  1. I echo what DO said. Kidney problems are the main downfall of older kitties so if it was september that the kitty was last seen, that would have been 6 months ago. Thats half a year and a lot can change in that space of time
  2. Those words are fantastic and really tug at the heartstrings.
  3. Cori is going to be an all star agility corgi :D

    Biting puppy

aww he is a lovely puppy. I just love mastiff pups especially when they are so little :D
  5. Izzy that is fantastic news! Talk about being in the right place at the right time :D
  6. If she is vomitting continuously I wouldn't wait 2 days for the vet. It sounds as if she is getting dehydrated with the continual cycle of drinking a lot then vomitting so it really would be an idea to take her to the vet as soon as you can in case of complications with her kidneys.
  7. I think everyone would have to admit that their own dog is a top dog regardless of breeding. I know for sure that I have 2 top dogs here
  8. well said Carol. I know a woman who has bred Golden retrievers for around 30 years and one of her bitches escaped. she knew the bitch was in heat and she injected her with Delvosteron as soon as she got her back to prevent anything. It wasn't successful and the bitch became pregnant with a lovely litter of Golden ret x rough collie courtesy of the dog living down the road :P I still think she is an ace breeder and she found good homes for all the puppies too. It was simply an accident and shouldn't have happened but dwelling on the "what ifs" is just a waste of time. You can't change the past afterall! Another scene that has just sprang to mind was actually at Crufts. The Gundog group were collecting in the collecting ring and two handlers ( 1 with a weim and one with a Hungarian vizsla ) were chittering away. Meanwhile their dogs were getting frisky  . It was an ironic place to happen and hopefully the vizsla bitch wasn't in season as that would be breaking the laws of dog showing, but its another example of where even the top handlers can sometimes have oopsies!
  9. Has the puppy had all his vaccinations if he is going outside? Has he been wormed? Also the most expensive food is not necessarily the correct food. Go for something that doesn't have a lot of rich exotic ingredients. Lamb and rice feed is usually a safe choice and feed your pup 4 small meals a day as he still is a real baby. If he doesn't improve then you really should take him to be checked by your vet. Good luck

    Biting puppy

Puppies learn the rules of biting best when taught by another dog who is older. With wild dogs/wild cats , young animals learn the strength of their bite by their opponent reprimanding them usually by a clout around the nose and a growl, followed by the adult walking away. I strongly believe that this works well also when implemented by a human. When people call me and ask how do they stop biting, I tell them what I have just written. I then tell them to smartly tap the pups nose as soon as they bite and to really give a strong "No" or "urghh" type noise to simulate growling almsot. After they do this I tell them to walk away and if necessary to close the door on the pup. Leave it a few mins go back and repeat again if the pup bites again. The pup gets no positive interaction or praise or nothing nice until it shows no biting. Simple as that.
  11. organic yoghurt is very good and has lactobacilli immunitase which is friendly bacteria and helps to control the excess stomach acid and settle the stomach as well as boosting the immune system. If the dog is throwing up pure bile this only happens when the dog has a completely empty stomach therefore feeding a small meal in between 2 main meals will aid digestion and ensure that the gut is never completely empty. Good luck
  12. I feed CSJ which is a food that has been developed especially for working dogs. Nutro choice is also very good  The type of food though would really depend on the individual dog.
  13. I honestly wouldn't like to say a breed until she is older. She won't be a big dog though if that helps
  14. Well its not anything really to rave someone about but I'm delighted. After being home now a month I looked at Meg today and her coat is coming back all beautifully glossy and she has lost weight so is looking much better like she was before I left her. :D Shes nearly sound again too. Sometimes its the little things that matter more
  15. very tough choice but I would wait. Spend all your time free with your boy for now then worry about a new addition when the time is right
  16. yes Kendalyn and some of those docked dogs are in the thousands of dogs quota that die every day. People butcher them and do botched jobs so add those dogs to the thousands dying.
  17. That just really is too much to take in...
  18. Those are fantastic!
  19. hehe nice scenario
  20. well done Travis!
  21. well all I can say is thank goodness she knew how to find you Izzy. Let us know how she gets on. Shes a beauty girl
  22. The blue stuff is called Euthatal and we used to use it at the surgery then Dolethal came into play and its the pink stuff
  23. I'm against docking in most cases I have to say, except where a valid reason on working or medical grounds is given, but even the old excuse of it being a working/gundog breed isn't enough to satisfy me now. As for docking crossbreeds from birth I condemn it totally.
  24. good luck. It will be certainly very rewarding I'm sure if you keep a strong mind and not let the emotions take over.
