1. So sorry about Rocco, H.F....... Lovely drawing and poem...Sharpeigirl.......
2.
This reminds me of a Judge Judy episode I watched yesterday, where a young guy brought his pit bull terrier to a company 'family' picnic and let her/him off the leash, whereafter he/she mauled a 4 or 5 year old girl and almost tore her upper lip off. His reasoning was that she 'antagonized' the dog, but he knew BEFORE letting the dog off the leash that he/she had previously been tortured by mean little kids, and STILL allowed the dog off the leash around children, without warning people he/she was skittish around children. Regardless of the breed, the fact that the owners were cited about the dog previously biting someone means that A. The state should have followed up, and B. The owners should have been MUCH more vigilant. The fact that things like this happen makes me sick.
That was a Boston Terrier.......
3. What is this the I hate JRT post ??? Have any of you actually had a JRT ? I'm hearing "I heard" an awful lot......... Boy, people pick up in arms when someones bashing a Pit Bull or some large breed but ...... This just really sucks. I'm actually shaking......I did a lot of research before I chose this breed thank you, and they are not hyper. Sassy went through Beginners and Advanced Obedience with flying colors, actually the "STAR" of her class. And in her class there were dogs that had to be muzzled because of dog aggressive behavior and she wasn't one of them. And neither of mine wear prong collars, I know alot of other people with JRT's and I don't know any that wear them...... I get just as sick of hearing stereotypical crap about my breed, just the same as Pit Bull owners !!!!! :-? Let me add that a few of you did say nice things, but please let's stick to facts not sterotypes.
4. :o Leave for a week and look what happens !!! I'll start off by saying that people are very passionate here about their opinons.....I personally try and stay away from a thread with too much controversy..... BUT, I just had to add my 2 cents for what it's worth ......... #1- I don't think Erin meant for all this whoHa over her original reply :agrue: . #2 - Erin is definitely NOT R'n P, I know Erin and her Jacks from a Jack site we've both been a part of for years  . AND.....WOW :o !!! What a rollercoaster this thread has been !!! .......... Guess I have to tell how tall I am now.......5'6" but will probably start shrinking within a few years....... (old age) I always thought I was short until I met my husbands family who're all under 5' tall !!! Next to my SIL, I feel like the friggin Jolly Green Giant !!! Ho,Ho,Ho !!!!! :roflt:
5. :new-bday: Bailey !!! May your day be great and filled with fun and lots of presents !!!!! :BIG:
6. Very happy for you and can't wait to see pics of Rocky/Carson !!!
7. :WTF: :o I've been in the U.S for all my almost 44yr. and I've never heard of getting a dog de-barked......... My advice to your Mom's friend who doesn't like "barking" dogs.......... DON'T GET ONE !!!!! :x
8. Courtnek, I totally agree with both of your last posts.......
9. Funny story.....isn't that always the way ??? Crazy Canine....there are good and bad in all sizes of dogs.....just like people you can't make a sweeping statement and stereotype a whole group. I had my Lab/Rott (who's the most passive and sweetest thing....) at the Vet and I was at checkout and 2 young women came in with a mini Dachshund...they made some remark about their dog being a small treat for Gretchen, and I said "Actually your dog would probably run rough shod over her, she's so passive" and then I had her sit, shake, and speak......and they were ooooooing and ahhhing all over the place. 1st impressions are a bitch. :D
10. :D Erin !!! So nice to see a fellow JRT lover posting again !!! How are those Jacks ??? I'd love to see up-dated photo's of your gang !! Sorry I can't help with advice on the topic but I'm sure you'll get lots of good advice from the others with more knowledge on the subject !!
11. :o #1- a child of 7 should not be allowed to have control of a puppy without supervision. #2- Those parents are idiots. Not only are they allowing a 7yr. old to to tease and torment an animal, but obviously they aren't supervising their own little animal (their 7yr. old) :evilbat: Don't get me wrong....I don't hate kids, but I do hate parents who don't make their kids mind and don't make them accountable for their actions. :x #3- Not only should these people be turned in to the Humane Society but they should also be turned in to the Social Services for leaving their child unsupervised. (both should be taken) She'll probably become the next Jeff Dahmer or at the very least a Bully to others....... :evilbat: Sorry......JMO
12. :o Did anyone read the additional story about Git Ander the GSH Police Dog that was at ground zero and after he got home was shot and killed  !!! By 2 Police Officers no less !!! If you didn't read it, go back and do so..... These 2 officers are not being held responsible for their actions !!! Wonderful slide show !!! Thanks for sharing !!!
