. A condensed version of this was in the "Odd Spot" of the paper a few days ago. Fiesty old biddy. :P

20.  very cute.
21. :o maybe you should have...
22.
I even tried to hold her paw down and she ended up biting me.. Like Hard.. Does anyone know how to get a dog not to bite you.. I tried to say no bite and tape her on the snout but she did the snarl at me you know where they show there teeth.. snip But how do you get the dog to lay down or to say her prayers? I tried lowering the treat or even pushing her down but she refuses to do that much...
Wish I could help with the snapping thing but have no experience with bitey dogs... just make sure she knows YOU are alpha and will not put up with that sort of behaviour from her. Be very firm about this otherwise one day she won't let you get near her feet with those clippers and will think she's "won". With the lay down do you mean as in on her side, or just a down on haunches type thing? If you can perfect the sit that's a good start. Tell her the command "down" "drop" or whatever you use, lower the treat between her front legs (important- make sure you have her undivided attention first!) and if she doesn't budge tell her the command again and force her down by grabbing her front paws if you can and putting her in the drop position. Then give her lots of praise for it, as if she's done it herself. That's what I do with BK when he is being prissy and uncooperative (I try not to use food though- personal choice and he's not very food motivated), and it works. Best of luck! :)

Update on Collies

   why is there so much of this cruelty happening?? It is truly awful. Sending positive thoughts to those suffering animals.
24. Hmmm yes in one way they are a copout for owners who cannot be bothered correcting their dog's pulling on a normal correction chain...but sometimes there are dogs which will not learn to heel any other way. BK was a ghastly puller, he would be pulling me along on the lead (correction chain) making sounds like he was about to cark it, he would probably keep going until he passed out  . He's not a large dog (about 25kg) but as strong as anything and twice as stubborn. So I got him a Halti (another brand of head halter) which he HATED (I wonder why, because he couldn't play up lol) but fixed the pulling straight away. Then I began taking him to obedience where he HAD to be on a correction chain and I found that working with him in a formal environment twice a week helped both him and I work on the chain better. He still pulls but not nearly as badly as before, and if he does start playing up I know how to bring him into line. Suffice to say the Halti doesn't get used anymore...
