1. sounds like you got some great advice. when sally got a bad scratch on her leg, I had to bandage it up, she would of course take it off. I then made a big deal over it being a boo-boo and would give kisses at it and tell her we were putting a band-aid on it, she would come to me with her paw in the air, bandage around her ankle with this look like mom, fix it. Let us know how the baby does.
2. :) Thanks you guys. Mei-Mei - He did not learn his lesson, he was after another one last night. I hate to have to do it but I think that I'm going to have to put some poison out to kill the bugs, get a bugless light blub for the back porch and run the frogs out of the back-yard. Problem is I want the frogs in my vegetable garden so that I don't have to put insect poison on the food that I will eventually eat; but if Rocket is going to eat the frogs then I guess I will have to use chemicals instead of my frogs and the good insects. Pamela - I don't this for a fact, but I have been told that frogs are poisoness to dogs, depends on which frog, some just make them sick others can kill them. I have researced it, it's just what I've heard. behle - Actually I was in shock most of the day, walking around in a daze, I never got upset with Rocket; I was upset with myself for not waking up.
3. Sounds like he wants to play but it's just to hot and he knows he can't play inside. Would you parents let you play tug with him in the house? I play tug with Sally & Rocket inside and they do real good. You have to let them do the pulling or you could hurt their mouths/teeth. Another suggestion would be to get one of those hard plastic kiddie pools for him.
4. :-? First of all I want to apologize for not letting everybody know about this while it was happening but I honestly haven't had time to do long posts. This past thursday Rocket kept me up till 3:00 am, well until I finally just left the door open so he could go out when he wanted to. He had the squirts. Friday morning he felt better so we went to the lake, Friday night he still had a little bit of a tummy ache and Saturday morning his stool was firming back up. But........... Saturday night he had an accident ALL OVER the CAMPER, the brand new CAMPER, I was up at 3:00 am cleaning the carpet, I was so upset that Rocket was still sick, it started to really worry me. He would just lay around and pout, by the time I got him home sunday afternoon he had traces of blood in his poop. I kept in touch with the dr. at the animal hospital, mines on vacation in Arizona. Anyways, Sunday morning he had a bowl of oatmeal, yogurt, pedialite & pepto-bismal. I then took him completely off food and water for the night. He had the same thing this morning with 1/2 cup of soft kibble and then for dinner he got a whole cup of soft kibble added. Now for the good news HE'S BETTER. He actually started fussing at Sally-Rose because she wouldn't let him say hello to me when I got home from work. He never does that. He is so happy that his tummy doesn't hurt anymore and that his butt isn't dirty. You should have seen him he was pouting about his butt being dirty not that he couldn't have anything to drink. I figured out the culpret, :o HE ATE ANOTHER FROG! and tonight when I let him out after dinner he started chasing another one. Again I'm sorry for not keeping everyone updated but I didn't have time on Friday.
5. :D Great news! Now get them signed on here so they can raise that baby properly. They can get lots of support here.
6. :D
My favorite book is So Your Dog's Not Lassie.
I love that book, too. I've learned alot here, but most of my info comes from research on the net. I only rely on the medical sites and other trusted sites. I have also learned alot from my vet, he his really good at explaining things besides begin a jewel since he takes the time to explain things.
7. :D 3 Dogs: Sally-Rose (She's the one in my sig and av) Age: 16 months Rhodesian Ridgeback Rocket Age: 16 months (yes he's sally's littermate) Rhodesian Ridgeback Sandy (she rules the roost) Age: 6 1/2 Italian Greyhound 2 Cats: Miss Kitty (I think she's Courtnek's Pushycat's sister  ) Age: 5 1/2 Tortoise Shell Domestic Short Hair Pumpkin (He actually thinks he's a lap dog) Age: he won't tell anymore, but I will he's a whopping 13 1/2 years old. Domestic Long-haired Orange Tabby AKA - The Paw-paw Gang
8.
Does your friend feed a lot of snacks to the Borzoi? Snacks are full of salt and sugar and are delicious, just like pizza is for humans. If the Borzoi is very smart he might be thinking, "why eat this bland nutritious food when I can get delicious snacks?" Your friend may have to cut back on snacks a lot.
