1.
The breeder mentioned earlier as selling mini aussies, kept talking about how they had been breeding cattle dogs for a long time, loved the breed, etc. The strange thing is, theyre selling "mini" australian sheperds. Quite a reputable breeder indeed. Most of these people sound like they have low moral standards, no interest in the dogs, and are basically just perverting ACD's and aussie sheperds.
This one? http://www.pics.net/~cranch/aussie.html Bentley's Dad --- post a picture of Bentley, will you!? :P
 2. We are finally home. It was a long day. There were so many dogs there with hip dysplasia ---- so sad. A man brought his Dane in and was saying that he had another dog but it snapped at his child so, .... yep, you guessed it --- it went to the pound. Then he was told that Boxers don't like other dogs, but Danes do and since they are both GREAT with children, ..... he bought a Dane. He's sitting there telling this lady that the Dane is sooooo good with his son and loves other dogs. EVERY dog that walked by, the Dane growled and lunged at the dog!! :-? We were sitting next to where you pay and here he comes to pay --- the Dane is on a loose lead and is eye-balling Guy. I'm thinking, I will kick the snot out of this dog if he lunges at Guy. I finally asked the man to keep his Dane a little closer to him and alot farther away from me. He said, "Oh he loves people". I said, it's NOT me I'm worried about. Guy was on the other side of me. He finally left. Guy, of course, wanted to visit with everyone in there and play with every dog ---- except...  a Pug. It scared him to death. I was laughing so hard at him. He just didn't know what that "thing" was. He'd look at the Pug, then look at me. It was so cute. He'd look, then look at me and I swear he was laughing at that Pug. The vet was nice, but Guy is the first one that he's done the proceedure on (almost got teary eyed there for a moment). MAJOR CONCERN! He assured us that several experienced vet's would be in the surgery room to assist. It took about 2 hours for him to explain the entire proceedure and us to ask every possible question and scenario. Never, ever look at your spouse with that, "I'm either fixing to pass plum out or just fall down and cry" look! Trust me, you WILL have to then use every ounce of composure to NOT do just that. Today was hard, very hard.
 3. MORE. Because, they can claim a NEW and RARE breed: Parson Russell Terrier.
 4.

Three days later, the bitch drove back up to our gate, this time she didn't open it ---- she was calling our dogs to her Jeep as I was coming out of the house. I saw her bend over and pick up a female Kelpie pup (just happened to have been Guy's sister, Kiley).
Does she have her dogs listed on a website? Or can you get someone to go "looking for a pup to buy" at the woman's house, and see if she's there? I'd check any kelpie or kelpie mix litters I saw advertised or heard about, that way if someone's breeding her, maybe you can find her. If you can find her, you can prove it's her by tracing the DNA back to your dogs (assuming the parents are still around, or I guess any close relative would work?). I couldn't help but think about how nice it would have been if your fence was "hotwired" when she leaned over it to get the dog
She doesn't have a website. I check ALL of her ad's. Kiley is only 7 months old. The major problem is, I don't know a soul here. No one that I could get to go over there to look around. I still have her mother, so DNA can be matched. Knowing her, she dumped her on the side of the road or sold her at the flea market (that's just the kind of low life that she is). We contacted every flea market, put up posters with her picture on it, but no word so far. I keep hoping that we'll eventually find her.
 5. I agree with you. It's a money making thing.
 6.
Only mini heelers I have seen here are Lancashire Heelers which look a mini pin with more bone and a longer stockier body, short legs and are usually black & tan or a chocolate colour
Hey Corgilady -- TAKE A LOOK AT THEM!! http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/lancashireheeler.htm Welsh Corgi and Manchester Terrier cross. These mini heelers these people are talking about are Australian Cattle Dogs (Heelers) crossed with a Chihuahua or Rat Terrier.
 7. Thanks. This has been the longest week (longer I can bet for Connie waiting for the results for her son). I am sitting here, he is asleep and I'm getting nauseated just thinking about the trip, the surgery and everything involved. He is clueless, sleeping like an angel. You wouldn't believe how much the leg has changed in one weeks time. I am glad that the time is almost here for it to be fixed and hopefully everything will be okay. He'll be just fine in a few months, back to playing, back to his old self. It's just the intrim that will be worrisome.
 8.

Then speak to this friend and tell her that the vet's office will no longer allow your mom to bring the dog to the vet and get the meds that they will be charging her. Perhaps, the fact that she may have to be paying for the insulin, visits, etc. and may not be able to afford it may have some effect and you could tell her there is a rescue or person that would be willing to take her and find a forever home with the proper care that she need
This is a very good idea. I have the feeling that your friend won't be interested in the dog once she learns the costs associated with it. Don't feel badly. Sometimes helping a dog takes a little longer than anticipated. They don't automatically get into their forever home. It can take awhile.
