wow what a cool site thanks alot this is good stuff its a shame that we even have to worry about the punks up the street, it should just be, they got what was comin to em...ya know, they stick their hand in or provoke the dog than yeah I hope they do get their face chewed up. These people need to have respect and if there gonna act like 4 year olds than they need to be taught like 4 year olds instead of a spanking they get a bite sounds fine to me scars heal and kids learn right too bad uncle sam doesn't take the same view but I know exactly what you mean my huskies hated strangers touching them to. I never had a dog that bit but I think we might have gotten close a couple times  I'll tell you the best plan for your husky, move to Wasila alaska buy a few acres on "Big Lake" or a lake near there and never put your dog on a leash again. my huskies were in absolute heaven out there, they had 62 acres all to them self the only thing that changed since god put it all there was the cabin I slept in. It is truely fullfilling seeing a dog runing in his native enviroment it's a nice thing to think about :D

so do you guys think it would not be a good idea to let the dog catch and kill his own food I dunno if you guys still own big snakes but if you try feeding large rabbits instead of chicken you may see that your snake will be more energetic and playfull also clean up will be easier rabbits have really good meat, chicken is okay too (a whole lot cheaper) but I try not to let them eat it very much, yes a wild south american constrictor would eat alot of bird but if there was rabbit down there they would go out for bunny :)

yeah I think its getting about time to hand the tourch to someone with a bigger house I'll keep snuggles (he was first) and I'll keep my little shoestring "jadon" (baby boa) he's not even 12'' yet, but the others are getting to be a handfull

oh yeah...sorry if I wasn't clear in the first post :) as to my intentions

you guys are like flies on sh*t, NO the breeder was brought up to assure that sarah (my girlfriends mom and the one to recieve the dog) has the creditials to care for the breed/specific dog. The grandma (cant think of her name right now) has been breeding for 10 years and the whole family (4 generations) ALL own poms. so the rescue in question has the ability to land in a good home if you dont mind, you nameless police officer of the gods, I would like to give you some advice, ahem....YOU..ARE..PREACHING..TO..THE..CHOIR take your super sleuthness somewhere that you can HELP the problem. it seems to me that anytime someone says the word puppy you nameless flies gotta jump in and wave the "puppy mill" flag. If you want to help the poor little puppies write your freakin congressman or call animal planet. dont come to a site full of DOG LOVERS and tell them they shouldnt breed their neutered DOGS this doesn't pass the common sense test (I guess its not so common anymore) I realize you think you are patroling the world wide web protecting the entire canine species. BUT YOUR NOT there are a hundred ways you could help this atrocity from happening but wasting my time along with all the other intelligent people on this board is not one of them GRRRR

hey I know exactly what that burm was like, I got stuck with one last december when this guy told me he was just gonna "let it go" in washington that snake would have froze 5 minutes into his freedom. So I took him in with no cage and no idea what he was like, we aptly named him satan because he would strike at anything that moved. He soon took over my bedroom and I got to sleep on the couch for awhile. Oh yeah he was 14' 10'' a big boy, but he mellowed out after I fed him a few times. He actually got quite nice to be around but since I had no cage, the clean up was a real chore then he broke the girfriends favorite vase, pooped INTO my computer monitor and snuck into bed at night acouple times so I had to give him to friend of mine :( but he's got a bunch of girlfriends now so satan is happy

my girlfriends mother is interested she already has 2 poms and her mom (girlfriends grandma) breeds in indiana. email me a pic and info

I dont understand, why not? ohh you mean the spad (spaid?) thing, I think they told me she was to young or something, I had to sign papers that said I would get her fixed a year after I got her which I did...it was just a bit to late  smooshie you sound just like me, my next dog to be a boxer  then an american bulldog then a shar pei then a neopolitan mastiff, then another husky (with blue eyes) then a british bulldog....and on and on I think I need my own Island

I think snakes might be the most interesting animal on the planet, I love my snakes, they do everything by instict wich is amazing to watch because once you get to know the breed you can almost predict what it will do next. I have 4 snakes right now but I always take rescues so I might have more tomorrow. My biggest is a "red tail boa" named snuggles (my first reptile) when I got him he was 6' 2'' long, my exact height now he is almost 10 feet long and is absolutly the nicest snake you'll ever meet. I trust that snake around anybody or anything he is so tame its almost freaky. I bought him from a pet store owner, named kevin and the snake "belonged" to kevin's 8 year old daughter, according to kevin she played with that snake every day all day. I remeber once before I bought him the little girl had the snake around her waist like a belt with the snake's head up on her shoulder, both girl and animal were wearing matching pink bonnetes she must have takin it off a doll. It was the funniest thing you ever saw

sweet I'm a real person now....HAHA 8)

