1. *sigh* Trust me I have had that conversation before. I have told her about choke collars and the hazards of keeping them on all the time. She just dosn't care. I take better care of her dogs when i'm at her house then she does. She is just one of thoes people who should NEVER own dogs. :-?
2. My best friend called today and my mom picked up the phone but I realy didn't want to talk to her because I was realy tired. But my mom hands me the phone and tells me that it's an "emergency". So I take the phone call and my friend is all panicky on the other end and she goes "How do I take off a choke collar?!" I told her that she has to pull it off the dogs head. She askes me "there arn't any clasps or snaps to take it off!?" calmly I say "No you need to pull it off, just push his ears threw it. Why do you need to know is it caught on something?" And she tells me "No, we need to give him (micheal) a bath, he got sprayed by a skunk".  I hear her over the phone yelling at her husband "Pull it off his head!!!!!" then she says "thanks your the best!" and hangs up. Mind you that my friend is 20 years old and has had dogs all her life. I have had a dog for two years and she calls me when she dosn't know what to do. I told her in the begining when her family got Micheal from the rescue that she needed to take the choke chain off but apparently she didn't listen to me. But realy how do you know not know how to take off a choke chain? I swear she isn't the bright colour in the crayon box. :drinking:
3. Can't we just put these people in cages way to small for them, let them live in there own feces and let them starve? Then laugh at them when they get diseases and die. Because realy that is the best they deserve. :x
4. Great job Naomi! God what morons to be doing something like that. :x I hope Justin givesthat guy hell on monday.
5.
awe man, I wish I had a purebred dog now so I could get you to do it for me!! :D But my boy's a mutt
I thought the EXACT same thing shara. V. good critique sizzle, very interesting.
6. Great news that they arn't doing there "buisness" in the house anymore. I'm sure you realy enjoyed cleaning it all up.
7.
I can't stand to go by the petstores anymore. I got kicked out and Banned from one in the mall for voicing my opionon..
Heh..you too huh? I so got reemed out by the owner of a pet store in the mall. I guess they didn't like me standing at the wall of puppys telling all the people there what horrible conditions they dogs come from. Then saying very loudly..."Well I suppos you could buy these dogs but they all look like they have fleas, and ticks. I bet you some of them even have rabies! . And man do thoes trips to the vet cost allot!"..oh well guess I'll never be invited to that pet store again! Hey Shara making Flyers is actually a great idea! If you need any help just PM me.
8. First off that song made me choke on the water I was drinking. Thankfully Zebra dosn't fart. But boy-o-boy does he burp allot. He comes up to you like he is going to give you a kiss then "BURRRRRP" right in your face. :-? My best freind had a Golden and oh my lord could that dog stink up a room like you wouldn't belive. She would sit right outside my frends room and the door would be closed and you would hear it then seconds later you would smell it...and the only way to describe the smell was like rotting eggs. You literally would gag and want to throw up. Thinking back on it I feel sorry for that dog because it obviously had medical problems that no one took care of. :(
9. Well I didn't get Zebra from breeder, I adopted him from the petsmart adoptions. We still see the Animal Control officer/shelter worker about twice every month when we go to Petsmart on the weekends.
10.
Happy Birthday Zebra!!!! :bday: :bday: Hope you got very spoilt with toys and treats :D
Of Course he did! He got a new plush toy in the shape of a Palm tree and a special dog cake/cookie thing that we bought at 3 Dog bakery. And we sang him happy birthday.........Oh my god I'm such a dork.
11. Today is Zebra's 2nd birthday! :bday: WooHoo! I can't believe that we have had him for almost 2 years now. Time goes by so fast! 12. One dog- Zebra a total mutt. A 2 year old Golden retreiver/GSD X or as we call him a "German Retreiver" although he dosn't actually retreive Germans...yet. . Adopted from the local petsmart at 2 1/2 months. One rabbit. Nibbles. Who only weighs 5 lbs but has managed to ruin, 5 shirts, 3 game systems and two couches and numerous books.
