I think it will be great for him. To experience new places and situations. I'm sure he will love it! :P But I know how hard it is to leave your baby just for a day, but he will be in good hands. -
Oh..sounds like that dog was loved by everyone. I wish more dogs had a happy home life like that. :P Speaking of dogs and protecten. I was watching some show called Miricle Animals or something of the sort. And this woman was home alone and very very pregnant. Anyways she lived out in the country so there were no neighbors very close by and her Hubby was a work. Well I guess they kept there big dogs outside in a kennel of sorts, and by "big" dogs I mean they had 3 or 4 german shephers and Dobermans. But they had a smaller dog that they kept inside, I think it was a cocker but I'm not sure, but it wasn't a big dog. Anways I guess the dogs outside were barking and barking but the woman didn't think anyting of it. But then the dog in the house was barking at the basement door and some guy came threw the door. Apparently he broke in threw a door in the basement that wasn't very secure. The man beat the woman and tried to rape her but the cocker kept bitting the guys leg and attacking his face. The woman finally got away to call the cops and they came and arrested him. I guess this guy went around houses that had no neighbors and would attack women who were alone. But it goes to show that dogs are great protectors. But I hope thoes people learned that dogs in kennels outside are NOT good watchdogs.

 Oh my dog that is great! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time!
I think mine have both realized that....I come home from the store, and they have to check out EVERY BAG....as soon as they find the one with the meat. they are all excited and happy...
Yup Zebra does that all the time! Once he found the bag of roast beef and started to pull it out of the grocery bag untill my mom caught him.
What about the pup that ends up with severe hip displaysia two years down the track because you thought the two dogs you bred were healthy enough and didn't require testing for HD? (this can apply to any genetic condition I just used HD as an example)
You didn't write anything in response to this statment that Malamum wrote. I'm wondering what value do you place on health checks?

I think we need to be big DOGO group an go around and anyone who does anything harmful to an animal we do the exact same to them. We could be DOGO Vigilantes! :evilbat:
-
Hmm so she only does it when you leave? Sounds like bordom or seperation anxiety. Do you leave her toys when you leave? Kongs work the best I think because it takes time to get the stuff out of them. You could spray the wallpaper and carpet with bitter apple too. You stated that she did do it onetime when you were home, if you see her chewing on it you can get a spray bottle or squirt gun(that's what I use) and squirt her with water if you see her doing it. Good luck!
OOOHH heres a thought!...when he lies on his back does he do the "porn star" pose  ...you know with legs just flopping wide?..I know it might be old wives tail but apparently thier hips are not bad if they do that...any input anyone?
Dogs with bad hips or HD don't do the "porn star" pose. If they do the ball of the femur would come out of the hip socket and hurt allot. So I suppose this might be a sign of good hips.
The owner of the Staffy/Boxer is a lovely old woman who lets my dog nside her house and gives her treats and lots of love.
How nice of the old woman to show your dog love. Because you obviously don't give a darn about her.

He's home, He's home! :P We brought him home today! He's now in a crate in my room. He is doing good, he is excited and hyper and wants to run all over the place. But he has to be in his crate for 30 days! And only out for pee/poo walks then right back into his crate. Uh..he hates his crate..he never wants to go back into it and I have to bribe him with food.. He has a decent appitite but isn't playing with any of his toys. He keeps hitting his cone on everything and nearly nocked over his water dish. He already went wee in his crate today :x So now I have to re-wash everything! We have to give him Deramaxx once a day for pain. And an antibiotic twice a day. They also gave us some pills for sedation, just in case he gets real active in his cage....which he already tried to do today but umm...humping his pillow.  But he is home now and we have a follow up/ physical therapy app. on saturday. But that's it! He is doing as good as can be! :P

Hmmm, just curious. How big is your dog? We got a crate for Zebra and it's ummm a bit on the large side  . We were thinking about putting it in the car so we could put him in there when we pick him up tomarrow but there is NO WAY the crate would fit in the car.  My advice is just to make sure the crate fits in your car. And I find that doggie seat belts work great for car rides, I don;t think I could live without mine.

WooHoo! Great news! We get to bring him home a day early! We can pick him up tomarrow (sunday) at 12. :P My mom and I visited him today and he is kept in a special area where only "hip" dogs go. When we saw him he started to wag his tail so much and had a beautiful doggie "smile" on his face. I burst out crying right then and there I was so happy to see him. There are 3 kennels in a row, he was in the middle, to his left was a yellow lab named 'Levi' who was very freindly and was happy to see anyone  . I pet her on the nose threw the cage and she was so happy! I think she wanted to see her parents. Then to Zebra's right was a very nasty dog. It was a lab/chow mix and it barked and barked at us then in lunged at us and growed at us threw the cage. All over his cage were stickers that said "WILL BITE". But I suppose if I just had a major surgery done I would wanna bite someone too! Ok...Now zebra! He was soo happy and licked me all over the face. He had one of thoes Cones on to keep him from bitting his leg. And I think he is embarrased that he is shaved. His right leg is shaved except for his foot! :o He kinda looks like Crested's Ben! He had an IV in was in some pain/discomfort but he was on meds. Now the realy funny thing was when we looked at his chart that was hanging on the cage there was a note highlited in yellow real big "WILL BOLT"...  I guess he tried to run out of the kennel when they open it up! Oh that's my silly little dog, he gets a hip surgery done and wants to run all over the place! But more than anything I want to thank you all so much for keeping Zebra in your thoughts and prayers, He came threw his surgery so well because you all thought about him. Thank you all so much. :P
I hate the human race, I can't believe they do these things so willingly, how stupid can we get? I swear, the human race is doomed from their stupidity and cruilty    :drinking:
Hazel I couldn't agree with you more. Sometime (ok most of the time) I feel sick that I'm even part of this so called "superior" race. I am a firm believer in selective human breeding :evilbat: .

Do you know what kind of mix he is? Hmm well sometimes dogs will just sit funny because they like it. And sometimes dogs will sit funny because there hips or back hurts. If you realy want to be sure that nothing is wrong I would take him to your vet and have some back x-rays done and definitly have hip x-rays done to make sure he dosn't have hip dysplacia. Better to be safe then sorry. Oh by the way cute pic! You have loverly dogs!
-
Oh look! They are breeding mixes! How fantastic! :x And it says NOTHING about there dogs temperment, health or anything. Uh and thoes poor Goldens I bet each and everyone has Hip and Elbow Dysplacia  .
-
I just saw a comercial for it last night. I thought it was the funniest thing ever! Obviously some little toy isn't going to tell you what your dog is realy thinking, but I think it' kinda funny. I'd probabaly buy it just for the heck of it, and if it was cheap  .
-
Well you will never have to worry that devin is in a perfect home, seems that he found his way back to his perfect home :P . Oh yea and you can NEVER have too many dogs!
