A standard poodle? No shedding but she would have to keep the dog clipped. Golden Retriever would also be a good choice as long as she was prepared to put up with Golden fluff!

Excellent news to hear!!!! :D

He sounds like a lovely boy! Cant wait to see pics :D

It sounds like Buddy was giving him a warning. He obviously feels tense and vulnerable with his belly area so your husband would be wise to respect this and to not push Buddy's personal boundary.

Welcome to Dogo! There are no simple answers and you will have many questions as you go along. You will learn a lot from being here and from owning a dog. Each dog is different  First off the vet is your first stop. Shelters vary in how good they are wth vaccinations/worming/treatment. For feeding Innova or Wellness are good choices but it will depend on what is available in your local area. Watch her with the kids. she should never be left unattended even to answer the door/phone. Teach the kids to respect her especially as she has had a bit of a rough time with the flea allergy and let her go to the kids to start with on a lead so that she can gradually get used to them. Stuffed kongs are great ideas for entertainment as are activity balls or cubes which will help stimulate her. You would also be wise to enrol in an obedience or behavioural course which will help you bond with her in addition to teaching her some good socialisation factors. Brushing with a shepherd. Obviously be careful of the area where she had the flea allergy as the hair is just growing back. You should brush her every day as its a great bonding exercise in addition to a necessity as Sheps shed a great deal of hair especially with season changes. Enjoy her!

Alfalfa in itself is really good for dogs. It has a lot of nutritional value. Just be very careful that it doesn't cause compaction. We used to see a JRT at the surgery who lived at a horse riding school and he was always having to come in for enemas. Not a lovely thing to have to sedate a dog and have to flush out copious amounts of compact hay and straw!

I have a strong feeling that People magazine will shove this under the carpet... they sound like they will be very aloof to admit that they made a huge as$ mistake

By giving her to other people, you will be avoiding the problem, but not solving it and I have a feeling that you want to solve it. Take Zoe out for some one on one time without the other 2 dogs. Shes obviously missing her Daddy just as much as you are missing Justin. You could learn a lot from each other by spending some time together and in a way you will probably draw comfort from each other as well. If you have tried to carry on as normal with Zoe and it isn't working then its better to reassure her and perhaps even at night give her an old jumper of Justins and let her sleep with that. Good luck

yikes where do i even start with Meg! The best one I taught her was probably to go to the far end of the field and when I gave her a signal she would race across the field and jump over my outstretched leg. Always a good one for doing demos at festivals and schools etc. Another one is where she walks backwards facing me and then with a very discrete finger flick she reverses through my legs. I have taught her absolutely loads for canine freestyle routines and she always gets so excited when we do them :D

heya! Good to see you back! :D

It looks like a melanoma judging by its colour. Take her to your vet and get a biopsy done asap for peace of mind.

gee whizz that is rough. i just DON'T get it why they class similar bull breeds as pit bulls! A staffordshire bull terrier in particular? I have never ever met a staffy that has shown aggression and I would highly recommend them as family dogs. This law is just ludicrous!

You have been given sound advice by other people and one thing I just have to add. If you are not happy with your current vet and are not getting answers then take her to another vet. If she is an elderly dog any lethargy can mean that she is treading a thin line.

It looks nice and clean and fresh and I'm sure a few stitches will have Barkley bouncing again in no time. *hugs to him* :D