I have never had a dog that ever bit anyone I was attacked by a german shepard when I was young though and I will always carry a scar on my right arm from it. It took me awhile till I could trust dogs again. I have had a dog defend me from another dog and that also was a very scary thing. ut I cant see myself with a dog that would ever bite a person

thank you roo, I'll start digging : :)

yes let them get one but make having the license a partial responsibility contract so that the owner will be punished to an almost rediculous extent of the law, then let the gun toting peabrains get themselves locked up along with the dogs they polluted. you know its funny these things (message boards) can really change your opinion on stuff. By hearing all you guys I think now I would favor a militaristic law governing the ownership of "dangerous dogs" if your dog kills while walking in the park the owner should be punished (I'm still up in the air about what should happen to the dog) and dont make it a fine make them do time, REAL time. I guess accidents do happen though right? how many of you out there have ever had your dog attack someone? that you could not control.

well, I'm sure you have already thought of this but the huskies I used to have really liked their animal carcass. quite a few times they would come in smelling like rotting corpses and sure enough I would find one usually not to far from the yard with fresh husky hair through out I would dispose of the animal and with it went the smell, at least until they stumbled across another one maybe take a walk around your property could be a dead bird or something hope I helped :)

I know it sounds bad but I wanted to know from the BARFers out there I have to buy almost $80 every 2 weeks in feeder rabbits for my snakes the largest rabbbits I get regularly are about 10 pounds and maybe as high as 20. before I feed the snakes I have to clear out (fecies) and replace (by feeding) the "gut load" of the feeders. I must get certain supplements into the snake and this is the only way possible. while on a very good BARF site I read you need to blend the veggies to resemble the gut load of prey your dog would hunt in the wild. Makes sense, I'm only 10% serious 90% curious but could it be better to feed my dogs live gut loaded rabbits or other medium to large prey since I have to buy the feeders and gut load them anyway? by the way I could never get my goldens to eat a rabbit, they love to chase ducks when they catch up to them (almost never) they dont know what to do and usually come back with a duck bill print on their nose :)

I picked up a pup from the local PAWS branch about 3 years ago we named her Nikki and that was that. my neighbor had a HUGE golden named Bosco and THAT was THAT. well nikki broke out at the same time Bosco broke out and off they went to make puppies, nikki was not even 2 years old and when we found her we had no idea what had gone on. For the most part she didn't even look pregnant she would just act a little unusual. after awhile her nipples started to fill so we took her to the vet. The vet said that she was NOT pregnant and that everyting we noticed was cuz she was in heat, ( yeah right) well needless to say she gave birth a few weeks after the vet told us for the 2nd time she wasnt pregnant. She had one male pup that was the size of about 6 we named him oscar and he is now the funniest, playfullist, dumb as a doornob dog I have ever seen absolutly gigantic to we got more hilarious puppy stories out of that one dog than most families get in a life time. by the way both dogs are now neutered and spad :)
-
I dont know much about them either but a neighbor of mine had one named scarlet and if I remember right she barked 23 hours a day, at nothing most of the time. she also would come up to my husky "Rocky" (135#) and pick fights. every time rocky was so confused by the noisy little thing he'd suffer a mental breakdown and come into the house with little scarlet hot on his tail. poor rock he just didn't know what to do :-?

alot of people on this board are very educated about food. Like differant brands and statistics about each. I was wondering if you guys could give me some links or places to find out about all these "poison" foods. (the good ones to) Also if anyone knows any really good BARF sites I would like to direct some of my family to them. Thanks
-
hey thats great I was wondering if there was anyone from our neck of the woods on this thing. (washintonian) :D yeah I know what you mean about paying for all that food but you'd be suprised how much large constrictor snakes cost in comparison to dogs even a large dog with health problems are cheaper to have. I think my snakes (3 boas 1 king) eat about 4 times as much $ as my 3 dogs do. by the way I'm a commercial diver who specializes in underwater construction (welding, rigging....on and on) so when the money comes in it flows, when it stops it STOPS but all in all my 12 pets are happy and manage to get special treatment almost every day well I'm of to a quick 3 day trip to our washington rainforest see you all on monday :D

yeah smooshie I'm reading it right now thank you very much. FYI an old neighbor of mine had a boxer and it was the first I'd ever seen, his name was otto and he was the size of a HORSE since, I've always loved the breed but living situations and other misc. problems prohibited me from owning one but I regaurd boxers as the maybe the best dog out there.
-
I have been reading up on boxers and have found some weird things relating to life expectancy some have said up to 15 years but a few say it caps off at 8 due to the size of their skull and ever expanding brain? can anyone clear this up for me? :-?

thanks for the info "guest" you already touched on my next question reguarding breeders and rescues. I will definatly talk to rescuers in the area. While I have never owned a "bully" breed. I can assure you my experience is extensive with other breeds akitas, huskies, golden... nevermind I dont need to prove it to you. I have never had a problem with leaving my dogs in a large "run" with a friend and when I get home going to the park or on a walk. but if you have some information I seem to have missed or has not applied to my dogs thus far, by all means explain yourself further, I'm interested to hear it. just wondering, what has your experience with this specific breed been?
