NEVER MIND ---- it's official, I'm going to stop taking Guy's meds! Here's the picture I had in my mind --- thought it was posted by someone else, but was posted by Nearstorm.

Wasn't this dogs picture posted? I remember seeing a picture of a dog that was chained to the side of what looked like the house. Nearstorm wasn't clear if the dog is a she or he, in the BB post.

Okay, I went for a minute to Barking-booties. This is what Nearstorm posted --- wasn't this description posted by someone else? Could there be another multiple name person here? i just came from dogmainia and i was told this is the place for thier regects. and the way i see them talking to each other id love to be a reject if you will have me. i dont have a dog with a piece of paper that says hes good enough and he doesnt do fancy tricks yet :o) hes a half breed, part sheltie and part rat terrier. i have 7 kids and all my kids love tyson. hes alittle over 3 months old. i also have a 4 year old mut whos so mixed it would take a week to say what she is. shes an outside dog on a 25 foot log chain. chained to the garage. that is her house when she wants to have somewhere to go. she also has a dog house outside. shes chained with a huge log chian since she had broken or chewed through everything. yes including cable . her collar is also a 2 1/2 foot long log chain. yes that is how long it has to be to get around her neck. shes well over 100 pounds. she hates to be in the house and always has. shes strong enough that we have had to fix holes in the garage wall from her breaking it just by getting all excited with the kids coming to play with her. she gets to run out in the county on a regular basis. i dont make any apollogies for chaining my dog, shes very happy , eats well and loves everyone. unless your a car going down the alley then his duty is to bark at you while wagging her tail as hard as she can. we love her and tyson just like our kids. if you think that you can live with me being here then great. id be happy to be a so called reject :o)

I am trying so hard not to fall out of my chair from laughing! It's like playing the gossip game in school. Outstanding!
:o Well Im sure youl hear about the 45 year old man posing as an 11 year old girl....
45 year old man, huh? Who's yo daddy! Didn't I tell you guys it wasn't a girl and it was an adult male? Oh yeah....doing the strut dance now! Oh, glad you're back okay USMCByrd!!

I would rather suck an anal sac dry than to cut nails. I don't know why, it's just not my most favorite thing to do. The pups and young dogs aren't so bad, but the older dog's nails are hard as rocks! Nice hard nails.
-
Money, it all boils down to money. I have heard so many times the comment, "I can charge more for the puppies if they are AKC registered".
-
Is it my imagination or his legs really short for his body? His ears are not Saint ears. Maybe --- Livestock Guardian Dog cross? The ears are what's got me. They don't look like either breed. Cute little pup. I would love to see him when he's all grown up.
-
Do you know I can't even course her because of her coat? Most are AKC related. They won't even let her do what they are breed to do because of her looks. There's more to it than looks, dogs need to do what they are meant to do. Of course, chasing a lure isn't exactly what they are meant to do, but it's the next best thing. She can't, just because of the length of her hair and the name. It's sad. Connie
Connie, why on earth do you and other's put up with AKC's crap? AKC is not a GOD, they are NOT the last resort. Just because a dog isn't registered with the almighty AKC, doesn't mean it's worthless. I will not duck the fire on this one. Just do the math and you'll see how much money the AKC makes on registering dogs, on their DNA testing (because they won't allow another lab to do the analysis), their shows, etc... it's a multi-million dollar business. If there was absolutely no money in it, do you really think they'd still be in business? I am so amazed that everyone is so neuter/spay pro-voiced, but AKC won't allow a neutered or spayed dog to compete ---- what does that tell you? If AKC was so "let's not over populate the world", then they should allow neutered and spayed dogs to compete alongside the intact ones. AND an AKC breeder/owner/shower should do whatever it took to get this rule changed. That was a little off topic. Okay, why don't owners of the LH Whippet just ban together and tell AKC to kiss your butt and start holding your own shows, coursing trials, whatevers? This is just opinion, but I'm sick and tired of (some) AKC owners and their smug attitudes about their "AKC-better-than-thou" dogs. And their look-down-their-nose expression at a non-AKC registered dog. It shouldn't matter if the dog was registered. If it's a good dog and it's your pet and you love it; that is all that matters. Just by looking, without asking, a person can't tell if a dog has papers or not or what registry he/she is registered with ----- the dog doesn't care either.

