  1. nope definitely don't leave him in the car unattended. The risk of him being stolen or suffering from heat stroke is too great. Even though the temp outside may be in the 50's the temp inside the car will be much hotter.
  2. can i breed a bulldog with shih tzu and call it a little bull sh!t? :evilbat:
  3. poor wee dog if he actually gets on...can we say byb in the making?!...I dare all you in America to call :evilbat:
  4. sounds like a rough time for you and Newfie. Hope this week is better for you
  5. Usually a dog is in oestrus (heat/season) for 2-3 weeks. Bleeding may only last for 10-14 days but your bitch will still be fertile so its important to keep her on a lead at all times. Spaying can then usually be done 2-3 months after she has finished her heat. Its a risk to do it earlier due to the chance of haemorrhaging. As for the cost that varies and the cost will depend on the individual surgery where you take her. Good luck
  6. Thats great to hear that your pup is feeling better
  7. I had a major run-in today with Megs owner... My friend Zara and i took Meg and Zara's puppy Niko to the forest for a walk this morning and i came back with Meg and was confronted by him. He asked me how many times this week I had walked Meg. I replied nearly every day and was a little taken aback when he told me I was lying. :o He has rigged up some stupid wee piece of wire above his gate that has to be opened before I can take Meg and says he sets it every time he goes out. He said its to know when Ive walked meg but thats utter crap...hes trying to catch me out because she needs more than one walk a day for goodness sake. Following on from that he said it was only flipped over the gate once. Utter cock and bull because I have been down nearly every day and my Mum has been off this week from work on holiday and she can vouch for that because I have had Meg at my house and playing with her in the back garden or else I walk her when I come home from work at night. I've been ill the past few weeks with some sort of stomach bacteria that was zapping my vitamin c levels but even still I have tried my very best to get Meg out for a wee walk or I bring her to my house to play. He then started about Crufts and about me withdrawing my entry. I told him I withdrew because I wasn't prepared to take Meg and jeopardise her potential future career and I certainly am not. You all know that from what I've said. He seems to think i withdrew because I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of going! As fricking if! I love Crufts and its hurting me too not going this year but I'm not going to be selfish and go just for my own ego  He said he was taking Meg and by this time I was in tears because he really hurt me hard and I yelled at him that he was jeopardising Meg by taking her. :( I came back to my house in tears and was sobbing my wee heart out telling my Mum  . He really did hurt me by calling me a liar and that disrespect isn't fair. My Mum is raging about it. I know Im an adult and everything else but shes going down to him tomorrow to have it out with him, because she can vouch for Meg being up here. I haven't sobbed so much in a long time but my dog when it comes to Meg and any dispute over what care I give her..to be told that Im a liar, that really hurts me.
  8. As jeff said i would also advise you to be very cautious. Why not do obedience or trialling with your dog instead? Schutzhund is a very fne art form and I am personally very surprised that a trainer of Sch. would even allow a large dog like a Presa to be trained. think about that 200 lbs of weight latching onto you when he is an adult?!
  9. Maybe this is topical but last night Zoe was down at my neighbours house with my dad and waiting for Richard wile he got Rex his dog so that they could go for walks. Zoe was acting weird around richards drain and was whining and scrabbling. She flushed out a mouse from the drain! :o Now Zoe is a mad 13 and a half year old Golden retriever and personally Im amazed that she had the gumption to know that a mouse was even there lol
  10. I wonder what actually goes through an abusers mind when they watch those type of programmes? I kow that I am usually fuming inside when I watch blatant abuse and express it in angry words to anyone nearby or myself if Im alone! :o
  11. good luck! :D
  12. Star, it sounds as if Zebra plucked up the courage to try and handle the situation. Just some puppers are a little freaked by oddities. I know though how you could feel bad for the lady though but hey maybe you will see them again and Zebra will be less sensitive
  13. LC he looks like a little JRT :o I'm not too bad with some pet ones especially the parti colour ones, but I hate the solid colours. Even when we dissected them in uni I couldn't be in the same room. I know people think Im pathetic having a zoology degree and all but I really am petrified of them and burst balloons too :P
  14. Fleas caused bubonic plague but the rat was a wonderful carrier and transport medium. I say they are all guilty as charged :P
  15. what a prat
  16. Brilliant news Izzy! Keep us posted :D
  17. DO said it all!
  18. I would guesstimate lab x pitbull x shar pei perhaps. Its very hard to tell but he is such a stunning puppy. Good luck with him
  19. I would seriously have second thoughts about going to New York now after seeing the size of those buggers. :o They were huge big brown rats with long tails and I had goosebumps and frozen muscles just watching them... I HATE rats! :o :shocked!:
  20. Kongs all the way! Also a rope ball is great for bonding with your pup and playing tuggy with it. It increases your interaction and also you can teach your pup where his place is in your family by controlling the toy.
  21. Thats great to hear that your Sydney is becoming more confident. You are doing really great with her. I saw the recent photos and just felt so delighted to see her progress and how much effort you have put into her to get her looking and behaving so well
  22. Make sure you give Bongo lots and lots of cuddles...best therapy ever  For the eye sleepers, saline is about the best I think. With the tumour putting pressure on the eye orbit its just one of those things where Bongo will need his eye cleaned a few times a day I think. *hugs to you and Bongo*
  23. brilliant news folks! :D
  24. yeah I can see how they are certainly terriers! They really were having a field day on that programme chasing the rats and killing them. I absolutely am big time petrified of rats but I made myself watch it because there were dogs involved lol. It said nothing about vaccinations for the dogs at all and some dogs were getting bitten by the rats so thats definitely a concern. :-?
  25. I'm just watching a tv programme here and its saying that in new York the environmental health people are using pitbulls to kill the huge numbers of rats :o
