1. This doesn't look right. And they're selling him for $1500!
2. Good for you :-) She sounds like a sweetie! I'll bet her owners were so happy to have her back!
3.
it stands to reason that someone who is going to lay down cold hard cash for a pet is going to give the whole thing a lot more thought than if they were just accepting it as a gift or picking one up out of a box that says "free puppies". So, the fact that these people are selling them may not always be such a bad thing.
This has been proven wrong time and again. If this were true there wouldn't be so many purebreds in shelters being put to sleep. It's not uncommon that once the dog is past the puppy stage and is displaying bad behavior people are way more apt to get rid of it. They're not thinking about the money they paid for the dog, they're thinking about replacing that leather couch the dog just ripped up, or the carpet they keep peeing on.
4. Awesome! I'm glad she's feeling better and you're enjoying your new family member :-)
5. :x Why would they say something like that!?! And even more importantly, why would Animal Planet air it!? :x Animal Planet has had shows on that are good publicity for pits, but then they put crap like that on the air? It makes no sense.
6. I spent the evening with my little sister Amber (through Big Brothers/Big Sisters) tonight. I think I've posted before that her mother's boyfriend bought them a pitbull a while ago. Well the dog is now about a year old. He's totally untrained (Amber wouldn't work with him with me) but so far has been an OK pet I thought. Amber told me today that Chino doesn't like his feet touched and that he tried to bite her mom when she was cleaning his feet. Then she said something that really disturbed me. She said, "But that's a pitbull for you. They all bite." :o Of course I told her she's wrong and that pit bulls (or any breed) should never bite a person. I gave her a short history and all that. She still thinks that it's their job to bite and that people who don't think so have never owned a pit bull. She doesn't think what I told her is credible because I have never owned a pitbull. I asked her when they were planning on getting him neutered (I thought he already was for some reason) and she said they weren't going to because they want him to have puppies. :x I had to hold myself back and continue sounding calm while I explained to her the benefits of neutering and why Chino should NOT be bred. I'm pretty sure she thinks everything I said is stupid. I tried to impress on her how bad it is for the entire breed everytime a pit bull bites someone. She's never heard of a breed ban and was shocked when I told her it could happen, but I don't think it's going to have that much of an effect. BUT since she seems to trust the advice of people who have owned pitbulls, could you guys respond to this post so I can print it out for her? Include in your post how many pits you have or have had and why you love the APBT. Could you also explain how serious it is for a pit bull to bite and that it is not a normal thing? She's 11 so she'll understand most of what you write and I can explain anything that she doesn't. I'd love for her to be able to read the truth from people who own pitbulls. Thanks for your help in advance :-) Try to keep the posts positive if you can. I probably won't show her any negative ones because I don't want her to become defensive. I'm trying to educate, not prove her wrong...
7. Food aggression is a huge problem, but I think making her allow the ferrets to share her food while she's eating is a lot to ask. I would stop allowing the ferrets to eat out of her bowl. It seems like an accident waiting to happen.
8. Buck 1. Hiking in the woods and finding dead things 2. Finding dead things and learning new tricks 3. Bil-Jac liver treats 4. He doesn't watch tv 5. Any store he can go into with me :-)
9. Congratulations! It'll be fun to find out what they're going to look like as they grow! Good luck with them :D
10. Yelling has always worked for me. I usually step between my dog and the other one and say, "BACK!" really low and loud while clapping. I kind of stomp forward with my foot too. So far it has worked, but I'm sure there are dogs that wouldn't comply. If I had kids with me I would make them backup and stand behind me and the dog with strict instructions to stay back. Good luck and hopefully it won't happen again!
11. I took Sadie to the vet today. It was quite an experience! Guess what? She hates the vet. Granted her ears did turn out to be rip roaring infected, but WOAH that was a side of her I haven't seen before! I found myself telling the vet "she's usually really sweet!" I always think people sound dumb when they say that but I guess I can't think that anymore... Anyway, she has the meds and soon she'll start to get better! Yay! Now I have to figure out a way to give her the ear drops :o

That paws...

