1. He is a happy go lucky boy. Never complains, always willing to do anything you put before him. His patience is starting to wear thin. He's starting to want to bite when we adjust the halo. He is so tired and weary -- you can see it in his face.
2. :evilbat: :evilbat: FIRST --- BREATHE HOBBIT, BREATHE. Okay, my spouse took Guy to the vet today for his checkup. I am livid! Good news >> we have moved the leg 1/2 inch in length. It was an inch shorter than the other leg, due to the growth plate closing prematurally. BAD NEWS --- he's grown a 1/2 inch! Please insert PRIMAL SCREAM here. Which translates into -- we have done nothing. All the pain for nothing. This is something we discussed SEVERAL times before the surgery. And he assured us that he'd leave plenty of room for him to grow. HE MUST HAVE FORGOTTEN THAT BIT OF VITAL INFORMATION. :x Oh...here's the part where I'm glad I wasn't there because I would have asked the vet to STEP OUTSIDE (wouldn't want Guy to see me kick the vet's butt or vice versa ....). He said, "Hum...it looks like the bone has grown back together, so we may have to operate again and rebreak it". :o :evilbat: HIS calculations were off. Well, we are NOT paying for that nor are we going to put Guy thru another one of HIS mis-calculations. FREAKING mis-calculation!?! Yeah, the bone grew more than he anticipated. WHAT?!? I am so mad I can't see straight. So, he wants us to double the adjustments (the pulling and spreading) & he gave us more pain meds -- because it's going to be painful. The pain med's are making him vomit now --- heellllo! No.....we're going back in on Monday for another x-ray; a conference with HIS boss; and if the bone has grown back together because of HIS mis-calculation they are taking the halo off and we are going to see an attorney. All this right after I choke the living crap out of him.....not really, but the thought of it makes me feel lots better.
3. Thanks for the info on Wellness. I finally found the ingredients (it was so much in plain view, it missed it). It looks wonderful, but there is no way I can afford their price. We have several dogs and not that they aren't worth it, they are --- it's just way too expensive. I primarily came here, knowing that if someone used it that they would speak up --- good or bad. Trust me, I will do the research.
4. GEEZ--- never mind, found it.
5. I went to the site and they said what they do have and don't have, but I couldn't find an ingredient list. Am I not looking in the right place?
6. I'm looking at Naturally Premium (Strongpoint, not Showcoat).
7.
Not sure imy opinion matters, but I would never let that stuff near my dog. Meat meal, ground rice, added fat, corn, just to name a few of the ingredients that are not good for dogs.
What do you feed your dog(s)?
8.
Newfie is such a food expert for all of us! The only thing I am concerned about is that all the meat is MEAL...poultry MEAL, beef MEAL...
Would you rather have by-products?
9. I know you guys are sick of dog food questions, but this one is easy --- promise. We are looking into this brand of dog food; mainly because of the ingredients and because we would get a discount for being a distributor. I know.....shameless! http://www.showcoat.com/ CLICK ON STRONGPOINT and then read the ingredients. Newfie --- especially interested to hear your comment.
10.  GREAT idea! Ohhhh, he's a monster.
11. No, but tried Pizza. Isn't that about the same?
12. geez, I knew that ..... sort of ...... thanks for reminding me it was for ME and not the little princess (he's neutered, so he's a princess --heehee). Even though he THINKS he's all man! Makes me crazy. It's just like have an intact male. THANK GOODNESS, he has no sperm. He does everything a normal intact male does. I even looked to make sure he was neutered. :D ....... that was way off topic. um...forgot what the original question was  . Oh, Guy? He and spouse are on the way to the Dr's for his x-ray and check up. He vomits about 8 hours after taking the Meloxicam. AND, he swallowed a magnet --- oh yeah... a magnet. He's going to make all my hair fall out. I got something off the frig and heard the magnet hit the floor. I was looking for it and heard Guy crunching on something....I realized it was the magnet. I said, "Spit.... he swallowed ... before I could get "that out" - out. Auugghh! He normally is really good at spitting stuff out when I ask him, so I can look at it and either give it back or exchange it for something that he can eat.
13. ....well, ooookay. I was looking forward to feeding them something really stinky first.
14. Hum......a person needing some strange? ....... poo, that is. Well, gigi -- I DO have your address and COULD mail you a big, not HUGH, box of strange....... poo. :evilbat: evil laugh......  ...and I'm sure everyone would want to contribute. :P
15. He is going thru the "I want to tear everything up" stage. :( He used to be so good with his toys. I've been taking them away when he starts tearing them up and playing with him (distraction). He may be "acting-out" because he hasn't been the center of my universe lately ---- Guy has. So, I've been trying to spend more time with Hobby (like normal) so he'll see he's still loved.
16. REALLY late...because I'm posting AFTER Jacsmom! Sorry to hear about Bobbi. Please keep us posted on her condition (mental and physical). That is sad, but she is in a much more loving and caring home now.
17. ......don't forget name calling, finger pointing and then some beers.
18. he's got that HOBBIT look! Way cute.
19. That was interesting K. Well, I can tell you that is a relief --- and will be the last time I make one of my dogs puke up a tampon. Don't ask --- things happen sometimes that is beyond my control.
20. Way too small for a Border Collie, .... sounds more like a Sheltie. OR a crossbred.
21. The Border Collie weighs 18 pounds at 18 months old! :o She's been a puppy machine since her first heat cycle. :evilbat:
22.
So Ive been meaning to ask you guys (being Hobbit and all you other ACD type owners) have herding type dogs been successfull in other lines of work? or are they just so good at what they do they dont need anything else to do?
I think Foster knows a few ACD's that are very good at flyball or other sport dog activities. I've heard rumor that several Police Officers, from Millhollen, Pennsylvania (I think, that's the town) opt'ed to used Kelpies as drug interdiction dogs because it took less time to train them (than it did the GSD and Malinois). Does anyone know if this is true? A man from Pennsylvania told me that. Some Kelpies have become SAR dogs. Personally, I've never used them in any other type of work other ranch/herding work.
23. OMG --- so now I'm a convict with a sex change! See what you miss USMCByrd when you go off for a few days!?!
24. Marble, she's growing up and quite lovely. My pictures vaporized from the site. I'll have to redo them in a folder so you can see them. She sure looks like a red(chocolate)/white Border Collie crossed with an ACD.
25.

....id be happy to be a so called reject
not as happy as I am that I get to call you one!
That was un-needed! and you have the nerve to diss the people at barkingbuddies, how dare you. while you sit here and spend your time picking on other people, I thought this was a dog forum? i guess there really is no dog forum with people who truly care about their dogs- all they can do is pick on other people. just cause that person decided to go to bb does not mean he is a reject- just because he chose that site over this site- jealous maybe? get a heart- have some compassion- be kind- and treat others as you would like to be treated!!!!
YOU need to read the post. Nearstorm is calling herself a REJECT. No one at Dogomania is calling her a reject (SHE chose that name for herself!). You know if you've posted here before or are still posting, the Moderators can check your IP number.
