  1. Thats good news that you got a clean report back for him
  2. Gigi : Kaiser is beautiful! There is something so proud and athletic about a Rottie that I love to see :D
  3. Oh I know what one you are talking about i think! A wee long haired cream terrier type mix? I watched that on animal planet and was yelling away because they weren't treating the dog fairly. They didn't even take the time to try training. It galls me when dogs are not given a chance.
  4. Pwr what are wildlife plates? :-?
  5. I'm not against breeding as long as it is responsible and for the betterment of the breed. What I am against is breeding for so called profit and people who do it as a casual hobby.
  6. solution: Get him neutered! You will get no where at all with an aggressive intact male. Get him neutered and then work on some obedience training with him. Hopefully he isn't too old so that neutering has little effect. If he is still a young male the castration will decrease the level of testosterone and other hormones by 80% in a graduation over a short period of time. These hormones are directly linked to aggression and the instinct to wander and escape. The fencing obviously isn't secure enough. A dog of his magnitude needs to have a very secure fence and 5 ft wouldn't stop a medium sized dog from escaping. Ditch the trainer with the choke chain. Its not the way to train any dog at all. Get him neutered then work with positive assertiveness and motivation on basic commands. He also sounds as if he is bored, so teaching him obedience or maybe getting iinto agility would occupy and content his mental and physical boredness. Good luck!
  7. I let Meg off most of the time except when crossing busy roads, but I have 100% trust in her to respond to commands. Zoe on the other hand only gets off when in a very secure field! Most laws in N.I are strict in that dogs should always be on the lead in public places. We don't have dog parks so most people take their dog to a park and let them run free there. Usually the dog wardes would pass through the parks and are fine as long as the dogs are under control. There was onlty one snattery git that I came up against a few years ago when I was doing obediece training with meg. He was a new warden and I explained to him that I had permission from the council which I had, but he was still very ratty about it.
  8. In N.Ireland you pay 5 quid a year which is about 7 dollars so very reasonable and no excuse for people not to license their dog
  9. Zoe just loves to steal socks! If a stray sock escapes the wash then she will nick it and if you look under the blanket in her bed there is usually a stash of odd socks
  10. mmmmmmm smell the puppy breath :D
  11. Glad that Boonie is having so much fun! Frozen yoghurt is what my girlies go for :D
  12. Good luck for the vets appt. let us know how you get on and welcome
  13. Agreed.. I forgot about the one/two horses she was planning to get.
  14. gee whizz threads these days are getting well out of hand. Everyone will have a differing opinion. If you don't agree don't start fricking insults..just swallow your pride and either reply gracefully or don't reply at all.
  15. selling a puppy at 4 weeks.... really good education for the viewers
  16. aww I'm not surprised that the wee thing was freezing in those temperatures! Next thing you know the little thing will be rearing a litter of puppies if she isn't spayed and is allowed to run. :-?
  17. I'm a little bit sceptical of pet psychics but tell us how it goes
  18. ewwww thats just horrible :o
  19. Hey Court, that sounds like a relieving report. Treat him like the king he is and enjoy him
  20. Definitely a trip to the vet to eliminate a urinary tract infection (UTI). it sounds suspect in an older and presumably house trained dog.
  21. aww sweet! I just can imagine the look on his wee face :D
  22. Thats a really good idea to start combining a hand signal with a verbal signal. Old dogs can learn new tricks
  23. Thats great to hear. A little perseverance (and hum nums for bait go a long way)
  24. Aurora I just have to comment and say that putting a delicate whippet with a boisterous boxer is a recipe for disaster.... Diego is likely to get hurt easily in the rough and tumble then you have to contend with vet bills for broken bones....just my take on things...