13.
Most dogs in most places are outside dogs. ITs great you take your dogs inside and let them run free. Ive always let mine but now i cant. Dogs are not MEANT to live their lives indoors. It is a cramped boring environment for even the smallest dog. Understand that there is no detectable difference between a pomeranian and a wolf. Dogs are hunters first and foremost. They are predators. And they are explorers. They need to run, explore, experience new things. A dog raised and living his life outdoors is arguably much happier and healthier than a dog who lives his lives in a human home. Even better of course is a a dog who is allowed to run free both indoors and outdoors. Again. MOST dogs the world over live their lives outside. It is what they were meant to do. Its what they love. Chaining dogs: Putting a dog on a chain, leaving it there, never visiting, giving it love, or letting it have a change of scenery makes them crazy. Just like it would you or i. But chaining a dog, visiting and giving it love, giving it as much chain as you possibly can and preferably a run, and moving its area occasionally (i do mine daily) is not cruel. Its not the best circumstance but its definitely not the worst. Consider that a house dog, left alone all day, seeing its owners at night, NEVER getting to explore or get a change of scenery beyond the same standard walk it gets ... that dog gets to see a lot less, entertain itself a lot less, he doesnt smell the smells, hear and respond to other dogs etc.... In a perfect world all dogs would be free to run as they please, inside and out. But its not a perfect world. And everyone isnt rich enough to build 10 foot fences around their homes.. and dont want to. Not to mention apartment dwellers etc. We and dogs have to do our best to accomodate each other and keep each other happy. If you really love animals dont attack others who love them and do their best for them.. and dont necessarily approve of how you raise your dog. But rather turn yoru energy to saving strays, spaying (which i used to oppose), donating to the local animal groups and shelters etc. Which i have a feeling 99% of the people here already do anyway.
I don't particularly see anything wrong with tying your dog up ouside for a bit, maybe an hour or two a day while you do housework or run errands but I don't think it's fair for the dog to live ouside on a chain all the time. All dogs need exersize, socalization and fresh air but I don't think leaving your dog out on a chain for hours on end , day after day is accomplishing anything. I know my dog, and most dogs are much happier INSIDE with there owners then outside alone. You said that:
Understand that there is no detectable difference between a pomeranian and a wolf.
Well if this is true then it's also true that all dogs are pack animals and need to be with there pack. How is it fair to keep a dog outside even if you take care of it. Taking care of a dog is allot more then walking it and feeding it. My dog would die of lonelyness if he had to be ouside at night while everyone was in the house. Also I don't agree with that statment at all. Dogs have certain qualitys of wolves but dogs are not wolves, and wolves are not dogs. There IS a huge distinct difference in the two. This reminds me of a man who owns a wolf-dog rescue he said (and i'm paraphrasing) "Wolf-dogs are neither wolves or dogs. They exist in a horrible limbo between the two." What I don't get is that you basically say that dogs need to experience things and be out, but indoor dogs don't get to do that because they are at home all day untill there masters get home. Well what is the difference if a dog is ouside in the backyard all day? He dosn't get to experience anything differnt either.
Consider the ouside dog, staring in at his "masters" having fun inside the house and having dinner together and that dog ouside by itself having nothing to do, no one to interact with. A truly happy dog does not live in the house 100% of the time, or live outside 100% of the time. (by the way I realy hope this post makes some sort of sense, I'm dead tired  )