I totally forgot this until just now.....you can buy skunk scent at gag gift shops! If you really want me to, I'll soak a scarf in it and send it. I really don't think it would make it thru customs, though!
-
Hum....yeah like MeiMei says --- smells like a skunk. It's kind of like a Big Red (soft drink), it's taste is hard to describe --- just like the skunk smell > hard to describe.
-
Yum...mini dark chocolate. So, if you put two mini-dark chocolates together; you'd have a dozen pretty soon, huh?
-
.......oh, the biting thing. She views you as her playmate and that's how playmates play. Keep working with her by giving her toys or redirecting her attention. You will probably have to re-establish your alpha status everyday. She is just playing and you're the playmate! My opinion, get a firm grip on this now. Another good game --- we play lots of hide-n-seek. And "spider hand", yep --- I'll catch Hobbit laying down and start crawling my hand towards him. The closer I get, the hard his tail wags and the more he squeals! Then I grab and tickle him. We laugh so hard, I can hardly breathe. Probably wouldn't work with your girl, because she'd want to bite you! I also tie a 100 ft light weight rope onto a liter pop bottle and pull it around. They'll chase it all day. Then I take the rope off and let them play with bottle. They bounce it all over the yard, push it, throw it and have a great time.
My first dog when I left home was a kelpie x and I used to take her to the kiddies playground and take her over the equipment I taught her to climb the ladders and go down the slide It also gave me a chance to work on sits and stays .
Koolie --- excellent. I thought I was the only person that done things like that. That is an excellent way to train a herding dog. They learn many different commands while playing and it's lots of fun. The dog learns: go under, get on top, go thru, go around, go between, etc....it makes it so easy when you start putting them on stock (not that you will Marble, but you never know  ). Marble, this is really fun for the dog. It is challenging and a great game, especially if you can find a playground that has fence with no one there. Turn the dog loose and play all day!! Be sure to talk to her the entire time, like --- tell her what you want her to do and then show her how to do it (if she doesn't catch on).
-
oh good grief, for some reason i forgot the stuff i'd read about the bad stages after a twelve months and was just thinking she was going to keep getting better.......she was a lot worse.......but she could probably get a lot worse than that too...and i've been hoping she is going to get a whole lot better. i don't mind the hyper part, it's the biting (hard biting), stealing, jumping, not listening, no attention span, bad attitude, provocative stuff that i thought was going to be over sometime soon......
Oh my, I didn't know that you knew my daughter!! You must, because you just DESCRIBED HER!!

Daisymom -- only you can make that decision. Please don't let anyone make that decision for you, because you may regret it. You know in your heart that you don't want your beloved dog suffering and having a dimenished quality of life. I know you love her and will know in heart when the right time comes to ease her pain, permanently. My best friend is 11 yrs old and her health is failing. She was my right hand gal for so many years while working cattle & goats. She has always been next to my side. She saved my butt many, many times from taking a hit or getting hooked by rank cattle. I owe my life to her. My heart is hers. I, too, will have to make that decision one day --- it is not and never will be easy. I will, as I know you will, make the right decision when the time we feel in our heart comes. Take care ~~~
Hate to say it, but the best choise is to probly put her down  . It is probly very painful for her, and she`s probly not having a good life. I can see she is old, and she may be about to die anyway  . Sorry. She`ll be happy in doggie heaven though  !
Can you be any LESS sympathic? If you can't tell, I was being extremely sarcastic.

bk -- that was so unselfish and caring. I am really sorry that you had to do that; but he's safe and secure (the little escape artist). I feel your heartbreak. We have three that absolutely will NOT stay anyplace that they consider confinement. It's frustrating. Nothing works. Electric fence doesn't slow them down; one just grabs it with his mouth and breaks it into or pulls it down. You can see him any time and not be stressed everytime you leave the house wondering if he'll escape or tear the house down. Again, sorry you had to do that --- chin up, he's still yours, you can see him anytime.
-
what does a skunk's stinkbomb smell like?
Actually, from a distance, I like the smell of a skunk. NOT up close and personal, though. It depletes the imediate area of oxygen (not really, but seems that way). You can't breathe, your eyes sting and when the oil gets in your lungs (from breathing the skunk oil saturated air) you continue to breath it FOR DAYS and even MONTHS. NASTY -----

:o I thought Digit was a Gorilla. And didn't Digit have a kitty named "ball" or something like that? Boy, that was way off topic.
-
Jacsmom -- he'll put his leg down when resting, but just refuses to use it at all. We have walked him slow (which is almost impossible) and let him play with Hobbit and Sakari. He does slap the fire out of Sakari with the halo'ed leg while playing. It hurts, she runs away and just looks at him. Then stalks him and pounces. When it gets too wild, she has to go outside for a minute with Hobbit and play with him outside. MeiMei -- we have a nice stock pond that in the summer Guy loves to swim in. I think it's too cold to swim, although; all the dogs still go swimming! Brrrrrrrr.

Oh Carol  ! Yeah, pointing is rude and just plain old "no manners".
