Gah..what a complete moron. I agree to bad he didn't get shot in the nuts..or the head. Sorry I think that the idea that shotting a dog in the head is "Humane" is a bunch of bull. If it's so humane why don't vets shoot the dogs instead of giving them injections. And how do WE even know it dosn't hurt? Even if it was humane and totally painless how many people would actually know how to shoot accuretly, probably 1% of the population. Sorry but shooting a dog in the head and seeing brain matter come out the other side of it's head dosn't seem to humane to me no matter how you put it. Realy I can't belive some people are ok with this. All this -what if he didn't have the money..bull. Take the dogs to a shelter. Wow that cost you what a couple of bucks in gas. At least the dogs would have a chance of living a decent life before getting euthanized. Shooting a dog is against the law for a reason. It is not an acceptable method of eutahnizing an animal in the laws eyes or mine.
Since he was going to die by injection, anyway, why is this more wrong? either way, it's a painless death. Isnt that what we want for our pets?
Sorry Court, I don't agree. What I want is for an animal to have a fair chance at life before it dies. Does it always happen, no of course not. But thoes three dogs that he killed could have had a fair chance if he would have just taken responsibility for his dog getting pregnant.

Zebs never had that reaction before. Was it the same brand? Same size? Did she get into anything that day that could have given her the reaction, maybe a plant or chemical?

Ohh congrats!!!!!!!!!! :bday: I can't wait for pics!! :D

I could kinda see that working for the responsible breeders....but how would you enforce it? What would the penalty be if you broke this "law". How would you get the BYB's out in the middle of nowhere to abide by this "law" , since most rural areas don't care about the wellfair of dogs. I'm all for restricting breeding but not so much with the very responsible breeders that maybe have a litter ever year or so. I'd prefer to make stricter laws against BYB, puppymills, pet shops, irrisponsible pet owners ect. then to punish the good breeders that don't send hundreads of dogs to shelters every year.

StarFox replied to Horsefeathers!'s topic in Everything about dogs
Hmm maybe it's some type of seizure?? :-? I'm not sure, but I hope you can find out whatever is making him act funny and get the proper care for it. Hope he didn't bite your Hubby to bad. -
Aww she just wanted to look like she was wearing some lipstick. But serious that would have scared the beans out of me if I saw that.

The main problem I have with rescues is that I know I could never get a dog from one. Not because I don't have great refrences from vets, trainers ect. But for the simple fact that we don't have a big fenced yard. :( But my friend who has a big back yard but couldn't take care of a goldfish can get one. That is what just seems sooo messed up to me and it frusterates the heck out of me and my family.
Did anyone ever report this so-called "vet"? dogs do not get arthritis in three days. and what ever happened to the dog? did the rescue take it back or did I miss something?
Court I don't know what is going to happen to the dog, my freind only told me yestuday about it. She was realy mad at the rescue for thretening to take the dog away. I was thinking about making an anonomous call to the rescue but I have no idea what rescue it is besides a golden rescue, and plus I know her family would figure out that I made the call to the rescue because I'm the only crazy animal lover that they know.

Ok I was never particularly fond of Breed specific rescues and all the bull that you have to go threw to get a dog. I understand it but I don't like it. But....I think I'm starting to get it a little more now and understand where they are comming from. Here is why-- First a little background- My friends family (non animal loving family) had one dog. Kept that dog out 24/7 , the only shelter was under the small porch that they have. They decided to get another dog from a Golden Rescue about 6-7 months ago. They applied, the rescue "thought" that they were great people to adopt to. My friends family had everything that the rescue wanted-big fenced in yard. Lots of people to take care of the dog ect. Ok now the real story- This golden, Michael, had a lump on his side about 3 weeks ago. My freind took him to the vet. The vet said that the dog had an infection under the skin and they needed to do an operation. From the way I heard it the vet had to cut out a mass of dead tissue from under the skin. After the operation Michael was lethargic, wouldn't eat, and had a hard time moving. Back to the vet my freind went, the told her that the dog was in pain and to give them some pain meds. She did (supposedly  ). He was still lethargic, and wouldn't move. Back to the vet again. This time the vet said it was arthritis and that he would be fine. Well he isn't. My freind took him to the vet today to get Michael put to sleep because he had peed on himself last night because he couldn't get up. Vet said it was arthritis and gave my freind meds to control it. This dog has lost 10 lbs in 2 and a half weeks and the vet said "well that's ok because he was over weight anyways".. :o My freind had to call the rescue and inform them that she was going to put the dog down, or was thinking about it because it says in the contract that they signed that they had to. Apparently the rescue person chewed my freind out about not seeing a different vet or a specialist (I told her to go see a diff. vet because hers is crazy). Chewed her out for not taking proper care of the dog (wich is true). And told her that if the meds don't work she would HAVE TO take him to a specialist that they picked. Apparently they are not happy at all with her and I don't blaim them. I'm sorry but I've never heard of a vet diagnosing arthritis from just a blood test. And I've never heard of arthritis comming up in a matter of 2-3 days. I realy think that the vet did something wrong and is probably trying to cover there tracks. And secondly I realy hope that the rescue takes the dog away because these people should NOT own any animals. My freind also got a new 7 week old cat that some guy in the vet gave to her. I almost said "oh how nice, out with the old, in with the new"...but I bit my toung very very hard. Ohh sorry that was sooo long, I just had to get that all out.

Oh god I think I'm going to be sick. Why do we need more GSD mixes?! WHY?! Because apparently there arn't enough GSD mixes in shelters! Oh I can't even look at that site it pisses me off so much! :x

Thanks everyone! I sent in my app. via e-mail. It said I should get information about the pre-volenteering classes in an e-mail.
-
The old saying "Mothers know best" is soo true! This is soo unbelievable, I have been checking the Humane societys web-site to see when they are taking applications for volenteers. I've been checking ever single day since the middle of July and the web page would always say "All volenteer positions are currently full. Please check back after August 1st.". It was frusterating because I'm so eager to volenteer. So today I was driving with my mom and she wanted to see where the humane society was so we drove by. My mom was very persistant about applying today. I told her not to waist the time because I was checking the site every day. My mom was like "no you should go in just to be sure." of course I insisted that we should wait. So I get on-line, check the web page.....and guess what? They are accepting appilcations!!!!!!!!! :drinking: Arg! Mothers are always right! I should have just gone into the Humane society today! So I applied, *crosses fingers* I hope they accept my application.

Woo that's great! I'm so glad the teacher was openminded about the breed, most people arn't. Great job teaching the younger generations. :D
