I have two dogs Name: Rosie  Breed: English Setter Age: 4 Name: Ruby  Breed: Irish Setter Age: 4 You can see pictures of most of our dogs on Woofit. :D :D

Rosie was from a breeder and when we go on holiday 8) she looks after both of them for us. I know I can trust her and they seem happy there. Although she breeds English Setters her husband loves Irish Setters so he is happy when we leave Ruby with them. We got Ruby from a breeder in Nottingham.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooo Happy for you Rowie, let us know how you go on. :D  :D  :D

I don't ask for much, I work, do all the housework, cook the dogs food etc, see to all the finances etc etc etc :o . All I ask of Brian is that he reminds me when it is the day for Ruby and Rosie to go for their bath and haircut at the groomers. :x Oh yes he says "I've got it in my diary" It's the 10 June at 9.30am. :D As I'm not a morning person :( I asked him last night to give me a call this morning. He called at 9.00am, I'm still in my pit, up I dashed, quick wash, dogs in car and off I go, It's a 30 minute drive and I'm still half asleep. Get there only to find that it's the 17 June at 9.30am. :x :x :x :x :x Rang him on his mobile and gave him what for    because now I've got to get up early next week    Men, what can we do with them, any ideas.

Thanks Ellie :D By the way we're coming to Portsmouth any weekend now. We are going to visit Brian's son who's in the navy. He moved there from HMS Culdrose and we haven't visited them in their new place yet (although we have been to Portsmouth before). Just got to try and find a dog friendly hotel or cottage as we're not leaving the girls behind. :o

How's Layla doing with her training, is she still trying to be bossy? :o :o :o :o :o :o Sorry to hear you've been having problems :( :( :( hope everything turns out okay :D :D :D and it's nothing too serious. Have really missed you on the board. :multi: :B-fly: WELCOME BACK :multi: :B-fly:

Rosie went back the vets on Tuesday, she's lost 1.5 kilo's :o in the three weeks she's been on her medication. You should see her run and she's started play fighting with Ruby again. :o Everyone thought she was an old dog :( and I'm so happy to see her getting thinner and running through the fields that my heart practically bursts with joy. :D :D :D :D :D :D Although we think it may be the long grass that has started her tummy complaint, well that's under control now and she's like a young pup again. An elderly gent with a really boisterous young dog kept saying that Rosie was his kind of dog as she ambled along, this really annoyed :x me, it was as if she was an old lady. :x He's been away on holiday so what a surprise he will have when he sees her. :o :o :o :o :o :o She's running up the stairs like an athlete, she's tumbling round the living room like a new born lamb, she's playing tug again with our socks and has even managed to nick Ruby's ball  ( IMPOSSIBLE IT'S GLUED TO HER MOUTH  ) and play with that. :D Sorry to go on Jen but I'm so happy, I can't stop watching her all the time to see what she gets up to next. :o :o :o By the way, haven't seen you around lately and have missed our late night posts. :( :( :( :( :( :(

I feel so sorry for you and Colby. :( :( :( My Rosie has just come through a serious bout of itching. She has thryoid trouble and I thought she was trying to itch her bottom but couldn't reach it, but it seems she was trying to get at her stomach. When I looked it was very red and there were red pimples here and there, these also went on to the insides of her thighs. She would not leave it alone. I bathed her tummy and inner thighs three times a day, she got so used to it that when she saw the bucket she got down on the floor ready. Oh it must of soothed her and I would of done it 100 times a day if it gave her some relief. First of all I wet her tummy using cotton wool pads or balls, then I used Tee Tree Oil Skin Wash, lathered it up and gave it all a good clean next I thoroughly rinsed it off then dried it using a clean towel, then applied Oatmeal Skin Cream to all the affected area. I'm not sure if it was a reaction to the tablets she's on for her thyroid. Anyway I am still doing it once a day even though it has now cleared up, although her hair hasn't grown back yet on her tummy and thighs, also her bottom. English Setters are renowned for skin trouble so I will be constantly alert in future. Luckily I've been seeing to my mum's ulcerated legs for a long time so had plenty of experience with skin cleansing etc. By the way I also tried E45 Itch Relief and Savlon Antiseptic Cream. GOOD LUCK :D AND I HOPE COLBY GETS SOME RELIEF SOON AS NOTHING IS WORSE THAN ITCHING ALL THE TIME :( :(

