MY PUPPY IS EXPECTED TO BE BORN WITHING 24 HOURS!!!
Rosebud replied to Crested's topic in Everything about dogs
:D Oh boy, you should really be pacing that floor right now. Is the carpet starting to wear thin. Congrats! -
:D Good for you Bentley. I'm not in that field but admire anybody that is. There are quite a few people here that can help you and will give you great advice.

:D
2. A Man and His Dog A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead. He remembered dying, and that the dog had been dead for years.
I like that version better.
-
 I used the tree method successfully on Sally for walking, however if her brother Rocket was was with us she would look at me like naw not today so I tried the turn-around method and it corrected her little attitude, she decided it was better to walk loose than not get to go in the same direction as Rocket.

:fadein:
Thanks everyone!!!!!!!! I was so proud of my little boy! Even though he was norty... He kept pulling at his lead and he wouldn't stand up for the judge!
Sally did the same thing, wouldn't show her teeth either. Keep working on it, it took about 3 shows before Sally realized it was no big deal. I would have people go over her while I scratched her throat or gave her a piece of bait to distract her, works like a charm. Now we're working on me standing in front of her and not breaking stack while the judge goes over her.

:D
Look in my eyes and Deny it. No human could Love you as much as I do.
This could not be any truer. Loved all of them, now I have to think differently when I have to vacume the dog hairs out my my blankets.

:D The lady didn't show up to class tonight, but I talked to another lady I'm friends with about the Tea Tree Shampoo and she said it's great but that it will sometimes make a dog itch or they will have allergies to it.
-
:-? I've heard that Home Again can only read there own chip but that the others can read Home Again. I plan on getting Home Again for Sally & Rocket.
Sharp little teeth, aren't they? My suggestion is to do what I did with Lady -- yelp!! Really loud and then walk away. She would get this puzzled look on her face as though saying: "What did I do wrong?" After a few days of doing that, she got the message. But make sure you yelp REALLY LOUD!! That's actually how their mother teaches them not to play rough or bite.
It really does work, Rocket was really bad about mouthing and his teeth hurt, we tried it and within a week he quit mouthing. I figured it out by watching him with Sandy, she would yelp when he got to rough with her and he would quit so I figured if it works for her it should work for me too.

:D Looks great so far.

:D I don't know it it's in the stores yet, I do know you can get it at health food stores and at some online dog supply stores. I will ask the lady who told me about it at class tonight and post tommorrow.

Boomer had a "hello"with A PORCUPINE!(Pics)
Rosebud replied to Holz_Boomer's topic in Everything about dogs
:D Give him a cookie when he gets home, he had such a bad day he deserves some extra love. Get better soon, Boomer. -
:D I'm still trying to find a good shampoo for the pups too, baby shampoo will not get rid of the odour for my anymore. Someone told me that Tea-Tree shampoo helps condition the skin and that will improve the coat.
i only gave her one! maybe she just needed to adjust to the yogurt, but after that mess, i'm not going to find out!
:-? Was the peanut butter still real hot when you added the yogurt and if it was did it kinda bubble when you added it. I'm wondering if adding cold yogurt to hot peanut butter would cause the yogurt to spoil. I haven't tried that recipe it just sounded good, I don't think I'll melt the peanut butter in the microwave. Let me know I'm really interested in what went wrong! Yogurt should not upset your dog's stomach, neither should peanut butter. The only other thing I can think of is allergies to either one or both.
ROFL!! Of course they do, dogs as part of the family have to ACT like part of the family (teenage brothers I'm thinking of here).
mine still act like 3-4 year olds. Love her markings Bronxie, pretty girl.
-
:D Yep Mama AJ, you got that right. May I add one more to it. A breeder that will take a pup back for whatever reason, at any age rather than risk it ending up in a shelter. Make that a breeder that states in the puppy agreement contract that the dog will be returned to the breeder before being placed in another home so that the breeder can interview them too.

:D Congratulations AJ, you are officially a DOG MOM!

Don't get between a Lab and her Food!!
Rosebud replied to Prairie_Gurl's topic in Everything about dogs
:D Sally & Rocket are on a feeding schedule, they get two cups of kibble to free feed on during the day, then they get two more cups of kibble for dinner with good food & broth added to it. Then they get dessert. They are supposed to get 6 cups a day for their size and breed but have reduced it to because of the additions to dinner & dessert. No weight problems, so now that it's pretty outside they get to start toning up those muscles. -
 Marion I am so glad to know that what is wrong with Rosie is managable. Give her a big hug and kiss.

:D CONGRATULATIONS TO SNOWPAWS :B-fly:
Wow! Thanx Rosebud! :D :D :D I want to introduce yogurt into Rowie's diet..how should I? Give her a bit at first then gradually add more and more? :-? How many times should I give her yogurt? At every meal? (She's a year and a bit BTW) :D Thanks! :D
Give her a spoonful for a few days and make sure it agrees with her, then you can let her have some everyday. My babies get it as dessert, they do fine on a cup serving, but I don't give them that much every day.
This may not be the case in your situation, but are you SURE that Chelsea is the "alpha"? I'm just asking because in general, the top ranking dog in a group rarely will show "aggression" (I know that's not what you called it, but just as in growling, snapping, etc), and many won't even express their dominance because they KNOW they are the top rank, and they don't need to prove it.....
This is so true. At Sally's mom and dad's house her dad Caleb is actually the Alpha dog, their momma, Elsa, is the acting alpha but whenever the pups won't listen to her Caleb will walk up to the squabble stand there and bark just once; Everybody stops what they're doing and goes their own way. Caleb has never gotten into a dominance fight with anyone, everybody knows that what he says is law, even momma dog Elsa, who is a very strong Alpha personality will back away from Caleb at just a stare from him.

:( I'm sorry it didn't work out. The pup you posted seems real sweet and being so young Alex might not have a problem with him. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

 :o
i made those peanut butter/yogurt treats for roxy and they gave her the poops.
How many did you give her, I haven't made any yet just the brownies and nothing but firmer stools out of them.

:D I'm going to have to try some of those sock toys. The only home-made toy that I have is for my house lions. You take a green bamboo cane about 2-3 feet long and about a dime in diameter at the base and let it dry in the sun. Once it's good and dry you just drag it around the room and watch the kitties chase it. the bamboo creates a noise and the cats love chasing it. You can also tie some feathers to a string and tie the string to the stick and go kitty cat fishing.
