sweet I know she is gonna have more questions in the near future so prep your friend for an inslot of ignorance!

you know, thats fine because the first line of my response was "I dont know a whole lot about the dog" what you said makes sense but honestly I dont see a WHOLE lot of differance between what I said and what you said. either way she needs to teach the dog to behave, right? I gave MY methods and refered to others methods. so I did what I could, I'm glad you showed up and said what you did, but this place would be quite dull if responses were only givin by owners of that specific breed. you told her to establish an off comand and told her that the dog would compete for dominance. our methods may be differant, but the goal and product is the same
...You can't beat it out of them...
come on I never said anything like BEAT IT OUT OF HER. dogs are animals none the less and I have seen wonderful things done with dogs by being stern, not abusive but stern, and your right I never had a heeler but I gave a piece of my doggy knowledge in a helping spirit and that info I gave can help alot of dogs and their owners out there, maybe not your highty mighty heeler but all in all it was sound advice

are you moving to george? that would be awsome! just make sure youv got a swimming hole to frequent! I'm not sure what to do about ants outdoors or bees but INDOORS are my specialty! the answer friend.....Geckos, they are quick walk up walls and stay out of the way during the day, I have 2 Geckos that live free in my house and the bug population plummeted the day I let them go. specialaly if you are in eastern wash. they will do very well in your house. spiders are virtually unheard of in my house and we never get flies either. just make sure you dont use rat poison anywhere. if your interested let me know and I'll tell you the kinds I've had the most success with :D

hey byrd, I meant a guest would jump on and try out a reem session but as of late our guests have been pretty withdrawn, its kinda a right of passage here, to get told off by a guest. then you get to type a novel telling them what an illegitamate piece of sh!t they are! its actually quite fun! guest bashing, wooo hoo

what effect does picking a pup up by his neck have? I've heard that it is a comforting mother kind of way to pick the pup up, I've also heard that its a display of dominance over the pup and that it hurts them opinions?

what exactly is it about chocolate that hurts dogs?

my girlfriends sister just moved very far away with her new dobie pup, and I really dont feel she can care for it like it should be so I think I'll be droping her questions here for all you dobie lovers to help me out, as I have never had one either. she is having trouble weaning the dog off wet food, sades the dog, is only a few months old so I told her to wait? is that right? I also told her to not feed her any wet food for 3 days (when the time comes) and let the dog get so hungry that the dry stuff will look like stuffed turkey. any input on this?

yeah, I agree with you but if I'm attacked or more importantly if the dog THINKS I'm attacked and deciedes to defend me, which is in their nature, it's gonna automatically be my/my dogs fault because I've got the dog that killed Diane Whipple! you know its like even if the dogs does its job it'll be put down just from some sh!ty press okay I gotta talk in the mourning just drove 12 hours and I"m beat, just had to logon to see if smoosh caught up -
actually K over here elementry school aged kids eat orange peels to catch a buzz or get high, so your dogs might go looking for more :D

guest, it is perfectly fine pick the pup up by the back of the neck! do it careful and gentle and its fine, besides how is it that you are supposed to "not let it happen" with out pushing her or picking her up and putting her outside? yes positive reinforcement is good but you tackle this problem from BOTH sides of the field, let her KNOW she is wrong to pee in the house and let her KNOW it is good to pee outside, dont give me this only positive crap, lets be realalistic we ARE talking about animals here they CAN take a little punishment. a thrive with correction notice I did not say PAIN I said CORRECTION

okay troll quit asking the same freakin questions because we answered them already just in case you dont remember I'll restate them in terms you can understand 1 GET RID OF THE DOG or 2 MOVE OUT OF DADDIES' HOUSE OR GRAMMA OR WHOEVER or and this is the best choice 3GET THE HELL OUT OF TAIWAIN now if you dont like these choices go to dogomania tawain or someother Taiwain forum. because we think you are torturing your dog. just because she looks happy does not mean she IS a person getting zapped by 100,000 volts sure likes 25,000 better but it is still 25,000 volts. ok my point: your dog does not know what is best, WE DO! you came for our advice we gave it to you.....

I dont know a whole lot about the dog myself, but from here it sounds like a soc. problem. Your dog should be able to "turn it off" when she is in the house and as long as you are Alpha you should be able to stop that behaivor with a verbal command. You obviously must have tried this already so I might try to reastablish dominance of the house. There are many methods of doing this and some were disscussed shortly on a post under the "All about dogs" forum in the "dogs dont get along" subject I went ahead and looked it up for you and it is still there. Skip ahead to page 3 as everything before that is jibber jabber. in a nutshell my 2 surefire methods is to lift the dog into the air until both his feet are off the ground and press his back against the wall. talking VERY sternly, dont yell becasue you are not going for freaked ou,t your going for scared and submissive. When you give commands in this manner make sure it is IMMEDIATLY after he does what he's not supposed to do! if he has a chance to run away or flinch as you come at him, you have already lost your initative. Being lightning fast is half of the effectiveness of this practice. You can also lift him up and "pin" him to the ground for awhile not allowing him to move his legs. also use your stern voice and always say the same phrase when you catch him in the act! this is basically what happens in a pack when the Alpha is showing whos boss this way the dog is forced to "give in" to you. my other way is similar in princaple, by grabing the scruff of his neck and lifting his front paws off the ground a similar effect is achieved, but in older dogs this will sometimes hurt them so be careful, good luck and keep us posted :D

well as bad as it sounds everything might be okay, well you might not have too much of a problem. I knew a husky who managed to swallow a cell phone and a few days later they found it in the yard! :o but go talk to your vet he'll probably X-ray the dog and either say he'll sh*t it out in a couple of days OR were gonna have to go in and get it. worse case you spend a couple 100 bucks and you get a funny story
-
he's got an ACD or Aussie Cattle Dog  and is it now bigger than the average adult male? or almost? either way I'm guessing you may have droped your creatine in his water dish or something! maybe he's not really pure bred and you may have a little of something else in there.......could be Alien :o

well you just made two kinda contradictory statements there,
...NO wild dogs have drop ears as its anti survival...
anti survival vs used only for hunting
No I can't imagine cropping a golden but then birds don't do much damage to ears especially dead ones being retrieved!
so you can see not cropping a retriever because its not part of his job description, yet is it still "anti" survival for these dogs to carry drop ears? see I agree that hunting dogs should have cropped ears. However I dont think its impossible to have a successful hunter with drop ears. or maybe better put, the dog can be successful either way. my question Guest, is where exactly did the drop ears come from? because some dog in some time who was "surviving" had to have drop ears for our dogs to have them now. It is impossible for us to "give" dogs new ears just as it is impossible for us to "give" our dogs the ability to speak english. I dont mean to be critical here and I'm not starting a "fight" I just want to know if you have thought about this before? and if you have shed some light for me