  Unfortunately it's all too common, I'm sick of reading about these incidents just lately. I really despair of the human race and I don't think things are going to get better, they seem to be getting worse.  Is it just me that feels like nobody cares for anyone else these days, it's ME, ME, ME all the time. There's no care, compassion, respect, love, kindness, not just for animals but for all the vulnerable people as well.  They abuse animals, beat up, rob and rape old people and then they get called animals, I don't know any animals that would do such things and it's an insult to call them such.  A friend has just had a quadruple bypass, his wife is disabled, they've got zillions of friends. Then how come it was me and my sister who drove her the 60 mile round trip every night to go and see him. We were there till 1.30am one night because he nearly died of a massive heart attack. We had to leave early, so most nights never got anything to eat till we got back, which was usually around 10pm. He had one other visit in nearly 3 weeks. WHO CARES, NOBODY APPARENTLY. I to don't know how the RSPCA inspectors can stand to keep their hands of someone like this. She needs locking up with nothing to eat and drink and see how she likes it. It beggars belief the mentality of these people.

Rosie likes to gently grab her dad's nose but I'll only let her have my earlobes. :o   :o   Oh, and I also blow raspberries on her stomach, you know, like you do with a baby, barking or what!!!

K, I don't know how you have time to breathe never mind anything else. :o :D :o :D

My English Setter Jasmine (now sadly passed away) was the softest most docile dog in the world. She loved everyone. Yet when I was in hospital this plumber came to fit my new bathroom suite, he was about 50ish and she took an instant dislike to him. On the second day my sister and Jasmine were in the house and he dropped the old toilet, it fell through the dining room ceiling along with one of his legs, :o :D :o :D :o :D Jasmine ran in, jumped up and bit his leg. She had never shown aggression to anyone in her life and never did after. I think she was getting revenge for my ceiling as I had just had it done. :D  :D Give her a chance, she may have sensed something and did not like the vet. My Rosie is very particular about people, she'll go up to some and stand and bark at others, although not aggressively just as if to say "keep away from me I don't like you". :x

I know Mouse, isn't it awful when you watch them and feel helpless. :(

Rosie has been trying to get at her bottom (so I thought), :D and with being slightly tubby was having difficulty. :x She was doing it again today and I thought "poor girl" I got some tissue and lay her on her back and itched her bottom for her :o  :o  The things we do for our dogs, anyway it wasn't her bottom when I watched more carefully it was her stomach, I had noticed she had a little rash there and had put some cream on previously. Of I dashed upstairs to look for something that would relieve the irritation, then knelt there and put E45 Itch Cream on her stomach, :o I could feel it cooling straight away and then she lay there contented. I've applied a little more tonight and she has been fine, I think it might be ezcema. She has thyroid trouble and ezcema and so do I, I think we are a right pair together. :o Like I said. THE THINGS WE DO FOR OUR DOGS.

Mine too, but sadly no English Setters :(

I'm always picking the sleep out of my dogs eyes. Then I do it to my sister's dog and my mum's dog. My sister says it's disgusting. :D :D But I've really gone over the top now. On my rounds I really get to know my customers' dogs and love nearly all of them (not the ones that bit me) Anyway the other day I went to this house I'd never been to before. As the lady opened the door a big Alsatian came lumbering up, I started stroking him and before I realised it I was picking the sleep from his eyes.   I didn't even know the dog, it's a good job he liked it and decided not to bite me, but I have got to stop this compulsive behaviour. :D :D :D

Oh Ickle I wish I hadn't read that, I've got to go out to work and my eyes are all red with crying

Mouse, I can just imagine them sat in front of the washing machine with long faces willing the spin cycle to hurry up. :o :D :o :D -

That's really funny, I've never heard of a dog sucking a blanket before. It must give her a lot of comfort. :D She might not like a new one as much, so don't throw the old one out just yet. Look at that face, BEAUTIFUL       -
Love the heaven and hell one. And I must show the others to my other half (he won't like it) but so true. :o :o :o :o :o :o
