1. Like everyone else has said white is not technically a color for labs but yellow ones are sometimes refered to as white. Why I dont know. It seems like a breeder would know better than to refer to a yellow lab as a white lab even if its coat is lighter than the normal yellow.
2. Voted!!! Elijah is in 4th place but far behind the leaders! We gotta beat em!
3. Thats great news! Im glad to hear it!
4. Yep its really sad that people breed these dogs and end up throwing half of them out because theyre deaf or blind or both. DAL you already know about Jack & Jil from the shelter but to those of you who dont, they are both deaf completely and mostly blind. The were thron away after no one wanted them at an auction.
5.
The result is more opportunities for that sudden, unexpected moment when a pit bull loses control. Gamez says he always cautions his officers to keep an eye on pit bulls when capturing them. "They don't growl,'' says Gamez, who was also part of the team investigating the Shawn Jones mauling case in Richmond. "It usually just comes right after you. These dogs can just go off. And when they do, they cause tremendous damage.''
That really makes me mad. Oh yeah all pit bulls just snap and go crazy all of the sudden.
In the meantime, if you encounter a pit bull or a rottweiler, keep an eye on it no matter how often its owner says it is the sweetest little pup you've ever seen. That's especially true if it is a "rehabilitated'' dog, which has supposedly had its breeding curbed by good training. "Rehabilitated,'' says Gamez, "means it hasn't bitten anyone lately.''
Ok I agree that dogs that were rehabed must be watched carefully and needs more precautions than others but my doG! Last time I checked most dogs who bite get PTS, not rehabed.
And some cities and states are considering "breed specific'' legislation, passing a law to keep pit bulls and rottweilers out of populated neighborhoods. The idea has encountered a firestorm of opposition from owners and dog organizations. "The human community has been in denial for 20 years,'' says Clifton. "There's only hope where we begin to recognize the problem. We need to get that layer of denial lifted.''
Denial? Theyre the ones who are in denial! ...thinking all pits and rotties are bad. That is true denial!
6. Pit bulldogs? Hmm... thats something Ive never heard before.
"The dogs would have had to unlatch the cage, push back the door, and take the cat out," Spinso says. "Those cats were targeted. Absolutely," Spinso says. Targeted because someone may have seen them as a health threat. Most of the dead cats had F.I.V, a non-communicable disease similar to H.I.V. There's a hole in the fence surrounding the shelter, but volunteers are not convinced the dogs clawed their way in on their own.
Well I hope those people who did this get arrested and charged. Poor dogs were probably just doing what their owners told them to do and now look what they face, death.
"The pit bulls are victims too," says Spinso. "They didn't ask for this. Someone brought them here."
Well at least they addressed that the pit bulls arent exactly at fault.
7. Aw poor Tucker! Hope things go ok with him and his "basketball" head lol.
8. Voted but it was really hard for me to resist Turk. Bear .................. 0.3% Candy ............... 0.6% Chewie ........... 38.3% Cleo ................ 12.1% Clover ................ 3.7% Cooper Allan ...... 0.6% Elijah ................. 4.7% Guiness ............. 9.1% Honey Bear ....... 0.8% Macey ............... 0.6% Mercedes .......... 0.3% Turk ................. 28.9%
9. Oops double sry
10.      :o Another uneducated person where his victim couldve been saved if he had been taught about dogs, or more specifically pit bulls. I feel bad for the owner. Geez to have to imagine your dog bleeding to death and in pain....
11. Aw, great news! :)
12. Well, I havent seen that but Im hoping that the lady only had them so they could be nursed and then released into the wild or put in a zoo or sanctuary.
13.   Elmos so cute!
14. Yeah I saw that one tonight and previously. Im happy that pittie got a home! ...as mad as I am at those officers for spreading false statements about the pit bull, they have to abide by the law and theyre doing their job... not the best job  but theyre doin it. *hopes there wont be any arguing in this thread*
15. Only the slightest bit but then again its not a good picture. I think it was only labeled that way anyway to get attention. Im not saying it isnt a pit mix but again media wants the story to catch someones eye and the "vicious" pit bull will do that.
16. My great aunt lets her dogs eat ice cream with her off the same spoon. I used to think it was disgusting but now I dont. I guess after getting licked by dogs who occasionally actually get their tongue in my mouth it doesnt seem as bad!   My cat has really long hair that gets everywhere so Im used to waking up with cat hair in my mouth or swallowing some or picking it out. I let my cat drink out of my glasses too, no big deal to me. :)
17. Thats sickening! There should be more punishment for animal cruelty and like Eric said people who can do this to animals will eventually move on to people.
18. Thanks Mei-Mei for answering my question, I was kind of looking for some kind of document from somewhere that says that but I guess thatll do. :) Thanks to everyone for calming down this thread! I was getting a headache just reading the posts. (which did include mine. )
19. Well, my aunt lets her 2 year old outside alone all the time and her dog always follows him and makes sure hes ok. Once they got out of the fence and were out in the street, but the dog protected him from everyone. She barked and barked and anyone who came by him. I dont agree with her letting him go outside alone but the stoires are similar. I am proud of the dog in the story and my lil Slippers who protected my lil cousin. Dogs are very loyal and its no suprise they do what they do.
