1. i would never chose to own a afghan either..i just dont like their looks..dont know what thei personality is about.. about labs. i think i will own more labs in my life. i grew up with tons of lab mixes, and 2 labs. lots of lab mixes cause we were really ignorant and never spayed our female lab(maggie that i have now) and none of our males were neutered..so ya know.. anywayz, labs aren't perfect. no dogs are though, eh maggie never chewed up stuff when she was a puppy, but that was probably because we lived on a farm and she had tons of land to live on, and she didnt live inside. she did have quite a bit of energy, but again we lived on a farm so it was easy for her to run her energy off. but she has bitten 2 people in her life. one was a man that shot her(the jack ass deserved it if ya ask me) and the other was a little boy, i have no idea why she did it, but she bit him, she didnt break the skin, kinda like a warning snap or whatever. but now we keep her away from kids so yea labs are far from perfect, and i hate how they are portrayed as the perfect family dog cause they sure arent but when you bunch labs into a spaz/obese/annoying breed, it's just like grouping pit bulls as vicous.. 8)
2. Good Luck! Please share pics when you get your saint! I absolutley looooooooooove saint bernards!! I had the chance to adopt a 1 year old, splash/smooth coat saint months ago, but i couldn't because we already have 7 dogs :( sucked too, because when i get a saint i want a splash/smooth coat.. guess i'll have to wait til i move out and am on my own..
3. well i dont like many small dogs. i would probably never want to own a chihuahua..they are just too delicate nor would i want a toy poodle.. but i like pekingnese(sp??) and a couple other small dogs. i'd probably never own a chinese crested..couldnt stand the no fur..my doggie has to have fur lol..dont like petting skin. i wouldn't want to own a italian greyhound...i dunno..just dont like them dogs lol..cute..but not me.. that's all i can think of right now..
4. my dad just likes to believe that we have too many dogs. he lives in some crazy dream world where he thinks all dogs should live on farms  he is hopefully going to go back on the road and work in like a month or so..we can only hope :) he wont do anything if I can't find homes like immediately. i'll tell him i'm working on it..and hopefully he'll shut up about it. as much as I really hate it, if I get all of the dogs outside(2 are inside right now) i think he will shut up for awhile.. he just really hates them being inside...he's anal like that.

6. so sorry
7. Don't worry about it. More people need to speak out against pet stores. That lady will realize you were right in a couple of weeks or months when she has a terrified and maybe nasty tempered dog, and a dog with lots of health problems. i don't know how the people who work at pet stores sleep at night knowing where these pups come from and that the people who buy them will most likely dump them. oh wait, yea i do, they sleep in their nice big houses with nice cars and nice furniture cause all they care about is money :agrue:
8. http://dogbreedinfo.com/tibetanspaniel.htm never herd of a german bulldog but here is a french bulldog http://dogbreedinfo.com/frenchbulldog.htm
9. Well the person who was gonna take Ozzy..her hubby said no
10. lovely picture! Merry Christmas!!
11. I wanted to give Eli a bath..but i only have a lil bit of a couple different kinds of shampoo.. is it ok to mix shampoos? or is that a no no?
12. he won't let me have kennels.. :agrue: so still, if i can just get sheeba to oregon.. and ozzy will be fostered by a friend in WI.. i'm gonna try and find barkley a home out in the country somewhere or with a family that is very active, cause he needs someone like that.
13. if I can get sheeba to Oregon, i have someone who will foster her. and she would foster shadow too..but shadow would have to be an outside dog..so i dunno.. and then my other friend is going to get back to me about ozzy after she talks to her husband tomorrow.. i'm also looking into getting some chain lin fencing, cause i can get a 50ft roll for like $80...so i'd get 2 rolls..and build like one huge kennel or 2 big ones..and i think my dad would let me keep them all if I got kennels... so we will see. thanx for the advice!
14. hope you get to do what you want to do!! i asked the volunteer at the shelter here and they told me they dont need any help :-? :(
15.
16. i dont have more than 5 minutes in the morning to feed her, and we have a very small fridge, so no space to store anything.. we barely have enough space to store our own food.
17. I give Keesha eggs, pumpkin, bannanas, cottage cheese, yogurt and peanut butter with her food, because she is very picky and will not eat just plain kibble. so I am looking for other things to give her...anyone have any suggestions? i dont give her canned dog food often cause it's kinda expensive and she doesnt really like it..
