deepseasnake replied to a topic in Everything about dogs
I figured a boxer could do all of the above and a pit as well actually I'v designed quite the impenitrable defense for my dogs. Even though its only occupied by 2 goldens, who probably just sit, and wait for me to come home. -
how many of you show your dogs or consider yourselves active in the scene?

What is 'Tack the Stomach' mean for big chested breeds?
deepseasnake replied to a topic in Veterinary information
doesn't sound very fun does it, I have not known anyone with a "tacked" stomache either -
Saphire Just Began Having Seizures Please Help!
deepseasnake replied to a topic in Veterinary information
yeah the breeding thing raised a flag for me to but I figured you people would dish out enough for all of us. call me an optimist, I am aware a dog doesn't "get better" from a seizure but the dog can still have good health otherwise. I'm sure that the dog can be restored to full functionality with few exceptions. I'm not a vet but I am a believer, if this was my dog I would educate myself and treat the problem medically and mentaly, if you know what I mean -
I grew up with a mut as a kid she was mostly collie and german shepard her name was tosh, we lived next to a couple acres of forest in an otherwise urban neighborhood. That dog was my babysitter for years. To the candy store to a friends house everywhere I went mom would say "bring tosh" and the dog on numerous occasions kept me out of trouble. We also had alot of strayes (is that the same as feral?) in my woods and tosh would chase off even much bigger dogs. the reason I bring this up is I keep reading "dont leave kids with dogs" yet tosh was my best friend and protector as a kid. I plan on having a dog just like that for my kids to, am I missing something? the other question is what is your suggested course of action when confronted with an aggresive mean dog? Mine seem to differ from everyone elses. Growing up in that neighborhood there were tough dogs all over the place and I didn't think anything of it. If tosh didn't keep me safe I would befriend the dog. Then I was attacked by a trained german shepard and everything changed for me I didn't even trust tosh for awhile (I was really young maybe 9) but now a days I'm back to where I was before the attack. I have had some run ins with mean dogs and either muscled my way out of it or befriended them. so what do you guys do if your without your own dogs, and find a mean rott or pit staring you down with no one near by? I picked rott and pit because they are the most abused "penal extension" dogs in my area

Pit Bull Damages Planes Cargo Hold
deepseasnake replied to GizmoRedNosePit's topic in Amstaffs & Pit Bulls
yeah from what I read today a jack russel terrier could have scaled the ceiling opened the compartment door took the passenger food droped back into the hold and built a robot out of the wheaties boxes. in my opinion they should band the little breeds! just kidding :D -
I'm a big fan of Alpha wolfness for the tough problems above possitve enforcment (treats) sounds like your problem is already improving so no need for my advise but I'll tell you about the Akitas in my opinion Akitas are the WORST. now granted I've only known 4 or 5 but they all are missbehaving tyrannts, if I owned an akita it would have to be on a huge piece of land, but anyway me and a friend moved in together for awhile to do some construction work on a house and he had 2 akitas that were at eachothers throats 24 7. We tried alot to get them to mellow out to no avail so we decieded to take matters in our own hands and retake our house. we were ruff with them if they fought he or I was right there really fast we'd grabem by the scruff of thier neck lift them into the air, just till their feet were off the ground (something about animals and not having all four feet on the ground) and then we'd put them back down and hold them on the ground while YELLING. It all looked very drastic and I'm sure the dogs were scared, but that was the point. we never hurt them and they never cried. but the fighting did stop while we were around. They never liked eachother but at least they didnt fight this is just a small part of a huge problem with those dogs and that owner the whole family now 3 dogs 1 guy is a bit disfunctional and he wont hear anything anyone says to him about his dogs.

deepseasnake replied to a topic in Veterinary information
wow I'm impressed just as I'm hating all guests, this guy pops up like the pope, thanks you educated me to. I believe your husky will get better, those dogs are fighters. You've got one of the greatest breeds out there. The husky is the most awe inspiring dog that I know of. Have faith, take the procautions and everything will be fine :) -
ya know its funny because my goldens just do it. they are so eager to please or something. I never taught them down, come or off they just did it. well actually I guess I did have a bit of a problem with the younger one. but it never was a big deal he would understand the command but by the time he turned around to do something else he'd forgoten what I had just said, and right back up he came. :D