 Or cut them out all-together. Pumpkin is the same way, I can only give him treats once in a while or he will stop eating his food, and at 13 years old I don't need my house lion losing weight.
9. :D First off the biggest misconception of the Rhodesian Ridgeback is that they did not actually hunt and bring down the lion, they would hold them at bay until the hunter was able to get close enough to make his kill. They were bred to be a loyal hunting dog, to endure the drastic temperature changes of the African bush, be devoted and trustworthy to the family.
10. :D Everything is starting to turn for the better now. Get the name of that injection for us. Stay with the new vet. We all love you too Rowie.
11. well even if we have trolls again it's a good topic. My vet told me that the proper dosage for dogs is one-tenth of 1 cc/mg for every pound of body weight. He recommends children's tylenol as it is less irritating on their stomachs and my pups love the grape flavored one.
12. Don't know anything about this guy, but it sounds like he decided to cash in on the latest fad. Kiger - I would tell your vet that you are getting the word out in the real pure-breed community about his new hobby and that you will not be needing his service anymore and probably will not be needed with the rest of his real pure-breed dog owners. The only real way to stop this irresponsible insanity is through education.
13.

:klacz: A big hand to RR. I completely agree Sorry starcastle but your breeding practices are not necessary and are only fueling an already shady and questionable market; ie. puppy mills.
Oopsie, I always thought puppy mills SOLD dogs... Apperantly anyone breeding dogs and keeping them at home is a puppy mills by definition. Sorry, I did not know, we don't have anything that qualifies for the expresson "puppy mills" in my country.
please don't misunderstand my statement. I just stated that cross--breeders that are trying to create a new breed just open up doors for BYB's and puppy mills to cash in on a new trend. As far as your statement about this discussion being pointless. You are missing the main point that most people here are making and that is that new breeds are not necessary, there are plenty of pure breds and accidental cross-breeds to fit peoples needs. I would also suggest that if someone wanted a smaller long-haired sighthound they might have a look at the Saluki, the long-haired Chinese Crested might be an option for someone who wanted a toy size dog with that particular frame.
14. Just remember that every pup that does not work out was not truly meant to be yours and you and your pup will meet.
15. :klacz: A big hand to RR. I completely agree Sorry starcastle but your breeding practices are not necessary and are only fueling an already shady and questionable market; ie. puppy mills.
16.

Can I get Sarcoptes from my pet? Yes, although when humans get Sarcoptes scabei from animals, the disease is generally self-limiting, causing only temporary itching. There is a human race of Sarcoptes, which is transmitted from person to person. This human race of sarcoptic mite causes a rash on the wrists, elbows, or between the fingers. In infants, the rash may appear on the head, neck, or body
I also wanted to mention there is another type of mange called Demodectic Mange which is generally called Puppy Mange....these mites of various species live on the bodies of virtually every adult dog and most human beings. It is generally a disease of young dogs that have inadequate or poorly developed Immune systems or older dogs suffering from depressed immune systems. Once Demodectic mange is suspected, it can usually be confirmed by a skin scraping or biopsy, in which case, the mites can be seen with the aid of a microscope. They are too small to be seen with the naked eye. The adults appear as tiny, alligator-like mites. Remember that these mites are present in every dog, so by themselves, they do not constitute a diagnosis of mange. The mite must be coupled with the lesions for a diagnosis of mange to be made....with the skin scraping they would have been able to rule this mite out...and where Sarcoptes borrows into the skin of your dog/puppy they are generally harder or next to impossibe to diagnose.
From what I am reading on the pet health web-sites Revolution has not been officially recognized to treat mange. I have given you a few links about this form of mange
Quote by Rosebud Recently, a new product containing selamectin (Revolution) was released on the market. This product is a topical solution that is applied once a month and provides heartworm prevention, flea control, some tick protection and protection against Sarcoptic mange. I expect this product will be widely used in areas where Sarcoptic mange is a problem Good Luck!!!
Also to Gooeydog: Demodectic mange is and is not contagious to humans, it is meerly an issue of the immune system. You should still be concerned for elderly, young children and immune suppresed individuals regardless of the type of mange involved. On Revolution: That's what I read and was pointing out that the sites I found said it hasn't been officially approved for the treatment of mange but I wasn't sure how old that info was.
