:D They way I let Sandy my IG (she was 4 at the time) know that she was still top dog was to not let the puppies take toys away from her, they couldn't get up on the furniture with her and she got her food first. It turned out to be a blessing that I did this. They are 14 months old now and still won't take anything away from her. They are growing up respecting her as top dog and it's the best thing since they are soooooo huge now.

:D Well you can definately tell that he is in love with it, and you are the best mommy ever for letting him keep it. I'm sure that he would agree. That's cute how he will go to another room to keep you from taking it from him. Four-legged babies are soooo smart.

:D Maybe some good can come out of these idiots breeding for the Miracle of Birth. Maybe some mom and dad that had thought about breeding for that will instead just show the episode to the kids and get the pets fixed. I think everybody should gang up on the shows execs get them to post a warning about uneducated breeding practices.

:P Congratulations! I wish I had been able to go to Perry, GA this year; but I just got back from Texas and I can't do that many big out of town shows this year with Sally being so inconsistant in the ring, maybe next year, oh wait I will definately be there in April of 2005 as that's where the RRCUS Nationals are being held.

:-? My mother's GSD had severe hip dysplasia. She would waddle but she would also drag her back feet. When she got older it got worse, she actually couldn't pick up her back feet and she would sometimes drag them so bad they would flip over. I agree with everyone else on having tests done to confirm HD. glucosamine/chrondroitin is great for any type of ligament or tendon problem, my vet prescribed it for Rocco when he twisted his leg falling in a mole hole. He took the shot form once a month for 4 months, doesn't have any more problems with his leg and it's been about 3 months since his last shot. Hope everything works out fine.

:D Eagle Natural mixed with Cooked Ground Beef, Chicken, Steak, Fish, Chicken Noodle Soup, Canned Food, Mashed Potatoes, you name it. My babies get plain kibble to munch on during the day, at their evening dinner they get whatever I'm eating provided it doesn't have any heavy sauces, hot seasonings, or just tooo much grease, although they love chicken fingers and pizza. They get yogurt 2-3 times a week, occasionally I will let them have a little bit of ice cream. They get bones to brush their teeth with and they brush their teeth everynight after dinner themselves. I have never had a problem with their digestive system, nobody has a sensitive stomach, no food allergies, they have nice healthy coats and I get the added bonus of regular, solid poo poos to pick up and put in the doggy septic tank.

:D Thank you K. Help me out of my blond moment, What's a pizzle? -
:B-fly: :Dog_run: Though I would share this story with everyone. Two week-ends ago a friend of mine found a lost English Lab. She already has an aging GSD, two mixed terrorists and two cats. Her husband absolutely loved the little 4-6 month boy. Unfortunately they knew it probably belonged to someone and even if they couldn't find the owners they knew they couldn't afford to keep him. They posted flyers everywhere; vets, shelters, corner stores; checked in daily, checked for micro-chip. They did everything they could to find this precious babies parents. Last week-end I called a friend (Cindy) who had a lab and asked her to ask around and see if she knew of anybody who wanted one. I couldn't keep this angel either, I already am spreading my puppy love thin with showing Sally and making sure that Sandy & Rocco don't feel left out. Anyways, my idea was that her best friend (Cristie) needed a Lap, opps Lab pup (yeah I really meant the first one). Well of course, she's very picky and her reply is NO WAY! I can't live with a dog, the mess, the hair, the you know what I mean. Her husband would love a Lab. Well, this is what happened. Cindy talked to another friend of ours who has 20 acres, a Cattle Dog and lots of farm animals. Me and another friend took Mr. Lap pup (temporarily named by my friend BUD) to the big lake to meet his new daddy (Jimmy). Well of course we all meeted at Cindy's campsite, (which is beside Cristie's) and let Bud meet everybody. Jimmy has trained police dogs and said that this baby had been trained with some very harse training methods and that his spirit had somewhat been broken, he believed that he would come out of it and would make a great loyal companion for someone. He really didn't need another dog but he was willing to take in this baby to make sure that he was loved (Honorable Man). Cristie fell in love with Bud and ended up taking him into her home. I don't think there is a better placement for him or a better dog for her. He is already house-trained and needs to be in a one dog family (right now). He needs to be loved and to learn to retrust people and that's the kind of dog Cristie needs. One that has already been trained and just wants to be loved. Oh, Cristie has called every-other day with BUD updates. He is officially a spoiled rotten Lap pup and Cristie is now officially a DOG MOM. Bud is now in the perfect home, with a daddy who likes to hunt and would love to take his BUD with him, with a mommy that will probably say I am not going to let him go, it's too dangerous and he gets to go to a big lake every weekend to swim in till his pawpaws won't let him. One down and 900 k-billion to go. :B-fly: I love it, a lost puppy placement and a new convert at the same time.

