1. I'm curious is AC&C funded by the city? I understand that people are basicly boycotting the agency, but if AC&C is funded by the city and/or the citys it collects dogs in then thats where the real problem is. I'm not defending them or anything but if they are doing such a horrible job (and it sounds like they are) people realy need to start complaining to the city(s) itself.
2. I had my first experience today with a worm dog. I was trying to get into a kennel and this little bugger tried to worm her way out while I was trying to get in. She almost escaped...thankfully the trainer was there to help me....oh well at least I didn't lock myself IN the kennel like some people do. Here is the wiggle worm herself:
3. WOO! That's great news! Glad to hear that it's nothing serious!
4.
No matter what the reason (excuse) for cropping and docking...it's all cruel and stupid!
While I do agree that cropping and docking is cruel there are some breeds that need to have there tails docked because of medical reasons. For example Boxers with tails have a high probability of the tails splitting or breaking if they hit it against something. So in there case I think that it would be better for them in the long run to have there tails docked. To be honest I like the look of Danes when they are cropped...I would never have it done but I'd adopt one that had it's ears cropped.
5. Aww love that doggy smile. Looks like she is very happy to be going home. :D
6. I got this in an e-mail today. How To Clean Your Toilet - The Fun Way Instructions on how to clean your toilet 1. Put both lids of the toilet up and add 1/8 cup of pet shampoo to the water in the bowl. 2. Pick up the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom. 3. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids. You may need to stand on the lid. 4. The cat will self agitate and make ample suds. Never mind the noises that come from the toilet, the cat is actually enjoying this. 5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a "power-wash" and rinse". 6. Have someone open the front door of your home. Be sure that there are no people between the bathroom and the front door. 7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids. 8. The cat will rocket out of the toilet, streak through the bathroom, and run outside where he will dry himself off. 9. Both the commode and the cat will be sparkling clean. Sincerely, The Dog
7.
their Bernese Mountain Dog brother is at 4 1/2 cups twice a day.
God reading about how much everyone feeds there dog makes me feel bad. I feel like I'm starving Zebra. He's 83 lbs. and gets 2 cups of food a day. And he rarely ever eats all of it. But yet he's about 5lbs overweight...
8. Oh they are soo cute! And that caption under the pics made me laugh out loud. So glad that they are doing well and are going to find good homes.
9. I don't even bother with sweeping or moping up hair anymore. It's just useless. I vaccume all the time. Or if I'm realy lazy I let the hair on the floor turn into tumbleweeds then vaccume them up.
10. Is this what you do to your dogs?
11. Oh congrats on your new addition....but umm where are the pics? That's realy mean of you to say you got a new dog but not post pics. :x *Taps foot impatiently*
12. Aww I hope he feels better soon and that it is nothing major. Positive thoughts comming your way.
13. Happy Birthday!!! :bday:
14. Just a little while ago I was petting zebra on the back of the neck while my mom was opening a can of tuna. For some reason he started to growel at me and I gave a stern "NO" and said "Don't you do that!" and he growled again and ran under the table. So I walked right up to him and said "NO! Wrong!" and he snarled at me, lips curled, ears back. I realy thought he was going to bite me. Zebra has always has a certain amout of agression/Alpha problems that we had to deal with. But for some reason they are comming to head again. I'll try to take someting away from him (a kleenex, napkin) and he will growl. If things keep going on like this I KNOW he will end up bitting me. The agression seems to be Alpha based like a "don't tell me what to do!" or "don't take that away from ME!" but then when I start to correct him it turns into a fear agression, ears back, licking lips, cowering. I wouldn't hit him ever so I don't know where this fear part is comming from. I do yell allot not at him but just in general could that be part of the problem? I know to do the NILF policy for the Alpha behaviour and try to keep doing it but no one else in the house does it, no matter how many times I try to talk to them about it. I always hear from my parents and brother "It's your dog you train him". :x He has shown agression to everyone in the house but mostly me because I act like "alpha" 99% of the time. I know he is testing me to see what he can get away with but this is just getting to the point of being dangerous. Someone is going to get bit and I'm 100% sure it's going to be me. :-?
15. Aww Nay your not a horrible mommy! I know you don't like the idea of a prong collar but it's not like your leaving him tied outside with it on, or like your pulling on it super hard. Plus you have thoes rubber tips on them. If Cody is responding with it on and not pulling your arm out of your socket, or whining then it must be working. Just think of it as a very temporay solution untill you can get to the trainers.
16. Aww poor baby, but she will be back home and her old self in no time. And I'm sure she will be the most spoiled dog whens he gets home.
17.
Dogs make me happy. More dogs make me happier. I need to be happier.
Honestly that is the best logic I've ever heard! You can never be to happy! And well since you already have three what's one more?
18. Oh she is a beauty!! And she has a cute name. It's like Roccos way of telling you that he is happy and well and not to worry about him. :D
19. :( So sorry HF. You gave him a loving home when he needed it most. Run free at the bridge Rocco.
20. Oh my god he is sooo handsom!!! His ears looks like zebs in the first pic. :D I realy realy realy hope you get him. *Sigh* How could anyone get rid of such a beautiful dog like that?
21. You could wet a rag and freeze it. Zeb likes to chew oh them when it's hot plus he likes the softness of the towel as the water melts. You can looks for these: http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441780109&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302026216&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023689&bmUID=1095491530276 There are a couple of sizes, small, medium, large. The large ones are usually in the shapes of a duck or pheasant. They are somewhat expensive at petsmart but sometimes petsmart puts them on sale for 3 or 4 bucks. They are the ONLY plush toy that has lasted longer then a couple of weeks. They don't have any stuffing, and you can put in a squeeker if you want, they have a velcro top. Zebra has 4 of them and he will rip a little hole in it but then once he relizes that there is no plush stuffing in it he won't rip it up any more. So no more stuffing to pick up! Can you tell I just LOVE these things?!
22. Any news Izzy?? I realy hope that she finds her way back to you soon. Fingers crossed.

Advice Please...

I agree with what everyone has said so far. But I think a realy important question is Why. Why do you want to breed? Do you plan on showing the pups? Are they going to be pet quality? Are you breeding for the betterment of the entire breed? Also I'm happy that your getting test does especally on the hips but make sure that who ever your dog is going to be breeding with has all the appropriate helth check too.
24. Hmm either you are all realy short or I'm a giant. I'm 5'7.
25. What court said. I realy think you should foster, it would be great experience and I know you would be a fantastic foster mom. Go for it! :D