14. Puppy face!!!! Ohh how cute!!
15. Well I told my mom all this info when she came home and she told me that after I hung up with them that her coworker said that the mother also had mange when the pups where born, but the "breeders" didn't tell them that. Apparently they got the pups from another co-worker that is a total BYB. And they paid.........$1800 for one puppy!!!!!!!! :o And now one co-worker is complaining that she dosn't have the money for the dips because they cost $75 each time they go. What?! You had enough money to waste 1800 on a BYB puppy but don't have 75 bucks to take your dog to the vet?! AGGH!!!! :drinking: :wallbash:
16. A very odd thing happend today. My mom called me from work and asked me to give advice to her coworker about dogs. I hear my mom tell her coworker that I'm the "dog expert" so I should know about stuff like that. :o I'm thinking to myself "Stuff like what?!". The coworker comes on the phone and askes me what mange is and how to get rid of it, because she has a bulldog pup that is 5 months old with mange. And of course I know next to nothing about mange. So I tell the woman that Mange is a type of mite (it is a mite, right? ) and that she would have to take her dog to the vet to see what to do about it. She tells me that her vet has to give the dog 6 "dips" and the dog has already had two dips. She says, "well the dog has had this for over a month so it should be gone right?".....aggh! I don't know! I told her that she should still see the vet but if the mange dosn't get better she should seek the opinion of a different vet. I guess the sibling of this bulldog also has mange but the two dogs have never meet other then when they were togehther after they were born. Poor pups I feel so bad, they are loosing all there hair and have big welts that sometimes bleed. Anways my mom comes back on the phone and says "well you ask all your freinds on Dogo and see what they say, you guys all know more about dogs then us." Aggh it made me laugh but I guess I'm now known as the "dog expert" to my moms coworker. So here are my questions: Is it possible for them to have gotten mange from there mother but have it only appear a few months later? Also don't allot of bulldogs have skin problems? And are dips typical of getting rid of mange?
17. Yup. Yup. Zebra does this too. I play rough with my freinds and my brother, we are always hitting eachother. But when Zebra sees it he goes off and starts to bark his head off and always pushes in between me and who ever. But he also get mad if I hug anyone...he jumps up and takes the other persons arm in his mouth and tugs it away from me, but he takes them gently never hurting anyone. Such a funny dog.
18. Aww court that is such a great story, it made me cry. It's so wonderful that you keep them next to each other.
19. I think she meant that she was visiting a pitbull forum too, along with this one. And I soo can relate because I am a member of a pitbull forum and my dog dosn't even come close to being a pit.
20. WooHoo! Congrats! :P And you know you could post pics for one day then just take them down...*hint hint*
21. It's Oolong tha pancake rabbit!!!!!!! Man do I love that little japanese rabbit.
22. I said it before and I'll say it again. Ban RnP. BUT I'm not voiting on what I want, I'm voiting on what I think is best for the board. Just in the last month we have had numerous threads locked, members getting mad at other members, Mods gettting harassing Pm's, and a whole lotta unwanted trolls. All because of RnP. This entire thing has thrown Dogo into such turmoil that I honestly think it is best for the board to just Ban. A ban might be the begining of having dogo go back to what it use to be, a wonderful site for dog owners to ask questions and have fun.
23. Totally agree with you Hillside. This is my vote for a ban.
24. Today I was thinking about what I would do with Zebra and our rabbit Nibbles when they pass on. I do not want to just leave them at the vet because i'd be so affraid that Iams would use them as food. My parents suggested a pet cemetery or cremation. Cremation is an interesting idea because you can scatter the ashes but I was always creeped out with the idea of having ashes of a beloved one in the house. I like the idea of burrial though. Anwyas I was just interested to know if anyone has done this or has considered it? Here is an example. http://www.bubbling-well.com/
25. I totally agree with you Kiwi. I think the least he could do is come up with a decent explenation. I think we deserve it. All this reminds me of "Pouty Pit Bull" and how we gave her a change but once she broke it she was out of here. I don't realy understand why we are giving RnP so many chances when he isn't even trying to explain what is going on. And didn't many "guests" try to warn us about PPB too? I don't see the difference if someone from another board is warning us about RnP. Either way I realy hope that where ever RnP's dogs are they are in good hands and are being treated well.
