1. Congrats! That's amazing! :D Can't wait to see the pictures!
2.
the AKC is too much about looks and not enough about preserving the integrity of the breeds it recognizes.
Although I don't have any clubs where I live (except the National Dog Club and the GSD Club which aren't official anyway) and don't know that much about clubs, I agree about the whole AKC thing. A show line and working line could look as different as two different breeds, its ridiculous! A dog could look amazing but have terrible traits, too.
3. I love the idea of unique names! If I ever get a male GR, I will never call him "Buddy" or "Bailey", I'd prefer something more unique, but thats just IMO. And I LOVE Macadamia! :D
4. Rowie has nipples, but they are not pronounced. I think they do become pronounced if they have been pregnant and/or have had puppies. Hope it helps  .
5. Wow, JackyMaya, Hogan sounds like a keeper! And he does not look 8 at all, I was very surprised! Keeping my fingers crossed for a response and can't WAIT for pictures of the picnic!!
6. Its not your fualt, Izzy :( . YOU didn't leave the gate open... Bring the other dogs with you when looking for her, she'll probably come running to meet her "brothers" and "sisters". Also, some treats to attract her. My cousin's dog was lost for more than TEN hours once, but the next day there he was waiting at the gate. Thank Goodness she has her tags and collar on, so no one can mistake her for a stray. Good idea with the reward, that way no one will be tempted to steal her or keep her. I really hope you find her soon, its horrible losing your four legged pal. :( Good luck!!
7. Arggh! :x Forgot to post the website : http://creators.co.nz/nzwoman/animaldogcare.html
8. This woman obviously has good intentions. And its great that she's trying to help St. Bernards that are being shipped off to South Korea..but look at her opinion on Pit Bulls :
Pitbulls: The Pitbull is a dog which should never be bred. It should be illegal to breed or keep these dogs in New Zealand (and any other country!). They can be affectionate to their owners but they are unstable and often quite insane. Their attachment to their owners and surroundings can be so intense that they will kill to protect it. I recently took my own dog for a walk on the beach and a pitbull was loose. Its owner quickly put a lead on it but it lunged and salivated and tried to get my dog. This pitbull should NEVER have been loose on the beach without a leash. Imagine if it hadn't been quickly restrained by its owner. I would probably have been mauled or killed in my attempt to protect my dog. So, what can be done about the pitbull problem? Well, extinction is clearly the kindest thing to do. A phasing out time so that existing pitbulls may live out their lifespan should be implemented (under strict conditions), along with making pitbull breeding illegal.
:-? Sorry if this has been posted before, but I certainly do NOT agree with her!
9. Very cute!
10. OMG :( The best thing to do would be to call a nieghbour they trust...
11. Oh, and welcome to the forum! :D
12. I'm sorry, but I don't think you should breed your dog. Although you won't be taking care of the pups, your still responsible. As K said, you'll have to pay for all the health testing that takes place before breeding your male (does the breeder even want proof that your dog is healthy, or just ready to mate at any time? :-? ). Also, have you ever shown your dog? Is he up to the AKC standards (if your living in the US, that is)? Does he have any allergies? Any diseases (especially those common in Goldens) that run in the family, perhaps? Hip Dysplasia? Checked for that? The list goes on and on, it almost never ends! What if the puppies are never sold? Are you willing to help the other breeder and probably take one of the pups home? Does that "breeder" have a puppy contract? Will he/she require that all puppies be nuetered/spayed after being purchased, with proof? What food does she feed them? Is it high quality and fit for the breed (in your opinion...btw IAMS or EUKANUBA is not a good answer)? Did you visit her "kennel"? Has she ever bred before? Is the kennel clean, do the puppies look healthy? Is she involved in any activities? Field trial? Agility? Fly ball? Obedience? GR RESCUE? I know the above advice sounds like what to do when LOOKING for a puppy, but if you DO decide to breed (which I don't think, personally, is a good idea) then you should know where your future "grandchildren" will be staying and their living condition. Also, will you be able to pick a puppy of your choice to keep? Or co-own? There is a LOT of work put into this, even if your dog won't actually HAVE the puppies. Do you own a kennel? Usually people who breed their males own a kennel or have a breeding program, judging by what you posted, you don't. Also, your Golden doesn't seem to have any show titles, so how will you prove that your dog's puppies are true to the breed? Its a complicated process. Some breeders may have pedigrees as long as their arms with great-great-great grandmothers that have excellent show titles. It STILL doesn't mean that the breeder is a GOOD breeder. It still doesn't mean that the puppies can't inherit genetic diseases NOT mentioned in the pedigree. Please don't breed your beautiful dog (I love your avatar! :D). BYBs have done enough to ruin the amazing GR breed. Now more and more GRs are agressive, have HD and have horrible coats and allergies. And please fix your dog. :( Enough puppies are born in shelters EVERY DAY, not counting the ones that have to be PTS because those puppies were born (for more space). Tell that so called breeder to get lost, and adopt a puppy from the shelter, instead of bringing a whole new litter into the world. Just my two cents
13. Crested, I just wanted to say that your such a loving pet owner, and that your love for your dogs shows through your posts. Your willing to visit the vets for Ben even though money is tight! Your an  ! Good luck!
14.

DL, I'm not new!
