1. I'd rather use a prevenative and stop the dogs getting fleas in the first place than having to deal with them once they have them.
2. I am sorry to hear that you are going through such a horrible situation but as everyone else has said you are making the best the decsision for everyone - Patti included.
3. Ahhh what I wouldn't give to have a set of abs like that.... or even to have someone with a set of abs like that
4. I can't really add anything to what the others have suggested but wanted to poke my head in an ask a really silly question. What is a coon? Is it a shortened term for a racoon?
5. LOL they just love to do that. Indy had done that to us a couple of times and he is 100lbs - and it's worse when he has a run off :-?
6. I guess for us deciding on a Malamute was one of those things that just happened. Michael and I both wanted a big dog and between us came up with a list of dogs that was quite varied and was something like: Golden Retriever Dalmatian Rottweiler Alaskan Malamute Michael had had a thing for Malamutes since he was about 5 and used to collect pictures of them and keep them is a scrapbook (how cute huh), but it wasn’t really a breed that was on my radar. We were more leaning towards a Rottie as that was something that we both seemed to be able to agree on. However after hoping on the net and doing tones of reading on Malamutes I was convinced they were the dog for us. The main points that drew me to them were that they don’t often bark (incessant barking drives me nuts), don’t need to be bathed very often, don’t have that doggy smell and are great house dogs. The thing that I love about my two the most is their cheeky personalities and the fact that they make me giggle by doing something silly at least once a day. Oh and who could not love snuggling to something that is like a huge fluffy teddy bear.
7. Happy Birthday Jada :bday: :bday: :bday: Wow - she is gorgeous.
8. It's so scary when they are sick. I'm so glad she is feeling better now.
9. I don't know about Kira as we haven't had a big storm since we had her. Indy is really not fussed. A while ago when I got home from work it was looking pretty ominoius with lots of dark cloulds overhead, however I was sure Indy and I could get a quick walk in before it started to rain - WRONG!! When we were about half way (same distance to turn back as to keep going) it stared to really rain hard and there was also thunder and lightning happening every few minutes. I'm glad he wasn't freaked out by it as it's not like I could have picked him up and carried him home. We just sprinted the whole way and were both soaked to the skin by the time we got home (just in time for the power to go out).
10. We have just had air con installed in our house and it is fantastic. It's winter here at the moment so we are using it for heating (no more freezing when I go to bed) however can't wait for summer now. I bet our dogs are going to love it - they are not to keen on the newly heated house at the moment though but refuse to go outside. They would prefer to be inside with us and hot than outiside and cool
11.
Why does a person have to keep a very large and very risky *wild* animal as a pet? I guess that's the question. I can't for the life of me think of any good reasons
Shananigians I'm with you there.. the million dollar question is why? I also can't see any valid reason other than the owners self gratification. I have been giving this whole topic a good deal of thought over the past few days as it is something that has disturbed me quite a bit. The whole idea of exotic pet ownerships is just another indicator that as a species us humans are so self absorbed that we always put our own selfish wants before another living things needs......it's really quite sad and depressing...... :( :( :(
12. I must admit I still don't "get it". As I said earlier the idea of actually owning a tiger etc as a pet would never have occured to me. I really am amazed that so many people seem to.
13. I am so sorry to hear this. My thoughts are with you both.
14. How can we not AWWWWWWW? Golden puppies are the cutest ever.
15. Mouse, that is a big secret. I didn't even know you were waiting for a puppy :o Details please
16. Mei-Mei, I think I understand what Primrose means. Indy knows perfectly well what the come command is however he will only do it if it suits him  He will do it fine in training class or a controlled environment so I consider he knows the come command. However I wouldn't say he has a reliable recall. To me a reliable recall is a dog that will come all the time when called regardless of circumstances.
17. Great to hear. We really are a very friendly site :D
18. I think in todays society so many people do things just because they can. People need to start to realise that just because they can do something doesn't always mean they should.
19. Excellent post Amber. I agree with you 100%.
20. I would keep a close eye on it to see if it changes in anyway, such as size or colour. If it does I would check with your vet - it probably wouldn't hurt to point it out next time you go anyway just to be on the safe side.
21. Just adorable :D
22. ahh Pitbullmix that there is the problem. We can't ban the troublemaker because they won't join. That is why we were looking at going down the route of having only members be able to post.
23. Oh my..l that really is one very big cat!! :o It's not murderously aggressive is it
24. Mouse, I like your style 8)
25. I used to wash Indy's by hand every night with hot soapy water and put it in the dishwasher once a week. Cleaning it never seemed to bother him - but then again he is a guts and can't resist any type of food. Since we got Kira I don't really stuff the kong with food anymore since I don't leave them with things that have the potential to cause fights.
