1. Good job. I really do think an older dog is the best choice for your Nan. Wishing her the best of luck in her search for a new companion.
 2. What about chicken wings? They won't leave any mess on the carpet as they are gone pretty quickly but are still good for the teeth. I also give the large marrow bones and you would be surprised how much of them they eat. They get all the marrow out first then spend hours chewing away on the rest of the bone. They don't totally eat it but it starts at approx 20cm long and ends up at about 10cm. Even Kira my new little girl chomps through hers though she does take twice as long as Indy. Though think yourself luck you live in an apartment. Indy likes to take his outside get it caked in as much dirt as possible then bring in back inside and eat in on the carpet. He knows big hunks of dirt are not allowed in the house so he tries to sneak it in when I am not looking  The first time he tried it the bone had that much dirt all over it I thought it was some kind of dead animal :o
 3. Is the law to stop dogs being in the back of pickups (or utes as we call them  ) full stop or just to have them restrained while in here. Here it is the law for dogs to be securely restrained in the back of utes. Which I think is a good thing and really don't see why people would have a problem with that. Except if people are too lazy to take the 10 seconds to secure their dog???? However since it can get so hot here I also worry about the dogs being on the metal surface. I know in summer there are times when I burn my hands just from touching the steering wheel - imagine how hot the metal floor of an open truck would get. :-? :-?
 4. Yay - congratulations! Photo's please

 6. That is so cute. :P Happy Anniversary
 7. My four came out as ALASKAN MALAMUTE DEERHOUND IRISH WOLFHOUND BORZOI Well it seems that the Alaskan malamute is for me  I don't really know much at all about the others mentioned. I think tests like that are good for people who don't have a dog and really don't know where to start but for me I find the answers a bit restrictive. For example one of the questions was the coat length however there are some breeds I love that have very short hair and then there are others that have very long hair so no matter what I pick it's going to discount some of the dogs I love. I guess rather than getting a dog that suits me to a T I'm prepared to adapt to meet the dogs needs.
 8. Good job Mouse
 9.
Americans are overweight and obese because of dogs.
I'm with Courtnek on this one - I have never heard anything so stupid.
 10. Congratulations!!! That is great news.
 11. Good to hear
 12. First question, what are the girls doing when the dog snaps and growls? Second question, what ages are all the kids? Is there a big difference between the boy and the girls?
 13. Yep, I use heartgard plus.
 14. HF, how are all the kids doing?
 15. Hi Guest. Just a tip - your post may get more attention if you actually started a new thread of your own rather than just posting on the end of an old one. I also have a big dog - approx 100lbs and have found that as long as you are commited to giving the dog the exercise it needs then a huge back yard isn't essential. Dogs don't exercise themselves so even if you did have a huge backyard it's not like it's going to do laps and exercise itself. It's better off being taken out for a long walk or run everyday by you.

 22.
but the truth is, animals are so abundant that not all of them can be cared for and loved. a lot of dogs probably die in a foreign country. there is nothing you can do. and there is just too many dogs.
Maybe not, but we can care for our dogs to the best of our ability and if we like to talk about that here then that is our prerogative.
its ok if u try, but what im saying is it is taking it too far when u would have a human die than an animal. a dog farmer or others that mistreats dogs have a mindset that dogs are objects.
In the year or so that I have been a member at Dogo I have never seen anyone say they would have a human die over an animal. Well that is until you bought it up yesterday and I think everyone was just being facetious. It's a silly point to argue anyway - how many of us are ever going to be in an instance where we have the choice to save either a puppy farmer or a dog - I would say none of us so it's a stupid thing to even discuss.
you people see a stereotypical person as the antichrist or something. some people just do not like animals. if a person yells at you about ur dog, understand that they do not have the same kind of love u have for your pet and that he or she is frightened of getting hurt. yes, i know a properly trained dog does not attack a stranger, but some do. and maybe the person got bit when he was a child
I have no problem with people who don't like dogs. However I do have a very big problem with rude people. If I am walking my dog down the street minding my own business and obeying all laws then no one has any right to be rude to me about my dog. If they are scared that is fair enough they can take a wide berth and stay at a "safe" distance. There is no need for any abuse or rude comments to take place.
and about the chicken comment, it was an example to back up my point. and there are some who said some stupid sh*t in my last topic, but i really dont want to waste the time arguing over some points that were made. (some real stupid ones.)
You asked why are we so worried about dog abuse but not chicken abuse. We never said that we weren't concered with chicken abuse but as this is a dog forum it kind of makes sense that we would be more likely to talk about dogs.
but like ive said, if u hate a puppy farmer that much to let him die, thats taking it too far. no matter how many sins he committed, it is not ok to kill a person. your dog maybe important to you, but the person dying is more important to his family and friends. nobody deserves to die
. WTF!!!!! No one here as ever said anything about killing anyone. You really are just getting silly now.
and the next time a person is scared of your pit bull, dont make a topic about it so you can start talking sh*t to him with other people. try to understand their point of view.
As stated before this is a dog forum and we are all here to discuss all aspects of dog ownership. If somone does something to upset one of us in relation to our dogs then it is only natural to want to share it and get it off our chest with other like minded people. However I don't think anyone has ever said anything negative about a person who has shown a genuine fear of their dog - most of the posts along those lines are becuase a total stranger has been extremely rude for no valid reason.
 23. I'm no expert but I would only fast the dogs if you think it is some sort of tummy bug. If it is purely the food that is causing the upset then it's just going to start again as soon as you feed them. What about just feeding them a small amount of something very bland such as some cooked chicken and rice. I can imagne that would be hard with 10 dogs but if they manage to keep that in then at least you know for sure that it's the Solid Gold.
 24.
That would be great if you could use Haley as a demo dog! And am I mistaken, or do you have a tripod too? They make wonderful therapy dogs for children with disabilities, it's something many of them can relate to, and helps them overcome that feeling of being "different" .
Lokipups - Hayley is the "tripod" or three legged dog