20. Yeah the gay guys are really funny! I think his outfit when hes showing the dog is VERY funny! ...and the couple with the Weimeraner (sp?) is hilarious. The woman is mental or something
21. Has anybody ever seen this movie? I find it hilarious! Some people dont like it because its kind of weird humor but I think its funny. Im watching it right now, its on Comedy Central. Just too funny!
22.
Is she on drugs? Is she on Prozac? (Kira does not get all excited to meet new people. She will let strangers pet her, but she doesnt get the wiggly butt and tail.)
Thats how the chow/akita puppies I work with are. they dont like to be pet at all unless they know you. They are calm and dont get excited about anything but food.
23. Ok maybe now that Ive calmed down I can write a clear post on my stance on this... I think any dog is capable of biting when provoked and depending on the breed, people react differently. Big-mouthed dogs, massive-sized dogs, dogs with bad reputations, etc. are all considered dangerous and the story is heard all over the news. Defense in a dog is fine ...to an extent. There is a difference in attacking and biting. A dog that bites, meaning backs off after it makes its point, is just defending itself. A dog that attacks and wont back off should be PTS. Signs in a dog that seem to show aggression should be taken seriously, I never said before that it shouldnt. I dont think it should be PTS before its had a chance to prove if its trustworthy or not though as thats what Im assumng you meant, Odnarb. Ending a life is a big deal even if its in an animal. I dont think the decision should be made until its certain the dog is too dangerous for society. Of course the dog should be worked with before any decisions are made also. Euthanasia should be the last option, I stand strong for that because I believe life is precious and any soul can change for the better. I really would like proof from an official document saying that genetics in a pit bull define whether or not it will bite someone. Im not saying its not true I just want to be sure of if its fact or fiction. Right now I dont believe it. As for the situation with the article, this was probably a BYB pit and not a true one. Well-bred pits are rare to find which is sad. Maybe the dog wasnt even a pit but some other dog just being labeled. Whether or not the child was throwing rocks or not is uncertain but why would the pit bull rush under the fence to attack a little boy unless it was in fact being provoked? Prey drive I suppose might have made it want to attack it but I dont know what a pits prey drive is like. *shrugs* An owner should have been watching the dog, and since the fence was broken, the dog shouldve been on some kind of chain or something. The boy shouldve been with an adult. The parents of the child should be fined, so should the owner of the dog (which I assume the owner did get fined) and of course the dog should be PTS. Again, I think that its always the last option but if someones life is in danger it needs to be done. I shouldve explained more on my side but I guess I let myself get so angry I couldnt argue my side well. It happens to me often. ...and like Smooshie said theres a big difference in defending property and aggression. I think thats important to remember. This dog was defending himself against a boy "attacking" him. Its all in opinion in whether or not the dog was displaying aggression I guess. Theres only one right answer though, but to be honest Im not sure anymore, I thought I knew but now Im just confusing myself.
24.

So are you saying that dogs, who have nothing to do with how they were made, should be PTS because of their temperment and not be given a chance at life? They should be killed for being born into the world? Its not their fault and I think they should be given a chance.
UN F-ing BELIEVABLE. :o :o :o :o :o Who is BLAMING the dog? It doesn't matter WHY the dog is dangerous, but if it is, it needs to be REMOVED FROM SOCIETY. Using your theory, then it's not Ted Bundy's or (insert serial killer/child molester/rapist's name here) fault that they are "the way they are", and they should be "given a chance" to live with the rest of us? I don't see pit bulls being legal for more than 10 years, if that, with this kind of thinking. WE ARE DOOMED. :agrue:
HartagoldAST, your post was completely uncalled for! I didnt agree with breeding these dogs I just said I dont think they should have to be PTS if they are in the right hands! Im not even going to argue with you because youre being rude and I wont tolerate it!!!! Odnarb, I dont want the breed to be banned or to become extinct but I dont think that dogs should have to suffer for stupid peoples actions. There are plenty of dogs who are good when given the chance to live and given a home with a family who is loving. We stand at different sides and thats fine but I dont have to agree with you about this. Honestly I dont believe genetics should determine whether a dog should die. I dont want to argue with you or that idiot anymore so bye everyone! I want to express my opinion but whats sad is I cant when there are people on here who act like such assholes, hartagoldAST!!!!
25. So are you saying that dogs, who have nothing to do with how they were made, should be PTS because of their temperment and not be given a chance at life? They should be killed for being born into the world? Its not their fault and I think they should be given a chance. Honestly I have no proof to back up my arguement against you, Odnarb, but I dont agree with anything you have said. Im not saying it meanly at all I just dont agree. Period. You CANT blame the dog for the way it was bred or raised! They deserve a chance, even if you dont think so.