18. I found pumpkin easily, and it's with the canned fruits and veggies here lol.
19. or if anyone would be willing to foster them for me until i get on my feet. that could be 6 months to a year or more though..
20. So very sorry, keeping dal and boonie in my thoughts
21. my dad is a stupid fricken jerk and is making me get rid of 3 of my dogs. I have decided to keep Eli and Keesha because they have problems that others wouldnt want to deal with, and Ozzy. Barkley and Shadow need homes. Barkley is an 18 month old, springer spaniel mix. House trained, crate trained, neutered, and UTD on shots. Will jump a 4 foot fence, so you must have a 6 ft fence or be willing to take him on walks 2-3 times a day. He's a pretty high energy dog. Doesn't walk very well on leash, but he learns quickly so I am sure it wouldn't be too hard to train him. he loves car rides, and loves to snuggle. and he's about 53lbs, with medium-long hair. Shadow is a 3 year old Great Pyrenees/Lab mix. she's short-medium haired, about 70-80lbs, but needs to lose at least 10 pounds. She's house trained, spayed, and UTD on shots. Pretty laid back dog. She also needs a 6ft fence or 2-3 walks a day, because she will jump a 4ft fence. She is good with dogs once she gets to know them. Great with cats. Very gentle. Sheeba will be up for adoption probably, but I am asking someone else right now because this person has always really loved Sheeba.. I'm in Central Illinois. tville_loser@yahoo.com for any info this is really breaking my heart, but i have no choice. and i can't wait til i get the heck out of this damn house and on my own.
22. Know someone who's thinking of giving a doggy or kitty as a Christmas present this year? Maybe you should pass along the following..... Twas the night before Christmas when all through the house Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas would soon be there The children were nestled all snug in their beds with no thought of the dog filling their heads And mamma in her 'kerchief and I in my cap knew he was cold but didn't care about that When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter Way to the window I flew like a flash figuring the dog was free of his chain and was digging in trash The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow gave the luster of the mid-day to objects below When, what to my wondering eyes should appear but Santa Claus with eyes full of tears He unchained the dog once so lively and glad last year's Christmas present now painfully thin and sad More rapid than eagles he called the dog's name and the dog ran to him despite all his pain "Now Dasher! Now Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen! On, Comet! On Cupid! On, Donner and Blitzen! To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall! Let's find this dog a home where he'll be loved by all" I knew in an instant there would be no gifts this year For Santa Claus had made one thing quite clear The gift of a dog is not just for the season We had gotten the pup for all the wrong reasons In our haste to think of the kids a gift there was one important thing that we missed A dog should be family and cared for the same you don't give a gift then put it on a chain And I heard him exclaim as he rode out of sight "You weren't giving a gift! You were giving a life!" - Author Unknown
23.
Think about this rationally for a sec. Let's say the enimal control people listen to your complaint and take the dog to the shelter. Lets say this dog doesn't get adopted fast enough so they euthanize it. At least the dog is sleeping in doors and it seems that it probably does spend some time with the family when they are around. Is he mostly tethered outside when nobody is home? Do they have a fence? You might think you're doing the dog a favor but in the end it's possible that you're really making things worse than they are.
Sometimes a humane death is the best thing. Rather the dog be humanely euthanized than live a life without love and comfort, and he would probably slowly starve to death or die of thirst, or even freeze to death.
24. ok this is an american pit bull terrier site, but it's the same for all breeds. it explains what a reputable breeder is and what a back yard breeder and puppy mill is. http://www.americanpitbullterrier.org/ReputableBreeder.htm
25. no no no and more no. I dont agree with docking or cropping, or de-clawing. i only agree with removing dew claws if it is absolutely necessary. but i have a 3 yr old great pyrenees/lab who has very dangly back dew claws and she has never had a problem with them. all of my dogs have their dew claws. Humankind is forever changing what should not be changed, because human kind is ignorant, egotistcal and wants everything to conform to their liking, therefore people crop and dock their dogs because they like the look no offense to anyone. JMO also, people say hunting/working breeds need a docked tail. yet golden retrievers, labs, chesapeke bay retrievers, english pointers, and lots of other breeds hunt/retriever and go through brush and what not and dont get hurt....?? but yet people feed the need to dock a german short hair pointer and other breeds because they will get hurt...?? :-?