deepseasnake replied to a topic in Everything about dogs
WHAT! those little yippers can do 12 FEET :o . I'd figure a golfball size hole in a shoe box and a couple pieces of raw spagehetti stuck in the ground, badda bing, containment  12 FEET I am absolutly shocked :o but hey if you guys say, it must be true  -
typical maniac boxer fashion yet another line I will use in my everyday speach thank you hazel I remember a topic not to long ago talking about black boxers and (if I remember correctly) after about 5 pages of EVERYONE telling the poor guest author there was no such thing and she didn't have one someone came up with a link to a black boxer webring and a homepage of a "breeder" it was an interesting read, but I reallt doubt I would buy a dog from that breeder
-
I read up on ori peis a bit and they are recognized by by 2 groups I'm sure you'd all know, but I cant remember them right now, but the site I was reading on talked in great detail about their attempts at AKC rec. so it might be a legit breed in awhile
-
hey six, good to see ya again! FYI I'm gonna get my boxer first most likely because shar peis are so freakin expense (to buy and maintain) just by chance does anyone know anything about ori peis those things look so dang cute!

I actually couldn't agree with you more I think I may have come off to strong, I don't (and never have) believe that mary intentionaly made us "mad" I also dont think in her mind she did anything "wrong" at all. So yeah mary's intentions are that of a normal 13 year old girl. It's her vehicle that concerns me, her way if you will. I dont think mary is a bad person I think she has bad issues which make her act the way that she does. my original point was to say we (at least I) am not equiped with the time, patience or expertise to deal with whatever is going on with the child, that was all I meant. the other thing, that I think of now, with regaurd to this "josh" post is that I put out a pretty harsh statement about the parents of mary. If I was mary's brother (many things would be differant) I would first defend my parents in a post, then the sister, but I've heard nothing to dissmiss fault of the parents. But then again he may have never seen it so yeah this is just one of those topics that is fun to "dig into" thats kinda what I am doing, thats what is so fun about these boards its entertainment (via things like the mary saga) and it's educational all the cool dog stuff you all know It's just a win win situation quick disclaimer, I dont mean to have fun at mary's expense sometimes it ends up that way but its just fun, mary will have plenty of opertunities to grow up and she will most likely find a church or something of the like that will work with her and bring her back down to earth
-
ya know its junk like this that keeps those dang guests poping up all the time asking everyone about their "intentions" when ever anything remotly close to a reproductive system is mentioned. like that one I told off in the "so cali puppy" post...dang that felt good, you know I could never had said that unless I had a paw  anyway yeah thats junk dude, I hate it when people dont fix their dogs its like drinking and driving = it only leads to trouble in the end
-
hey, everybody this is my girlfriend she will be using my computer under her shar pei's (soon to be :D) name, hi Malina :D (by the way she feels bad  that the title turned out the way it did so lets tell her that it is all ok :) )
-
well, I'm not really gonna touch this one... In these days of confidentiality and anonymity you really cant trust anything. So Josh if what you say is true I'm sorry your stuck with the brotherly job of protecting your sister mary. I too have a very difficult 13 year old (going on 24) little sister. I used to be very close to her but now I can barely stand her pressance for much more than an hour, I'm sure its just a phase and that she'll return to humanhood in a short while (fingers crossed) but if this is Mary, perpetuating the complete filth you have already inflicted on us, by posing as a caring brother. To put a post on the same forum as which you belong, and using a line like "not right in the head" and expect me (an older brother of 2) to believe an older sibling could put himself into a position of facing the reprocution of the protected individual (no matter how right in the head she is) READING the opinion, is a bit to much. (do you guys see what I mean or did that get a garbled :-? ) So again if this post was legit (thats a HUGE if) mary, I'm sorry your brother told us you have "head" problems. When you grow up come on back with a new name and act like nothing ever happened and we will never now you were the mary who polluted our heads so long ago.

I hate the snake skin clothing my snake snuggles really doesn't like to eat pre killed meat, the others dont really mind but I never leave the room till the food in question is gone anyway. a few times snuggs did suffer a bite but hydrogen peroxide and neosporin does quite well to help kill off infection. The other thing, is that the pet stores around here dont sell pre killed so I have kill the animals myself which when talking about a rat isn't that bad...but a cute little bunny looking up at you isn't easy anyway I wouldnt really feed my dogs live just wondered what you guys thought about the topic I wonder what newfie has to say, she's a BARFer :-?
-
god knows I cant go to a pet store without leaving with a new friend. my girlfriend calls me an addict :D

yeah I'm still up for it, I'll get 2k in no time you just wait :D
