:fadein: Thank you everyone for sharing such dear stories and feelings. I know that no matter how hard my day has been, what kind of mood I'm in that my babies will love me and want to make whatever is wrong better, I see it in their eyes. I love all of them so much and am so glad that there are other people in the world that feel the same. I wish everyone could experience the love that there can be between a person and their pet.

:D I was wondering how everyone else felt. I know that everyone here that is an addicted regular loves their dogs. I also have the feeling that everyone thinks of and treats their dogs as their children. What I am wondering is how many of you always feel like your heart is smiling because of them. Sally has changed my life and how I look at the world in general. I believe that it would be almost impossible for you to feel honest love and compassion in your heart if you don't have those feelings for the animals around you, particularly your dogs. I love my cats but never felt as strong of a bond with them as I do with Sally-Rose.

 Sally and Rocket wait ever so patiently right behind me, I have to be careful not to trip over them, while little Sandy chimes the course to Please mommy now, I can't wait any longer. Then for the walk from the sink to their foods stations, yes they have elevated food bowls, I get the hip, hip, hooray dance.

:D So sorry to hear about Ben. I hope he starts feeling better soon.

:D I would take the pup to the vet and talk to him/her about what is causing this, your baby is to young to start having the sacs squeezed, unless there is a health issue. It sounds like she might not be getting enough grain. I don't know if feeding yogurt has anything to do with anal sacs but if will help your baby's digestive system and is actually good for them. Feed the good quality yogurt and make sure that it doesn't have alot of junk added to it.
Just one more thing..your not feeding the fresh food with your dogs kibble...are you? if you are then change this immediately...feed the kibble perhaps in the morning and the fresh foods at night always seperate never mix fresh food & kibble in one meal.
Cassie are you talking about raw veggies or just people food, and why is it important to keep this separated?

:D What a treat for both of you! Sounds like your Dad is getting soft. Give it awhile, he'll be up in Dad's lap eventually.

:D Good luck! I miss my horsey's.

:o   I take sally to a park every sat morning, we meet some other RR owners there and walk the trails while the babies play. Yesterday was only my third time out with them. Well, there are two unaltered males that go and boy were they trying to duke it out the whole time. Their mommy's would trade off on who got to stay on lease because if both of them were off they would have a stand off with each other with neither even hinting at backing down. Now understand these two boys have been running together for a month without a single problem, well that was until sally showed up. There was one time when both the boys were doing o.k. so they were both offlead and I think she was playing them against each other. It was absolutely hysterical. She would bow then flip around backwards and put her butt in their face, then dart across the path to the other one and do the same thing. I looked at one of the boys mommy's and look at that little sl*t, she's playing them, she said "Good for her, she's showing interest in the boys!", I replied "Yeh, but that's not to good for them" P.S. I checked, no she is not coming into heat, she is only 15 months old and her first heat started the day she turned a year old.

:D What a sweetie, I bet she runs the place.

UPDATE!!!! New puppy placement and new DOG MOM convert!
Rosebud replied to Rosebud's topic in Everything about dogs
Update on Bud! Last week she went to the restroom and left the door open, well of course the phone rang, Christie looked up and Bud was standing there with the phone in his mouth, her first thought was good boy you brought me the phone, Uh! wrong! He sat down in the bathroom doorway and started chewing on it, she said she has never gotten up off the toilet got and got her pants up any faster than that day. She said he is chewing on everthing. -
:D  Sally & Rocket have figured out the T.V. doorbell thing, but they still bark at the dogs on T.V., except while we're watching a dog show, then they just stare, Oh and then sally will like stick her nose in the air and go to sleep the time I'm waking her up telling her to take notes, that that's how it's supposed to be done.
Ohh, I'd say go for it rosebud!!!!!!! Oops, hope I didn't ruin the support group :-? Go on...you know you wanna, and if you don't mind doing all of the above then what the hey! You have to walk the others anyway, so you might as well have a l'il fluffy one to come along too!!!!! :P :P :P
Actually snowpaws I have a 1/3 acre lot and it's mostly fenced in back yard, Sally & Rocket run till their pawpaws drop, I also have a friend who is setting up a lure-coursing track so Sally can get more exercise, she already goes to a doggy park and plays with anywhere from 8 to 15 RR's on Sat. morning right now. Thanks Courtnek, that really doesn't help me though, I helped raise sally and rocket from the day they were born, their mom almost died (another long story) and we had to bottle-feed a litter of 9, God let us keep all of them, so I've been through all that 9-fold, I kept 4 pups at my house from age 4 weeks to 8 weeks. I really want a pup from this litter but don't need to take on the extra responsibility, especially once we get the lure-course functional and start having little private fun matches. But it's hard seeing everybody here getting puppies and I have an opportunity to get a really good show prospect.

