I don't advocate cropping/docking. I have 2 Jack Russells and 1 has a natural tail and the other a docked tail. It's up to the discretion of the breeder I do believe. I also have a Lab/Rott Gretchen and her tail should be registered as a deadly weapon !!! *gigishiba ~ her ears are always infected too.......she's on special food, has had antibiotics and cultures done........Vet said Labs are prone to allergies and ear infections. :(

 She looks like she's saying "What did you do with my appetizers?" :eating: Luckily for me our litter box is in the basement and the dogs won't go down the stairs !!! Funny story and cute picture !!! :D

Your pics are so nice.......I love the ones with X and D !!! -
There were GoldenDoodles just advertised in our local paper for $1050 per pup !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o Then there were also AKC standard Poodle pups for $400 and AKC GR's for $300........ How can one get so much for a mutt when the pure breds aren't even selling for that much !!!!!
-
What is Folex and where do you get it ?? I've used that Spot Shot and while it does a good job cleaning the carpet, it has a really intense chemical odor......my hubby is very nose sensitive about strong smells and he hates it....... I've also used Resolve and the new Resolve Triple Action......have you seen the commercial where the cleaning lady takes out the old ink spot on the carpet from Thomas Jefferson or something ??? Well I tried it on an old ink spot and the ink spot is still there.......the ink is now actually brighter than it was before and the beige carpet around it looks like white rings............ :o

Brutalised greyhound found buried alive
imported_Debbie replied to bk_blue's topic in Everything about dogs
 That is so EVIL  Until this sport is wiped out there will be more stories like this....... :( There was a similar story some months back about a Greyhound found with it's ears cut off bleeding to death (the owner cut the ears off to hide the identity of the dog....ears tattooed) poor dog ultimately died from his injuries. A local Pet Shop in our area hosts a Greyhound Adoption Weekend quite often !! These are retired racing Greyhounds, they are lovely dogs !!! -
I think desertlady's reply says it all !! I totally agree.

I agree with the others on calling the pound, and/or city govt. first, if you don't get anywhere with them call the newpaper or radio, people love special interest stories that tug at peoples heart strings !! The Pound will sure do something if they come under the close scrutiny of a reporter digging around !!

My Jacks get Nutro Natural Choice and Sassy at 15lb. gets a level 1/3 cup 2X day. Maisy at 17lb. gets a heaping 1/3cup 2X/day. Gretchen Lab/Rott is 95lb. and in perfect weight for her size.....she gets IVD Venison/Potato and she eats 2cups 2X/day. It also depends on how much exercise they get.........if dog is not very active you don't want to over feed and make the dog fat.
-
My neighbor could certainly sympathize with you !!! She has a black Lab named Jack and he was being blamed for getting another neighbors Golden Retriever pregnant !!! Well wasn't she happy to say right back at the G.R Lady......It couldn't have been Jack HE'S NEUTERED !!!!! Boy, did my friend have the last laugh !!! LOL
-
Sounds like a Happy Ending to me !!!
-
Thanks !! that was a great story and pics !!! Glad to see the survivors are doing well !! I like the name Trigger !!!
-
I too know the pain of black hair on floors !!! It seems like Gretchen's hair floats too, it's all over the place !! :-? Try not only beige kitchen floors but ButterCreme Frost carpet !!! It's a nightmare !!! I will never get beige carpet again in my life  !!! I have a good vacuum that comes with the hose/hard floor attachment for the kitchen/Bathroom floors, have to change to the power head attachment for the carpets. You'd think with all the hair all over Gretchen would be bald !!!
-
:( awww....poor baby !!! At least she was found and now she's on the mend  !!! I bet she was so glad to see you and the Mrs. !!!!
-
I agree, what's one more, when you already have 3 ? Just a little more food, a little more $ on the vet bill.....and what do you get in return ? A WHOLE LOTTA LOVE !!!!! Congratulations.......he's adorable !!!
Lol, I didn't see the dog in question, too busy helping my son off the bus from school and such. I *thought* they mentioned it being a pit bull, but I could have been mistaken  For the record, I have owned a boston, so know what they look like, lol. But like I wrote, regardless of breed, previous aggression toward humans (and sometimes other dogs) should be a 'warning' sign to jerks who do things like that :P
I know how that is......I happened to be able to catch that part of Judge Judy that day with no interuptions from kids or dogs !!! LOL You're right though anyone that knows their dog is skittish and has been abused by kids does not in their right mind take them someplace with kids and let them off leash to run.....DUH. I had Boston Terriers growing up, very nice dogs. We never had an aggressive one. But, some family friends of ours got one and the little girl teased it and was mean to it and it bit her ear off. She had to get a fake outer ear. The family should've had control over that girl, and not allowed her to abuse/tease the dog. I feel bad for the girls ear, but she really had it coming.

