  1. Ahh that makes a bit more sense. It's still quite disturbing that people can get access to these animals (even if it is illegally).
  2. I really am dumbfounded........ I can't undertand that it is even legal to keep these types of animals as pets. Until I joined this site and others had mentioned it, it never in a million years would have even occured to me that people keep tigers etc as pets. :o :o :o :o [quote]Wanted Caption: I want a Siberian Tiger Please!!! 3. When I was really young I used to have the bad habbit of running away from my Mum in shopping centres so she bought one of those kiddy harnesses . The first time she put in on me in the shops I started to prented I was a dog - got down on all fours and started to bark and refused to get up again. She never did try the harness onme again and she still tells the story all the time to embarrass me
  4. That is hilarous.
  5. You are so lucky... you really do have the coolest job..... [sighs with jealousy] :D
  6. That's great DAL. Any type of step is a fantastic one :D
  7. Courtnek, there seriously is no rabies in Australia. We don't give our animals rabies vacinations because the condition/disease (not sure what the best term is) just doesn't exist here. We haven't eradicated it - we never had it in the first place. Due the the fact that Australia is an island no animals can get to our land mass unless introducted by humans. That is why our quarantine and customs procedures are very very strict. A dog coming to Australia from the US has to stay in quarantine for 3 months. Our customs process is also a lot more stringent than the US. I have been to the U.S quite a few times and going through customs on my return to Australia is alway so much more of a big deal than when I go through it on arrival in the U.S.
  8. I also agree that the man over reacted. As I have said before, Indy is not the greatest with other dogs so one of my biggest hates is dogs off lead comming up to him when we are walking. I have even been known to loose it and have yelled at somone to get thier f'ing dog NOW!! However knowing my dog's limitations, I never take him anywhere that is a designated off leash area. To me it's pretty simple - if you go to an off leash area then there is a very high probability that you will encounter other dogs who are off leash and will who approach your dog. It's not rocket science - if that is a problem for you then don't go to those areas.
  9. Another thing to remember it that while dogs are on a long leash that they will do a perfect recall most of the time because they realise that they really can't go anywhere else. Once "set free" they are like kids in a toy store, so much to see and do. So when you call them back I'm sure they must be thinking "but Mum, you've bought me to this fantastic place why the hell won't you just let me enjoy it" It's all a matter of priorities - you need to make comming back to you so much better and so much more exciting than what they are currently doing - otherwise why would they want to. I have found with Indy if I turn and start to run in the opposite direction whilst calling him to me then he is so much more likely to follow than if I stand still and face him.
  10. I just run the vacuum over mine. All this duct taping sounds like way too much effort.
  11. Voted. That is such a cool photo.
  12. That was so funny - it had me in stiches.
  13. Glad it didn't turn out to be anything too serious, though I understand how hard it is to see them so uncomfortable.
  14. I was just thinking " I don't get it"..... then wow. It's hilarious.
  15. Urban myth - drains clockwise :D Our winter temps are probably pretty mild compared to yours. On average in the day it's been approx 15 C (59 F) though when I get up in the morning my thermometer tells me it's about 7C (44) outside and the other morning it was down to 4C (39F). Freezing for me but I'm sure mild for you guys. Yesterday we had an unseasonably warm winters day of approx 20C (68F) and I wore shorts and a T-shirt all day. Our summers are quite hot ranging anywhere from 25C (77F) to 40C (104F) - it also gets very humid - last summer ranged from 70-80% humidity. Our weather in Sydney I think is very similar to California.

Glad you found a solution. It really does sound like she enjoys herself.
  17. Uuuggg some people are so rude!!! I think if people just learned to speak politely to each other we would much less problems :x
  18. Newfiemom, Indy did the same thing to my Dad. He was over at thier place being puppysat while I was away. Dad got a new shed and was about to start constructing it and Indy ran off with and ate the instructions. Luckily his neighbour had the same shed and he kept going over to look how his was put together.
  19. Mouse that is so funny about having the meal in your car. Shara - Courtnek is right - we are opposite to you guys. Though our winter is nothing like yours but for me it's still bloody cold.
  20. Sounds totally gross to me, but it does sound like something dogs would like. Let us know if Zebra likes them if you do decide to try it.
  21. As some of you already know Indy is not great with other dogs so off leash parks are generallyout of the question for him. However I have decided that they really do need to be able to run around off leash in an area that is bigger than our back yard so tonight Michael and I took them to the dog park - though we waited till it was fairly late and dark so that our two dogs would be the only ones there. I was right - no one else was crazy enought to be out late at night in the middle of winter at the dog park so we had the whole place to ourselves. What types of things does everyone else do for thier dogs that most "normal" people wouldn't do?
  22. Until you can get to the vet I think Cassie's suggestion is best. If you do give her some sort of pain medication she may feel ok and then go and do too much and injure herself further.
  23. I don't know about odd but we have lost two remote controls. Indy chewed ours and then I realised that we had the same video at work that no one was using so I took the remote control home... we had it for about 6 months and then Kira chewed it. I hope they never ask for it back
  24. Good job girls