Yeah, Goo --- maybe itemize or give her an example of what it could possibly cost (make it on the HIGH side). Just look at this as her temporary home before the forever home. As bad as it seems, this home is a lot better than being on the street, homeless. At least she's dry and warm. I bet grouchy dog threw a fit with a new dog in his domain (kingdom)! He should be delighted to have someone to boss around.
 9.
Hobbit, I don't like to encourage illegal behavior, but I think that woman needs a beat-down and badly. I think we'll all help. :x
:onfire: :2gunfire: Matches and gasoline have come to mind, several times.
 10.
Jacsmom, You're so right about the ad where they posted they wanted a dog for an autistic child. As you know, my younger son is autistic. It is difficult to find a dog that can tolerate both the noise my son makes and his sometimes strange behavior. He and Devi get along beautifully. Lhiannon Sidhe loves him, but Devi is his special friend. Shanahan (my son) likes to take Devi by the paws and walk with her, which she actually likes to do. I think most dogs would nip at a child, autistic or otherwise, that tried to do this.
Isn't that wonderful that some dogs just have that personality to accept a child (or person) for what he is. There isn't any judgement, excuses, less love, just unconditional love. I like animals more than most people.
 11. YES, I would be interested in seeing them....especially the new prospective stud dog!
 12.
Did you end up getting the pup back????
No, we have not gotten her back. We think that, out of pure hatefullness, she dumped her along side the road, gave her away, or sold her at the flea market. I loathe this person. I am still posting the story in the local classifieds. Anytime someone advertises that they have a small breed dog to give away or pretty cheap --- I email them and tell them that she buys small dogs for her puppy mill. Oh, and she has a grooming service. The scissors are rusty, the clipper blades are rusty, she does not disinfect anything, the smell is horrid. Can you tell, I just plain do not like this person? All her "breeding" animals are APR (Animal Purebreed Registry) registered. Anyone ever checked them out? Just send in your money -- no proof necessary of lineage. Send that money and they'll send you a piece of paper that says your dog is purebred! We drive by her house (it's on the way to the feed store) and go real slow and look for her --- at different times during the day and night. We've made it perfectly clear to her adult children that we know she stole our pup ---- her daughter-in-law had the nerve to call and ask if we would sell her a Heeler. I proceeded to tell her why didn't she just come on down here and steal one like her mother-in-law? There was silence on the other end of the phone. She acted like she didn't know --- she lives NEXT door to her (on the same property)! She said, "so do you have any puppies?" :o :o Um......NO! I've seen her dog and it's chained in the yard (they have 40 acres). Nope, no, not in this life-time, never, not going to happen......plain enough for ya daughter-in-law? Now, it is rare that we both are gone at the same time. I make myself so worried thinking about the safety of the dogs that I can't enjoy myself (if we both go). I know that is crazy.....maybe I'm getting dementia? Hum....I still recognize everyone, pretty well.....most of the time....sometime....almost everytime....... :-? kidding, how you NOT recognize these sweet faces?
 13.

Every day when I look in the classified I see puppies that will be 'ready for Christmas.' I wish I could send this story to everyone who placed one of these ads. :x
maybe we all could do that
You know......you could call the number (block your caller Id, first) and say you want one but can't get there right away and want to send them the money ---- get their address, send the story (void of money, of course) and sit back knowing that they read it. Of course 9 out of 10 people would think that it didn't pertain to THEM, because they are perfect. But, maybe......just maybe......one person would change their ways!?
 14.
Kaaaaaaaaaaaa-AaaaaaaY!!! :o between you and eric, i'm spending all my rent money on Kleenex!!
Isn't that the truth!!
 15. Oh......oh.....Keltoy's! OR Minkel's OR Kelmin's..........! And I'm going to charge $1000.00 because they are soooooo rare.
 16. :evilbat: just ridiculous. I contacted one breeder of the "mini" Aussies and she said her two original sire & dam came from normal parents. I pressed further and she gleefully told me that the "normal" parents were AKC (figures) registered and were full brother to sister mating and the resulting pups were, "mini". Then I made the mistake of saying..."dwarf", which resulted in a primal scream, followed by banshee screeching. My parting words were, "a rose is a rose, by any other word it's still a rose!". I can imagine these "mini's and toys" are severely inbred, crossed with Shelties or Corgis (but the ears aren't right) --- so my bet is either of the first two theories. I don't buy the, "oh it just happened", because there are way to many of them to have been "just bred down in size from normal parents" (hasn't been enough time, genetically speaking). Just like the "mini and teacup" Heelers ---- they are CROSSED WITH SOMETHING! :evilbat: And it's ALL for the MONEY. I think we're going to start crossing the Kelpies with Mini-pins (since the color is the same) and have "mini-Kel's". Sound like a plan?