13. I have my E-mail listed.....or at least I thought I did. I didn't get it ....course I don't want any mail from puppy farmers anyway
14. I too wish the little pup had aimed lower  , then that guy would've been neutered !! Don't need him spreading his evil seed either....... On the subject of shooting a dog wheter it be old/sick/ whatever.... I know some country/farm people that do that to unwanted pups/old/sick dogs.....I personally could not/ would not do it. :( I just couldn't look into the eyes of my faithful companion and pull that trigger...... It was bad enough having my girl of 15 yr. PTS with an injection........That was 3yr. ago and I still cry about it today. If she had been shot in the head I'd probably be institutionalized.  P.S That's how I got my girl, she was the last pup left and no one wanted her......they were going to take her out in the woods and shoot her. I took her home and she gave me the best 15yr. of my life.......... R.I.P Nakita
15. :o Good job !!! Lucky for that vet you were there !!! Imagine what could of happened !! Thankfully everything turned out O.K and you now how free medical care for your new kitty !!!
16. I second that......Our thoughts and Paw Presses are with you guys down south !!! We had beautiful weather for Labor Day, today it's kind of dreary and about 70 degrees. I do believe it's going to rain......(no surprise there  ..) The kids get back to school tomorrow, how depressing the end of summer.........
17. Awww....good for you !!! Buddy looks like such a happy guy :D !! He definitely looks B.C to me !!
18. That sucks when your pal needs surgery that costs big $$$, but if it needs to be done you really don't have a choice. :( But, the only thing I was thinking was did your Vet think he would do O.K with the anesthesia ? Is he going to have pre-operative blood work done ? I would totally rely on my Vet's recommendation for his surgery. I should think that having the teeth pulled is better than keeping them because if they're infected they aren't doing him any good......He probably can't chew a whole heck of a lot with them anyway. Good Luck !!
19. Thanks Amber, I just ordered this one for a fellow JRT lover !!
20. I've seen these before in Pet gift catalogs....love them !!! And my favorites !!! :D Can't leave out my Gretchie !!!
21. :lilangel: Congratulations Mouse on your new baby Tigger !!! She is absolutely ADORABLE !!!!! I'm off now to the picture forum to see more precious pics !!!
22. Our old cat Victor D' Fur used to sneak out and get into fights and he had an absess on his head once....pretty gross and costly too !! :-? We had a squirrel we called Scrappy (he had a really scrappy looking tail) that was really tame and we noticed a lump on his neck.....so we trapped him with a Hava-hart cage and took him to a Wildlife Rehab person....she took a pair of tweezers and pulled out this disgusting larvae......(throwing up now..... :P ). The Rehab woman said that sometimes if animals have wounds, flies will get into the wound and lay their eggs and the larvae hatch out in the wounds and feed on the animals.....GROSS !! So anyway she got the disgusting thing out and shot Scrappy up with antibiotics, and we brought him back home and let him go.
23. She looks like she's already for a hot night on the town !! Red is definitely her color !!!  I have Fushcia ink on my beige carpet from a pen I left on a table.....got chewed up, could never get it out......even had a professional Steam cleaner do the carpet. :(
24. Court, I'm with DAL...... :D Yeah, maybe the person thought at first they were doing the right thing, but after you explained and showed them what was going on they should've backed off. And that story about your nephew !! WOW !! :o Kids that abuse animals at a young age are known to get into trouble later........it's too bad your sister let him get out of hand. :-? She doesn't have any others....does she ? :o
25. Well, this is a very hard choice........one that I can't make. There are so many beautiful dogs......I can't choose just one. Of course I'll be biased with my answer and say that My 2 Jack Russells are the most beautiful things in the world to me !! :D
