:D I love it, great name.

:-? I don't see how this will ever be completely effective or safe for our four-legged sons. What are the long term effects? Will it cause testicle cancers later in life, anal gland, urinary tract, bladder or kidney problems? My big concern would be the migration of the chemical to these areas and into the blood-stream.

:-? I think Layla needs to be demoted in the pack order, maybe Nancy can explain it to you.

:D Good they will be good and practiced for the show by my house this week-end. I heard the Angels are doing the Millington Air Show this year. I can sit in my drive-way and watch them. They swoop down over my area and the year before last I could have read the plane numbers if they had been flying slow enough.

:D Great site Cassie! It also has great information on what to feed animals.

:D
We now have a puppy and it is so hard to say no. We still haven't decided whether he will get people food or not. Alot of people feed their dogs table scraps with no problem but I thought you all should be aware of this condition. Happy eat or NOt???
You have to make sure what you are feeding them is healthy to begin with whether it's kibble or people food. Foods high in sugar need to be moderated if not avoided all-together, soft morsel food, most soft store-bought treats are pretty much nothing but sugar and bad ingredients. I call this stuff 'candy' since it really has no nutritional value and is actually bad for them. Tobypup: Here's some information on the pancreas for you I also have another post about dog food here and at HH that teaches you how to read and interpret the ingredients in dog food. I have more articles that I can share but I am still researching what people food is healthy for my dogs. I hope this information helps you. http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/refpages/RefArticle.aspx?refid=761574123 The pancreas has both an exocrine and an endocrine secretion . The exocrine secretion is made up of a number of enzymes that are discharged into the intestine to aid in digestion. The endocrine secretion, insulin, is important in the metabolism of sugar in the body...
...I wonder what the vets would think after seeing this post to how many people feed their dogs table food  I know my vet would be :shocked!:
Had to add this: I took the RR's to the vet Friday, there was a lady in with her puppy, he had just gotten over a stomach virus but still had the runs. My vet told her that what she needed to do was go to the grocery store and buy some good quality plain vanilla yogurt and start giving it to him, he said what happened was that the bad bacteria from the stomach virus overpowerd the good bacteria and it needed some help.

MY PUPPY IS EXPECTED TO BE BORN WITHING 24 HOURS!!!
Rosebud replied to Crested's topic in Everything about dogs
:D
Sooooo.... What I would want the CC to evolve to is: true hairless with full sets of teeth and naturally erected ears!
Good for you Crested. Question, Is that not what all the Hairless Crested breeders should be striving to achieve? -
:-? Well that's a predicament, if you are only going to see her occasionally then I wouldn't bother with a impromtu course on manners around children, unless she insists on seeing Hippo.
-
:-? Well it is always good to reinforce her training around actual children, however with her still being a pup that's pretty much all you will really be doing. It might be a good idea to see if your sister-in-law will bring the kids to your home for a socialization/manners sessions.

:D Sally-Rose threw a temper tantrum yesterday, she shred yesterday's newspaper right in front of her crate. Before I even got in the house she was already in her crate, so I left her in it while I was cleaning up the mess and scoulding her at the same time. Later I put her outside to play with Rocket and she found an empty box that soda's come in and started to shred it too. I thought that she was mad because she was left at home while I went to the store but now I don't know what made her mad. She only tears up things out of spite, she has never done it out of boredom. I know that it's her because of the way Rocket acts, when I see a mess, he will look at Sally and then walk away from her like he's saying your not getting me in trouble with mom, besides he prefers my house plants.

:D Wow, sounds like you found two good breeders. I have a question what is the difference between a hairy hairless and a true hairless? I was told that you have to breed a hairy crested to a hairless crested in order to get a hairless, is this true? -
:( I am so sorry to hear about your baby. I can only tell you what I would do. I would weigh her quality of life without treatment with her quality of life with treatment. If treatment is going to lengthen her days and maintain her quality of life then I would do the surgery and treatment, if putting her through that will make the quality worse, I would keep her as comfortable as possible as long as her life quality is not comprimised. I would not let her live in discomfort and pain just because I don't want to let her go to the bridge yet. I hope this helps you with the decision you have to make for her, she will understand either way.