I knew that Rowie...sorry. :P
Quite allright sweetie  3, I guess you have to be involved with what happened to understand how much it hurt the rest of Dogo, just reading the posts made me ill. Lying is no small matter...
15. I've had Rowie for two years and two months exactly today, and have recently been seriously thinking about getting another addition to the family...although temporary. What I mean is I'm thinking of fostering a dog from the BSPCA here. The BSPCA is in great need of helping hands and I try and volunteer as much as I can, but it isn't enough. We have a very large garden, a double-brick wall and an electronic gate. Also we live in the countryside so walks are fun and the dogs wouldn't be disturbed by cars. I have plenty of time to take care of both dogs, and can certainly afford two dogs (dog food isn't very expensive here, niether are the collars, leads, food bowls...etc). And as for getting attached to the dog, of course I will, but I would rather chose heartbreak over missing a dog after he/she has been adopted out, than allowing it to be PTS or stay in the already crowded sanctuary. The dog I am thinking of should be an adult, (puppies are adopted out after a couple of days, while its normal for adults to be at the sanctuary for years!) medium sized, and preferably a male. I don't care what colour it is, or if it looks "ugly", I'm saving a dog here, not judging a dog show. I know there is a lot of work put into fostering a dog, especially while you own your own dog, but I've been researching and I'm certain I can do it. I've always wanted to foster/own a rescue dog and now is my chance. It might be months before I get the dog though, but it will give me time to prepare! So, for those of you fostering dogs or whom have fostered dogs...what are the pros and cons? Experiences? And any tips? Thanks! :D
16. I think you should say something! I am seriously against Debarking, whats the point? Also, as sctty_lvr mentioned, the dog is already annoying her. Print out info on dogs and training, and/or how hard training and owning a Beagle could be. Give her some of your personal experiences owning a Beagle. Have a long talk with her, and tell her straight that you do not think she should have that Beagle. Although you *may* lose her as a friend, at least you will save an innocent puppy' bark-and much more. :( Keep us updated!
17. :o Whoa, how could I have missed this? I read through the entire two threads (both 12+13) pages. The whole auctioning off the dogs...etc. is sick. :x I don't exactly know the whole story, there must have been more threads before this? So I don't understand about him confessing to lie...when? And about what? Snow White or something? Sorry, I know I'm asking a lot, I'm just SHOCKED. DL, I'm not new!
18. Congrats!
19. Go Bongo and Mom!!!! :D It was very brave for the both of you to go through with the surgery!
20. On January 22, 2004, 48-year-old beach logger and dog breeder Greg Clark was motoring to the village of Craig, in southeastern Alaska, in his 32-foot boat, Katrina, on his way to deliver a two-month-old Labrador puppy. As always, Brick, Clark's good-tempered eight-year-old black Lab, rode along. At 12:23 p.m., Clark sent out an SOS distress call, saying he'd struck rocks near Heceta Island. But by the time help arrived, the boat had disappeared. For three days, searchers combed the area for signs of Clark and his dogs, turning up only an unused survival suit and pieces of boat wreckage. A month later, on February 19, local fisherman Kevin Dau was out with his father off Heceta Island when the older Dau thought he spotted a wolf on shore. Kevin, a friend of Clark's, took one look and knew it was Brick. He called for the dog, and Brick swam so fast to the boat that "there was a wake coming off of him," Kevin told a newspaper at the time. Brick's fur was matted with tree sap, he was thin, and he'd injured his leg, but otherwise he was in good condition. Locals were stunned that the dog had survived, and speculated how. Had he eaten ground squirrels? Found an unfrozen stream? Slept under bushes for warmth in the sub-zero temperatures? No one knows but Brick, who is now safely ensconced in a new home. "I feel like it's a message from Greg, saying who knows what," John Pugh, a friend of Clark's, told a reporter at the time. "I haven't quite figured it out, but it is a miracle, that's for sure." 21. Hey RnP! :D Beautiful pic, as usual... (Drey is soooo handsome! :o )
22. Wow, that's incredible. It really is karma! Way to go puppy! Also, although I see where some of you are coming from, shooting a puppy still seems inhumane to me. Instead of a quiet, calm room it feels fear and watches its littermates die. The last thing it hears is a gunshot. I'm still inbetween...I'd rather a dog at the rainbow bridge then a dog wandering homeless in the streets. BUT shooting a dog will just become another "sulotion". By making shooting a puppy seem humane, people will just look at it as an alternitave to get ride of their puppies. "Aww, its allright. If we can't afford 'em when they're bigger, we'll just shoot 'em!" AND, if a person DID find a dog wandering the streets and decided to keep it, that person should STILL be held responsibl, poor or not. If that person couldn't afford a dog, then it shouldn't have kept it. I'm sure an Animal Rescue would love to help find it a home. Or, that person could have raised money to get it spayed, or put up posters, or anything. There are a lot of ways to get out of it...
23. Wow, Majiesmom! The dogs look so different and neat and clean! Especially the GSD! Great job! :D We're expecting more pics, ya know!
24. HF....I'm so sorry! :( I don't know what to say...we'll be sending prayers your way! (Sorry this post is so short, Dogo is down or something and keeps freezing :-? )
25. So sorry to hear that Buddy is HW positive. :( I hope the treatment goes well!