  Help! I need a support group. I am getting puppy envy, I am starting to reallllllly want another puppy. This is the big problem, I am trying to finish Sally in conformation, I really want her to be finished before I really start thinking about breeding her. Second all these puppy pics and puppy litters (Roo you started it with me) are making me really envious. Third I just found out that an RR owner's dad I know bred his bitch to her male (oh, and I think he looks great, he's beat the #1 RR for 2002 before). Now I am starting to want to try and get one of her show male puppies.

:D Shara he is such a sweety, wonderful expressions. You two will have tons of fun together, since he is part BC he will probably enjoy doing agility with you and the loyalty from the lab will be just great. I'm sure you'll have him over the separation anxiety in no time if you don't develop it yourself, it would hard for me I know that.
-
:D Let's see! They get tucked in the beds with their blankets at night, they get their ears, belly's and backs scratched, of course lots and lots of kisses and hugs. The get to on adventures to the store, the park, camping at the big pond (lake), they get homemade brownies (made with carob) and lots of good stuff in their dinner. They have their own toybox with tons of toys. O.k. I will just go ahead and admit that I have absolutely spoiled my babies rotten.

:D With such a charming group of Doggie moms and dads I can see how easy it is to get hooked. This is a really great group of people, I have checked out other sites and this one is very homey, the apple pie kind.
-
:D I use both, I start out teaching them with treats, once they learn I start alternating praise with treats slowly increasing with more praise than treats. The purpose of this is for them to learn that you don't allows get a treat, but at the same time gives them more to look forward to. I do the same thing with recall, very effective for off-lease training. Once they learn the recall you start doing recalls while they are really absorbed in their playing and you only praise them, or you can give them a treat then let them go back to playing, they learn that just because you call them does not mean that it's time to go. Sounds like you really want to make sure this little sweety you're getting grows proper. Good luck with her.

:D That was so precious. I can't be reading stuff like that, I already have puppy fever.

  To Roo: I guess "Tifa" can't take it when the pressure is on. Notice how most of my questions were avoided and we still don't have a picture of s/he's dog. I absolutely loved the article about Chows, particularly the part that was talking about not knowing what they're talking about and the flea ex. To Tifa:
I don't think you are listening, Rosebud... I'm not bashing your precious Bulldogs, I'm bashing the breeders who keep on breeding with dogs that have health problems, because they think that certain health problems or c-sections are normal and acceptable in certain breeds. Not *all* breeders on the face of the earth are like that, but within some breeds, most are. You are not getting my point when you get stuck on the Bulldog example.
I have been listening to you and I have been trying to explain to you that the problem IS with irreponsible breeders, regardless of whether they are breeding for show or BYB, you are the one who seemed to be stuck on picking on the Bulldog breeders and I questioned you as to why, your argument on the c-section issue is an indication that your side of the argument was intended to stay within the realms of bulldogs. I myself do not own Bulldogs, I own RR's but that is my personal choice. Again Tifa I ask you this. Please educate us on your breed and it's problems, regardless of whether or not there genetic, before you question ours. You supplied us a link to a breeder, I asked for your expertise on Eurasier's. Are you a breeder, exhibitor or fancier? You never answered this. What is the main health problem that you see in your breed? You supplied us a link to a breeder, I asked for your expertese on Eurasier's. How is your breed's club/breeders trying to eliminate this problem? You never answered this. Give us some education background please! You never answered this. Where do your "statistics" come from, how many sources? You never answered this. Why have you not researched this topic to develop a basis for your argument? particularly the breeds that you brought into the discussion; ie. English & French Bulldogs. You never answered this.
If you are familiar with the character of Chewbacca from Stars Wars they sound identical to that.
Ridgebacks are the same way, it sounds pretty pathetic when both of them get going at the same time.