17. :D  Thank you. I am really proud of him. He is a very polite boy, he will not and also will not let his other brothers or sisters steal toys or food from Sandy my IG. I have never seen a dog that was as big of a gentleman as he is. The best part is I didn't train him to be that way he just is. I did train him to sit before receiving food and to take things with a soft mouth.
18. :D Would you be able to get your dad to read a book. I've been reading a really good book, it's titled "So your dog's not Lassie" The book is about strong-willed hard headed four-legged people and how to train them. Keep working with Zebra and Good luck.
19. :D This was so cute I thought I would share it with you. Every night when it's time for me to go to bed I cover Rocket up in his blanket in the living room, then I tuck Sally in her blanket in her bed beside mine, I tuck Sandy in under the blanket in the bed with me. Of course I give all of them a kiss good-night while I'm doing this. Well last night I was here by myself and since Rocket has another bed beside Sally's I tried to see if he wanted to sleep in there with us. He just kept pacing like he wanted up IN the bed with me, I told him no and said fine I'm going to bed and got under the covers. Well my chivalrious boy plopped his front feet up on the bed like he was coming up anyways and when I sat up to tell him to get down he reached up and kissed me on my lips then he went into the living room to go to sleep. I thought that was just the sweetest. He wanted to make sure his momma was all nice and tucked in for bed.
20. :D Oh that is a darling pic in your sig. Mouse you are a good person, always willing to help. Buzz do give us details, who is the precious pup.
21. :-? Scabes in humans is a completely different parasite, however Sarcoptic mange and Demodic mange are both contagious to humans and are generally still called Scabes. I didn't do a through research into it but came across several sites that did state that Revolution is being used to treat mange but has not been officially recognized to treat it. It's possibly that the information I found that stated that was old and Revolution has since been recognized. I would suggest consulting with the vet or specialist for conformation on it. Glad I could help.
22. :D I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about Starfox and Zebra. I was wondering if everything was working out and if their trainer was having any success.
23. Thanks that helps me alot. Like Mary stated I don't think I have anything to worry about with the corn in this particular brand. I do know that the corn germ meal is the nice plump heart of the the kennel that has had the water taken out and feel that if they take the time to get pesticide free corn then they're not going to skimp on processing it poorly.
24. :-? I'm really disappointed in your vets not educating you on this parasite. Sarcoptic mange is contagious to people, it's usually called Scabes when it affects humans. From what I am reading on the pet health web-sites Revolution has not been officially recognized to treat mange. I have given you a few links about this form of mange. http://www.vetmedcenter.com/Consumer/display.asp?fn=P-MR-M-Pa_5-sarcoptesso1XX.xml%20&dt=A http://www.canismajor.com/dog/mange1.html http://www.vetcentric.com/userportal/printerFriendly.cfm?OBJECT=50&ArticleType=EncycIllness Here's a link to a supplier, you will want to look into the Chlorhexiderm dips and shampoos along with the Paramite Dip. I am not familiar with this company but there web-site seemed to have the best options in dips and shampoos. Anyways that should give you a start on what your poor pup is dealing with and the best way for you to treat her. http://www.lockepet.net/itmidx8.htm Hope this helps.
25.
I disagree Barbiro - from my viewpoint, Rotties and Dobies and GSD's look more intimidating, because of size. Pit's are cute, I think. With those wide faces and square heads, they look like little weight lifters!! LOL I completely agree. I think that the public view of them is "inherited" from bad press. Pit's are not that large, and most people dont realize how strong they are, compared to the size of a Rottie or a Dobe.... The image of the Pit has been in ingrained into the minds of the general public and of course since it's always bad publicity they associate this look with mean. But because of what the stupid ignorant macho "gotta have a tough dog" people have caused, they are seen constantly on the press as evil and dangerous.... Off subject - Court who would get along great with my breeder, she has the same opinion about ignorant, arrogant people who want big bad a** dogs and don't have a clue of how to raise them to be respectable members of society. back in my youth it was the GSD's and Dobe's that got all the bad press, then later on the Rotties..... I hope you can get this worked out Angel.... I hope you can get this worked out so you can bring your dog back....
Angel - You should also point out that they should not judge you, your friend and your dogs unless the dog gives them reason to.
