Poor Goo! :o Good for you for taking quick action to save a bad situation from getting worse. Obviously Buddy's humans don't run things, Buddy does! Or he would not be back out hanging around after just attacking the neighbor's leashed dog! Geeze! Some owners don't have a clue! Give Goo a big hug from me, Ben, & Max! Hope she is okay and not stressed out by the attack.

Thanks you guys for your support. I do appreciate it more than you will ever know. He had been to the vet late this spring and there was no swelling then. He was at two vets in the last month and there was no swelling. This has come on all of a sudden; so it is not good and his vet has already been making suggestions for worst-case scenarios. So my guess is, the vet is pretty sure this is cancer. You are so right, Cassie. I feel totally powerless...that is gutwrenching for any person whose faithful companion is very ill. I have to get off this thread now. I have cried enough for today.. I will know for sure after the 30th. Thank you, everyone.

 Just got off the phone with Max's vet. He had blood work done to see why ALL his lymph glands are enlarged. There was a slim chance it might have been some sort of systemic infection after his leg surgery, but no, it is not. There is no elevation of his white cell count. In fact, his blood work looks fine other than his proteins being a little low (he has not been eating well at all lately). SO....the next step is to use a needle to aspirate some cells from one of the enlarged glands to see whether or not he has lymphoma. I really don't want to put him through a more invasive procedure, such as a biopsy, right now. This will be done on the thirthieth of this month as his vet will be out of town until then. And if it is cancer, then my Max won't have much longer to live even with steriods or chemo. He is my best boy...what will I do without him if is lymphoma?

Have you got too much dog hair at your house? I know I do! There are craftspeople out there on the internet who will make yarn out of the soft undercoat of your dogs! Look at what can be done with dog hair: This scarf was made from Golden Retriever hair! I just love the color. I wonder what color scarf my saint's hair would make? And some people make dog sweaters from their own dog's hair....cool! :D

I'm bad with names....so no help here! But I just had to post that she is a gorgeous girl! Very lovely. Hey! Call her "Angel"! See, I told you I'm no good with names!

Marion, Marble, & Daisymom - Thanks for the well-wishes for my furkid Max. As soon as I know the results of his bloodwork I will let you know!! :D And, Marion, I'm so glad Cleo is okay. She sure looks like a sweet little girl in the pics you posted! :D

His hair is growing very slowly. His leg still looks goofy, but he has some stubble now!

Well, we are back from our vet...and I feel slightly like an overprotective mom. Turns out (Starfox - you might be interested in this) that the weeping of the drain tube is normal as the hole heals from the inside out. The warmth or heat is also within normal parameters. Plus his weight loss is only about 2 pounds since the start of this whole surgery thing. BUT....what was not normal (as I suspected) is that ALL of his lymph glands are swollen, not just the one in his groin area. So, they drew some blood and are going to run a full screen on it. It is not typical for all the glands to be blown up. He was running only a very slight temp...that could be accounted for by his anxiety and closeness of the exam room. NOW...I have to wait for a phone call to see if there is a problem such as lymphoma... :o or if he is normal and the swelling of the glands is just a quirky fluke. More worry.... :-? He was a good boy.....but he was awfully glad to be going home! Thanks for your concern every one! It means a lot.

Max's leg where he had his surgery is hot! I am concerned about it. His incision is healing nicely, and the drain tube hole on the outside of his leg is healing well. But the drain tube hole on the inside of his knee is looking bad and his leg around that area is hot to the touch. I've been cleaning it with a little hydrogen peroxide on a cotton pad. This "second choice" antibiotic doesn't seem to be doing the trick. He's really not eating. So tomorrow morning I am calling Max'x regular vet to have him take a look. Poor Max! :-?

When we were returning from Chicago with our newly adopted Ben we pulled into a Burger King off the highway and ordered a meal for ourselves and a cheeseburger (plain) for him. The gal at the window spotted Ben (hard not to in the back of a mustang with the seats folded down) and started cooing and baby talking him out the window. When she passed out our sack of food she said, "I hope you don't mind, but I put in a whopper plain for your doggie -- he's just so cute!" Ben enjoyed his bought burger and his freebie burger....a real chow hound!

Daisymom - Good for you!! Maybe the "scared lady" learned something from your example! Plus you got to pet a friendly dog, and who can pass that up?!

Gosh, those puppies were cute! Thanks for posting the link - can never have too many puppy pictures!! :D

I'm sorry that you and your pup were the victim of that sort of prejudice. It is discouraging for your dog to be judged because of someone's preconceived notion regarding the breed. Even more so when you know that your pup would have been fine in the situation. :-? Probably each of us with a large dog has experienced this sort of discrimination. Although the "your kind aren't welcome here" stands out as very hurtful and unjust! I have a rottie who is the best natured fellow. Recently I have had to take him to a busy vet's office (not my own vet's office) due to some surgery he had to have and each time I have gone in other customers have given him the evil eye! The last time he was in a couple of old cocker spaniels growled and barked at him as he was laying on the floor at my feet. Their owner yanked on their leads and glared at Max like he was evil personified! :-? He didn't even lift his head off the floor! That's not an attitude I would expect other dog owners to have. Now if I were to take my saint in, the reaction would be totally different even though he is far more powerful than my rottie! Go figure! That same day as we were leaving a young man was bringing in his lovely little pit bull for an appointment. He saw us coming and yanked his dog's lead saying, "Come on KILLER. Leave him alone!" and hustled him inside. What kind of image do you think this fellow wants to project? :-?

Max looks great!! What a cute face to have under your username! :D :D

Hey! There's been a photo miracle! Today I can see your pics, Kiger1 He IS a cutie! And so is Kato as well!  I'm always so surprised at how small Kato is when he is pictured with a human. Seen by himself he looks like a much larger fellow! :iloveyou: Oh, that water looks so cooling.... :D I might have to go to my sister's house in town for a dip in her pool, followed by a chaser in her spa! I wish I had my very own.. :(
-
Yes! She needs a place to store all of her pictures, and articles, and important stuff! :D :D
-
Wah! :bigcry: :bigcry: Thanks for posting the links for me Kiger. But when I click on them I get the dreaded white "page cannot be displayed" screen. I do appreciate your thoughtfulness.... :( It might be on my end. We have a server here at the house and a wireless network connected to it for our laptops. Maybe it has to do with how this is all configured? I can't see pictures from Bahrain either, and they can't see mine. Can you see the ones I post? I'll try again later. Thankyou!
-
Yes, I think you do! :o But why didn't she put it in her scrapbook instead of chewing it up?
-
Dang! I cannot see the "S.S. Kato", just the dreaded X! I can see HF's lovely swimmer! So cute!

It seems like yesterday, and that's only natural when you loved him so deeply. He is watching over you!