 17.
Hobbit glad I had a BOY!!!
You are LUCKY. Man, the gypsies wouldn't even buy my daughter because she was so mean!
 18.
Okay the one that got me the most was the last one....Why?? A poodle/cockapoo mix for an autistic child... It would be much better if they looked into a program that fitted their child with a dog... To me it sounds like a bite looking for a place to happen.. :x
I think some people just lie to make other people feel sorry for them ---- thinking that someone will give her a dog free, if she says it's for an ill child. Back in July a woman (my spouse went to school with her husband) showed up at our gate (uninvited) and just opened it like she lived here, drove in and proceeded to look around. Unluck would have it, we were at the barn. So I asked her what she wanted (this is off topic, by the way, but still a good story). She said she wanted our Border Collie pup (a male), because she just bought a female Australian Shepherd at the flea market and as soon as she came into heat --- she was'a gonna breed'em. AND she owns a small puppy mill --- . Oh yeah, I absolutely can not stand this woman. So, I told her in some many words NOT IN A MILLION YEARS WOULD I EVER GIVE OR SELL HER ANY OF OUR DOGS. Upon hearing this, she said, "Taylor is going to start crying and be so sad because you won't give her that pup". Taylor (7 yrs old) is her grand-daughter, that lives with her. Being the unsympathic person that I am --- I looked at Taylor and said, "Cry if you want to, the pup is not for sale". Ol' grandma threw a cussing fit, which lead to an explaination of how they are working dogs and not suitable as pets (especially to HER). She stormed off, went home and sent a scathing email. Well, being the adult person that I am  , I promptly answered her email and was NOT in the least bit nice or cordial. Three days later, the bitch drove back up to our gate, this time she didn't open it ---- she was calling our dogs to her Jeep as I was coming out of the house. I saw her bend over and pick up a female Kelpie pup (just happened to have been Guy's sister, Kiley). I went to hollering, she drove off. I called the Sheriff's office, they contacted her, she said she didn't do it (of course), CASE CLOSED. I, in total flames, drove to her house and DEMANDED my pup back! She called the Sheriff's office (which are worthless), they said leave or go to jail....but, she has my puppy --- I SAW HER PICK HER UP AND I WANT HER BACK, "Ma'am, she said she didn't take her" --- I kept saying, "I saw her pick her up". The Deputy: "Oh, that is not enough evidence to prosecute". Then I explained that I had been a Detective for MOST of my 16 years of Law Enforcement and YES, THAT WAS ENOUGH EVIDENCE. I am totally charred by now ------------- so, I posted everywhere I could, in every vet clinic, every single store in town, in any advertisment I could find, in every laundry mat, in every restaurant in town, every feed store ---- EVERYWHERE that would let me put up a poster of what she done! I guess I'm ranting because after 4 months she got her nerve up to drive down the road that we live on (she has NO business on our road) and as UNLUCK would have it, I was down by the road trimming tree limbs. I was so mad that I stomped all the way back to the house, about a mile ---- FORGOT THE PICKUP ---- I just was so mad, then got madder when I got home and realized that in my anger that I FORGOT the pickup!! Then I had to walk back and get it --- I cussed her the entire time. Okay --- I feel much better after that total rant.
 19. Your friend has no idea what she is doing to the dog by not keeping her on her shot schedule. Her blood sugar drops, she gets disoriented, becomes afraid and fear bites someone; then is put to sleep because the "responsible" (used very loosely) person was to self-absorbed to properly medicate her. Or her shot is forgotten totally or "put-off" until such a time that is more convenient for the "responsible" (again used loosely) medication person and she has a seizure, goes into a coma and dies (which may be better in the long run). Maybe she would be delighted to give her up since she is now a special needs dog, that will utimately end up costing her money in the future?
 20. Dogs have amazing feet. They take so much abuse from the elements, heal relatively fast and are always ready to take the dog anywhere -- :P !
 21.
I was very upset about what the teacher thought...if she saw it. I wanted to cry...for a minute...but about fell over laughing instead!:o Connie
He probably thought NOTHING of it and the adults are the ones that freaking out! That is a riot.
 22. Swimming is an excellent way to get a dog fit. I agree with bk -- where do all the idiot animal owners come from?
 23. Frightening, isn't it! I wouldn't give or sell ANY of these people anything...NOT even a stuffed animal! :-?
 24.
Those are real ads...seriously? A Rott as a jogging partner? A St. Burnard? :o
Yep, totally real. I wish now that I would have kept the website so you could have seen some of the ridiculous ad's in there.
 25. Girlfriend! They are flirting with YOU!! You just gave them an excuse to get their nerve up to talk to you.....you sneaky girl!