MY PUPPY IS EXPECTED TO BE BORN WITHING 24 HOURS!!!
Rosebud replied to Crested's topic in Everything about dogs

Thanks... :) Good idea Nancy... Actually the same breeder is having anohther litter this autumn, so I might get a puppy from there, but then there's this other breeder who is expecting puppies too (not certain yet) and if I would take from her, I would be on the top of the wait list... So I don't know... /Crest
Since you are hoping to use this bitch as your foundation bitch, you need to be absolutely certain that you buy the best possible bitch that you can. If both breeders breed the same quality, with whatever health testing is applicable to the breed, have a "proven track record" in breeding and have the depth of pedigree behind the sire/dam of the proposed litter then you can buy from either of them. If one does not have all of the above but they are having pups sooner, IMO, you would be better off waiting.
Crested, I'm not questioning you just the second breeder, why would you be able to be at the top of the wait list? Most ethical breeders have a wait list before the actual breeding takes places. I agree with Nancy, if both breeders breed quality lines either line would be fine to start with but I myself question why the second breeder has a litter in the oven without a list of placements and deposits in hand. -
:D Roo - That's some great advice to Crested. I kinda got into it a different way, Sally had such a great pedigree and the litter showed such consistency that I decided that it might be a good idea to breed her and preserve that line (momma/daddy got altered). Well I decided that if I did breed her then I needed to show her and make sure that she was good breeding stock and get her finished, it has progressed from there and I have learned so much from the show breeders and here. I don't think it would be the same for me if I didn't love the breed and Sally so much. First thing I would do is check out the top reputable breeders and find out what lines they have and what lines to stay away from. RESEARCH, RESEARCH & MORE RESEARCH!
-
:( I'm sorry to hear about the postponement. :D although this could be a big plus in your favor. It will show them how responsible you are, some people would have just went oh well I got to go see this pup the fence can wait but you put Freebie's safety first. I would like to suggest you leave kitty at home, the stress from the long car ride might really piss her off and make her look wild and mean.

MY PUPPY IS EXPECTED TO BE BORN WITHING 24 HOURS!!!
Rosebud replied to Crested's topic in Everything about dogs
 Oh Crested, I went to the lake this weekend expecting to get to see pictures of newborns when I got back. I am so sorry that things didn't work out. Are you trying to get a crested in finland, or are you just trying to get a show female from a quality line. Have you thought about an import? -
:D My life is nowhere near what I expected but I wouldn't change a thing. I live in a nice house out in the country, although it is in a subdivision. I don't have any two legged children but I love the children that I have. My dream is to own my own business, live on about 6 acres way away from the city but close to the lake, raise my RR's, travel to shows, help educate newbies to the show world and educate the general public about the importance of buying from quality breeders. I can go on, there is a ton more that I want to accomplish and all of it is within my reach, I may not be able to do it all as comfortable as I would like to but I can try to make a difference.

Can't you show a neuterd dog?
No you can't in proper breed shows (kennel club rules) stupid isn't it !
Actually it isn't stupid at all. Conformation is solely for evaluating breeding stock. What point would there be in parading altered animals around a ring, which requires little talent on their part? It is a way for reputable breeders to see what other reputable breeders are breeding, and to see how your dogs stack up against others of its breed.....
Actually Alicat there are other reasons for wanting to finish a dog in conformation. I think they should allow an altered class, there are plenty of people and breeders out there that have absolutely no intention of breeding but they have to make arrangements to make extra sure that there bitch doesn't get pregnant or their dog get with female. They do it because they love the sport or because the line is to good not to finish and it penalizes the dam and sire if they don't finish the litters. You have to have a certain amount before your dogs are given a Register of Merit, and that means more behind the name than a whole slew of abbrev's in front of the name. Sally has a absolutely wonderful brother that is in a pet home, now he is one of the best in the whole litter and we can't show him because he was neutered since the owner never wanted to breed him, he was placed with her because he had the best temperment for her household and that is more important than him being put in a show home just because he was that great. Oh, and if he hadn't been fixed and he finished he would have been finished he would have given momma dog her ROM, as it stands now if we show the rest of the litter and they all finish, momma dog will be 1 CH short a ROM and since she was spayed after her litter she will never get it.
-
:D Oh! I love him!
-
:D If I don't clean the sleepy out of Sally's eyes she wipes her face on my shirt and does it herself. All the babies love for me to keep their eyes clean for them; I never see cleaning it off of each other and really don't blame them.