If you don't know why it's happening I would take her to the vet. Otherwise you could try a heavy duty moisturizer like bag balm and then put some boots on her so that it won't come off. Maybe you could do it at night so she'll be sleeping while the boots are on.
13. Excellent job! You probably saved that dog from getting the heave ho later on! :-)
14. Excellent job! You probably saved that dog from getting the heave ho later on! :-)
15. wow, that sucks! I hope you get a frequent flyer discount!
16. Buck has no problem staying inside 12 hours at night. He sleeps pretty much all night. However, the boxer I am dogsitting right now wakes me up at 6:00 am no matter what. Everytime I watch her it's the same story. I let her out at 6:00 and then if possible we both go back to sleep! If for some reason your dog did have a problem holding it overnight, you could train him to go on some newspaper or something absorbant. :) Do you work in a hospital? Those are our hours at the hospital too. I'm working on a floor with a 10 hour shift right now, but most have 12s. :-)
17. He's young yet right? I think I remember that he's under a year or close to a year old? Correct me if I'm wrong! He'll probably grow out of it. He's just a young thing feeling a little rowdy is all. :) Rome wasn't built in a day...
18.
we should enforce the NIFIL policy for our dogs and children...the world would be a better place.
Good parents already do this. It's called saying please, thank you, no thank you, yes ma'am, no sir, may I please?, etc... If my dog has to say please than my kid would too!
19. That's awful! I'm so sorry to hear about Re-Run's friend. Good luck on your weekend
20. I've heard training them to bark on command helps, but I'd be afraid to try it!
21. I'm dog sitting a Boxer named Sadie this week! I love this dog. She is sooo sweet and fun :-) But, I think she has an ear infection. :-? She's been shaking her head and scratching her ear since yesterday. And I think she cut her ear pretty bad itching it because there's a cut on the inside flappy part. So it's bleeding a little. Great. I know what vet she goes to so I guess I'll try and call her owners cell and tell them what's going on. It was REALLY bad last night. Her poor ear was so red and hot! It's a little better this morning but that's pretty typical of ear infections. They usually get worse at night... Hopefully I can get her in so she doesn't have to suffer through Easter with this. Everytime I dogsit Sadie I swear I'm going to get a boxer someday. She's sooo fun! Even with an ear infection she's still fun. What a sweetie :)
22. It is annoying when people don't control their kids. Yeah, technically it is your fault, but if people did their jobs raising their kids, the situation never should have happened. When I was little we knew where to play and where not to play and whose yard to cut through and whose not to. I learned the hard way once and got shot in the head with a BB gun by an old crotchety farmer who thought I was stealing his blueberries!  It never happened again, that's for sure! Not that I'm advocating the use of BB guns on children...
23. No problem! I can understand how frustrating switching meds can be. It's pretty rough. Parrots are kind of a touchy subject with me too so I might have overeacted. I'm really afraid that when this relative dies, I could be stuck with the parrot since everyone knows I'm an animal lover. I really don't think I can properly care for this bird and I'm not sure what I'll do if it ends up being my responsibility. The good thing is that her bird is like 50 or something. It's in good health so another 20 years is conceivable, but it could be worse :-?
24.
But I'm going to do all the research I can first, and then maybe I can convince them, that is if it would be a good thing for me. If I do research and find it probably won't work, I won't get one at all.
I did give you more information than you specifically asked for, but I assumed being ready to do some research, you might like some extra information. I never said you were going to run out and buy one on a whim. I didn't even imply it. But don't say you want to learn about parrots and get mad when someone gives you information that you don't want to hear. I used to live next door to a lady who did parrot rescue. I've seen the neurotic, obsessive, annoying and aggressive behavior these birds can exhibit. :o Me saying you shouldn't have a parrot really isn't personal. I think that almost nobody should have them. Especially not somebody with a lot of responsibilites already.
I'm NOT going to College.
Sorry, my mistake. I remembered awhile ago you asked about dog training schools that you could go to. I assumed that was still your intention.
