Remind me to NEVER, EVER, EVER lay down on the couch again! Zebra decided that he HAD to lay on the couch too and since I wasn't moving he might as well jump on me! ON MY STOMICH! 80 pounds of dog right on my stomich. God I'm still in soo much pain it's not even funny. Then he just put his all his weight on my lower abdomen and I screamed. Kinda freaked him out but damn it hurts! Uh..next dog I get is going to be a 2 lbs chihuahua!! :-? -
I never liked dogs. *Gasp* I know how horrible! I never grew up around dogs, was never allowed to have one. My parents were told when I was very young to not get any pets because I was very allergic to cats, so naturally everyone assumed that I would be allergic to dogs too. I was always very fearful of dogs because I was never around them. I was especally afraid of small dogs, big dogs never did scare me that much, go figure. Then when I was around 11, or 12 my grandfather found a stray puppy. A small GSD mix, must have been 3 months old at the most. I had that dog, Rex, for three days. That was the first dog I realy fell in love with. He was so gentle for a puppy, never bit me, only barked once. But my baby brother was terrified of him and my parents told me that there was no way we were going to keep him. I was devistated, I cried and cried. We ended up giving him to my aunts father. Who apparently named him "Ceaser" and docked his tail! :x So I went back to being afraid of dogs, up untill I meet my best freinds Golden, Remy. I was 14 years old and was still not sure about dogs. But Remy was an old show dog that didn't get any love from my freinds family. I took care of that dog more then they did, played with her, gave her water, tended to her open wounds, got the "sleep" from her eyes, pet her even though she smelled REALY bad. I bonded with that dog. She passed away over a year ago, poor girl. Then almost two years ago I saw that little GDS/golden mix at Petsmart and HAD to get him. And ever since I got Zebra I've been obsessed with GSDs and GSD mixes. That is my breed. I just love the way they act, there intelligent, yet stubborn at the same time. But I think I will always own mixes, because you realy never know what your going to get.
you'd be hard pressed to find a dog that is as visually striking as a DalmatiAn.

Oh something like that happend the other day too. Zeb was in the kitchen and the kitchen has a hallway on the side that leads to the bathroom, my brothers room and my parents room. All of a sudden zebra turned around and started barking like a mad dog. He was staring into my brothers room and he lunged forward and had his hackles all up and lips curled. We just figured something had fallen over in my bros room. Untill zebra walked forward, looked up (still barking) and followed something with his eyes into my parents room. He kept barking and snarling. My dad finally had to pull him back with his collar and we all looked into the rooms and there was nothing. Nothing had fallen over or anyting. It was just realy werid. :-?

When zebs collar gets smelly I just toss it in the washing machine on the Gentle cycle in one of thoes mesh laundry bags. It dosn't fray and come out smelling fine.
That's great that your friend takes care of them. Most people don't. But there's still no reason for people to keep them, even if they can "responsibly" care for them. They're wild animals. Something like a lion or a tiger is not meant to spend its life in a CAGE. I don't care if it's a 1/4 acre habitat or a 20' x 20' cage, it's still a cage, and it's still a tiny fraction of the amount of land they should be able to wander. They'll never be able to live up to their full potential to be a skillful, graceful hunter.
GREAT POST Mutts!! :) Just because you can buy and exotic dosn't mean you should, and it dosn't make it right. I CAN go out and shoot someone with a gun, but it dosn't make it right. I CAN hit someone with a car, dosn't mean I should, dosn't make it right. Seijun this sentence realy bothered me:
Amber, Tigers and lions don't need as much room in captivity as they do in the wild because they don't NEED to hunt. I have seen my friend's lion and tiger, and the one word that fits both is L-A-Z-Y. They have no need to hunt, therefor they have no need of an extremely large habitat.
That is totally wrong. Just because a big cat dosn't hunt dosn't mean they need less room. And the reason the animals are lazy is probably a lack of room. You put any animal in an area that is too small for them they are going to be board, restless and become lazy. A wild animal dosn't need a lot of room only for hunting, they need exersize, they need to explore and discover things like they would in the WILD. You wouldn't keep a dog in a crate 24/7, why would you do that to a wild animal?

:o If only all dogs lived that long.
gladis had a little teddy-bear which she loved, it got very dirty so I washed it. She has not played with it since
Aww I can't help but laugh a little. That's exactly how zebra is. If I dare clean anything of his he won't touch it and looks at me like I'm some kind of monster.

Mutt that first pic is the cutest thing I have ever seen!!!!!!!! Ohh soo darn cute! :D

How often does everyone clean there Kong? Does your dog still want to play with it after? Because everytime I clean Zebs Kong he refuses to go near it, no matter what I put in it. So I don't realy clean it that often and it gets all nasty inside. I don't clean it with soap, just hot water and a baby bottle brush. I know he dosn't want to play with it because the "good smell" is gone but he is seriously afraid of it and will run from it when it's clean. :-? Anyone elses dog do this?

Most people can't even take care of a dog our cat! How in the heck is your average person going to take care of Big cats, monkeys etc?! The ad that confused me the most was the "Polar bear" one...why in the world would anyone want a POLAR BEAR! There not exactly known to be the nicest creatures! That site is just SCARY! :-?

When you were little did you ever....
StarFox replied to __crazy_canine__'s topic in Everything about dogs
I remember pretending to be a cat. I would get down on the floor, meow then lick the backside of my hand and "clean" myself.  -
Maybe cody sleeps in front of the door so he knows if someone is comming. Zeb dosn't realy sleep in werid places, but he does sleep anywhere that there is room for him. On the couch. Under the table on his pillow, in his crate, by the back door, in the middle of the floor.

Aww that's so great!! I'm not sure why he would get all excited just because you played the drums on his belly but it sounds like he realy liked it!

Ok so I read somewhere ( I can't remember where) that you can put one of thoes beef bouillon cubes in water and then freeze the beef water, and that they make great dog treats. Like beef flavored ice cubes. Has anyone tried that? I have the Bouillon cubes just wondering if anyone has tried it.

Goo may have helped save a life tonight...
StarFox replied to gooeydog's topic in Everything about dogs
Aww Good job Goo!!! Hope the little bird gets better soon as possible. -
Yup I would call the Animal control, Humane society, or SPCA. Depending on the laws in your area an animal is suppose to have shelter from the elements and food and water available if they need it. It dosn't sound like these people are doing either. :-?