 I'm so glad it was a "happy" ending !! She was hurt but at least she's alive !!! You and Mrs. Izzy must be so happy :D !!! And I'm sure you'll have a stern reminder for those cleaners to close the doors behind them !!! :agrue:

are some people deaf or what?

That is a cute story !!! And luckily the guy was a "nice" guy !! But......hate to be a party pooper :drinking: , I agree with court. I'd be too paranoid to let a stranger give my dog a piece of meat. The person could've been a nut job, with poison laced meat. You can never be too sure these days !! :( -
Thanks guys for all the positive feedback !!! Sorry I went so over the top !! court, I didn't say those things you put in your quote box, someone else did, I was saying those things are false  . I know in the wrong hands these things are probably true, but I know a lot of Jack owners whose Jacks are really nice dogs. NOT hyper at all. I think a dog that is constantly bouncing off the walls is a product of some bad breeding and/or bad training/lack of exercise  . My 2 do the JRT Turbo through the house maybe twice a day and it's a real hoot !!! I laugh my buns off watching them :roflt: !! I have a good sized yard and exercise them frequently through the day, they also play with each other and their Lab/Rott sister Gretchen in the house. Other fallacies about the breed is that 2 of the same sex can't live together..... They're cat killers...... They aren't good with children. They're snipey and aggressive I could name a whole lot more and say why they aren't true, but I think we all know here how breeds can get bad raps by stories going around. I also agree with the person that wrote people thought they were little entertainers by seeing them on "Frasier" and in the "My Dog Skip" movie...I think that added to the JRT explosion and caused alot of them to be sent to the pounds and rescues....people just don't do enough research, they buy simply on impulse. K~ I remember you telling me the JRT baby-sitting story before !!! HaHa  That's how I feel about the kids I watch during the day !!! Can't wait for their Moms to come get them !!!!! I tell ya if I won the lottery tomorrow, I'd have a house out in the country with acres and acres and I'd have at least 3 more Jacks !!! Oh, and my Neapolitan Mastiff......... Thanks everyone !!!
-
 The guy did have 2 dogs with him at that picnic but it was the Boston Terrier that bit the little girl......10 stitches on the inside near her lip and 5 stitches on the outside. Man was definitely in the wrong taking a dog that had been abused(by kids) to a picnic where kids were and letting the dog be off leash and running around. Just an accident waiting to happen.........

O.K, maybe I did over-react some but I sure know how it feels to hear the same old stereotypes about my chosen breed.....and grrrr it really pisses me off. I do think I read "wild and crazy", "owners that see them as cute hyper bundles of joy", "small and cute but very deceiving"........ C'mon now !!! There are good and bad in all breeds just as there are in all races of people. I just don't want my dogs to be stereotyped anymore, I can certainly sympathize with all the Bully owners and the crap they have to put up with on a daily basis. Thanks, for calming me down and supporting me !!! It's like someone being mean to your kids, the lioness just comes out in ya......sorry.