:o :D I would have thought the shelter you got her from would have had her already spayed BEFORE letting her be adopted out.
-
:o First I would put gentle pressure on his abdomen, if it is at all tender, GET TO VET IMMEDIATELY! He should probably go to the vet regardless, he shouldn't be lethargic just because he had a BIG dinner. The bowel movement was probably what he had earlier and not the pork. I don't think I would take any chances with the bones, since he ate 4 PORK bones. I hope it's not as serious as it sounds.

 BK I am so sorry to hear about your baby Rinny. Just remember that to be truly loved is to be loved by your dog. They are our truest friends. I know in my heart BK that you have been truly loved and Rinny knows how much you loved him back. RIP (Run in Paradise) Rinny. :lilangel:

:D Malamum's right. Try taking your new baby to the pet store and let her pick out a treat of toy to take home with her. Take her with you anytime your just going to the gas station, never leave her unattended in a hot or cold vehicle without the air or heat on. Take her for fun rides and just drive around the block, then give her a cookie when you get home. Malamum you should be ashamed of yourself, you could at least took that baby for a ride around the block.

  It's the squeaky circle from h***! Squeaky Assassination then Squeaky Resurrection....Assainate... Resurrect.......and on and on and on and on. Comprise is the only solution. I settled for the larger squeaky, the one that sounds more like a pathetic lamb. Not as high pitched and easier to live with, cannot be squeaked as fast as it's smaller evil sibling. And lots of :drinking: :drinking: :drinking:

:D Princess Sally-Rose of Starr: Sally Forth was the name my breeder gave her when she was born. I liked Sally but wanted something different. I thought she needed to be a princess, my name is Rose (call me strange) and Starr is in her mother's name, her Grand-mother's name and in a very famous Dog in her mother's line. Caleb's Maximus MoRocco Smith: Caleb is his daddy's name, Maximus is for the ultimate challenge her faced at birth since he wasn't breathing at birth, MoRocco was again the name given by the breeder and Smith is the breeder's last name (again call me strange). Rare Find's Sandcastle: She had already been named Sandy when I got her from my sister, I wanted a name that Sandy could be a nickname from, Rare Find's was the kennel name she is from and Sandcastle just fit perfect. Miss Kitty: Already named when I got her, but boy does it fit. Pumpkin: My parents brought him home from the horse barn, when my father caught him he scratched up his arms pretty bad. I went to pick up the kitten and my dad said watch out "He's a tiger!", he rolled over onto his back in my arms and started making biscuits in the air and purring loudly, I replied to my father "He's not a Tiger, he's a ....... a Pumpkin!" All I could think of since he's an orange tabby. It fit and we kept it.

 Dogs do learn more than one name and know which names are for when their in trouble. Sally is Sally-Rose when I need her attention right then and Missy!! if she choses to ignore me or has gotten into trouble. Rocco is Rocket when he's in trouble. I can't think of a good name to go with Stewart, maybe if Stewart was the middle name

:-? I was wondering Why did someone suggest Nutrical, has Miko not been eating for a long time. If the refusal to eat is something that just started then I would not opt for using the Nutrical unless their is a serious life-threatining reason. I would just not feed anything but dog food. Miko should only miss about 2 feedings before he gives in and eats his dog food. Now this will only work if everyone quits giving him treats and table scraps. I had to do this to one of my cats and it does work as hard as it is to deny food to the babies. Good Luck,

 That is tooo cute. She definately knows how to handle a lazy man uh! I mean dog.

:D Everybody has given you some great advice. Here's something that worked for me pertaining to squeaky toys. My 2 RR's decided that they really needed the squeaky out of the toys, I can't let them tear up the toys because they have to share them with my IG and she doesn't tear up her toys. I decided to teach them the reprecussions to tearing up the toys. Whenever they gutted one I would say in a firm voice "You Broke It" take it away from them take the toy and both dogs to the trash can. I would show them the toy again and the insides of the toy let them sniff at the insides, I would again say "You Broke It" then I would throw it away right in front of them. They already knew that nothing ever returnes from the trash can. I did this 5 times and when I did it with the most top favorite toy they stopped tearing them up. Oh the pouting hurt me but it stop the destructive chewing.

:) She is such a pretty girl. I'm sure you love her very much and that she knows you love her and are taken good care of her. Usually any change in the way a dog uses their legs is to compensate for an injury or defect somewhere else. The change in her front leg is to compensate for loss of balance in the front. I'm not sure that any supplements will help this, although they would help with discomfort and mobility. I would look into a prosthetic to help her balance her front if the vet feels it is feesible. Good luck

:hmmmm: I'm at a loss. Definately looks like Shepard, possibly Malinois with that long nose, big ears and head, but hair is way toooo short. Maybe German Pinscher and short-haired German Shepard. I would guess that even though it looks like Pharoah or Ibizan mixed in, I would think those breeders would be extra careful about letting them cross-breed, although accidents do happen. I think I would just go with short-haired German Shepard mix.

:) I would definately agree with the Bernese Mountian Dog, definately has the markings. I would also venture to guess from the head and ears there might be some golden retriever in there. You have a very pretty baby, sweet face.
