  1. I'm so glad she is improving. Muzzles like any other device can be a useful tool and if using one on Sassy helps then you shouldn't be frowned upon for doing so. You are being responsible and doing what is best for everyone.
  2. oops.. the above post was from me :D
  3. Thanks for the info HF. It's always good to read as much information from a variety of sources as one can. When we first got Indy being a first time dog owner I would have just bought supermarket dog food because I didn't know any different. However after talking to some people I realised that it wasn't our best option and went for a middle of the range kibble. After doing further research I then discovered that we could do even better and changed him to a premium kibble. However along with feeding him kibble he has always been given bones and raw meat here and there. However more as a snack or treat rather than a main meal. Now after doing even more research I feel that the BARF diet makes sense to me and we will be making the full time switch once the bag of kibble we now have is finished. At present he is getting raw meaty bones in the morning and his kibble mixed with veges at night. I personally don't believe in using anything or any one source of info as a "bible". I believe information should be obtained from a variety of sources and then the person should make their own conclusions and go from there. Although I personally like the idea of the BARF diet I also believe that there isn't one magic diet that is the be all and end all for all dogs. What works wonders for one dog may not do the same for another. Each person needs to evaluate their dog or dogs and do what works best for them. And no one else has the right to tell them what they are doing is "wrong" just because it's not the same as what that person is doing.
  4. Aroura - we can actually get Eagle Pack in Australia. It's what my breeder feeds and I've got the website of the company she orders it from somewhere. You would still have to get it shipped as I don't believe you can buy it in any shops but it would be coming from Australia so you wouldn't have to worry about importing it. I know you feed raw but if you ever need it for any reason let me know and I'll dig up the details for you.
  5. That sounds like a great idea to me. Thanks for sharing the story :D

    About "breeders"

I would classify anyone that breeds an animal as a "breeder". However as we all know there are responsible and irresponsible breeders out there so what class each breeder falls into is defined by their actions. (we all listed on the other topic what we considered responsible and irresponsible breeders so I am not going to go into that again.) I agree 100% with HF on the comparison of auctioning dogs and cats to livestock such as horses and cows etc. I'm sure statistically the amount of people who buy a cow on impulse and then dump it because it doesn't suit them any more are minuscule compared to the phenomenal rate it happens with dogs and cats.
  7. That is fantastic news. I am so glad everything went well. Please keep up updated on his progress over the next few days, weeks etc..... and of course give him a big cuddle from me.

  17. Good luck on Sunday and let us know how it goes.
  18. So glad you got it sorted out without having to involve the AKC. I guess some people don't actually intend to do the wrong thing - the just get slack and need a kick up the bum.
  19. I am so glad she is doing a bit better
  20. Gloat away.... Meg sounds like she deserves it :D
  21. It depends on who the co-owner is. My breeder is a co-owner of our dog.
  22. I bet he has the keenest sense of smell and the smell of that yummy chip stirred him from his sleep
  23. If any can't do any of the things you listed then what is she supposed to do? Just sit on a pillow all day :-? I don't think you are doing anything wrong or asking for trouble - you have to let her live her life as a dog.
