1. Luckily, Rowie and I are left alone. But one time a guy actually came up to me and asked me if I'd like to trade Rowie with his dog (while placing his hands on his cheeks and pulling downwards immitating a "bully breed") so that he could take Rowie back home to Pakistan ( :o ) to fight her with other dogs. I'd also get 10% of whatever money she makes. Errmm...no. Another thing that pissed me off was when my friend and her mom were dropping me off home. As usual, Rowie was waiting at the gate. My friend's mom looks at her and goes "Hmmm, Lab Mix I suspect." I replied :"Actually she's a purebred Golden Retriever". Thank God this woman wasn't an ignorant idiot and apologized for her mistake. Ooooh, the breeding questions! :x People are ALWAYS telling me that I'll regret fixing Rowie! As if I'd do anything to my dog to hurt her or that will make me regret it in the future! I've actually had a person tell me "They like it when they're allowed to have babies! " And when we met Rowie's ex-owner (whom, by the way we lost total contact with. He never calls to check up on Rowie... :-? ) and told him that Rowie had an appointment at the vet's for a spaying operation soon he told me :"Are you sure about this? She has papers and everything..." Yes, I'm sure you idiot! YOU were the one who gave her up, don't tell ME how to take care of MY dog! Urgghhh... And what about when people tell you how to take CARE of your dog? "Pull that leash, dearie. A bit harder, don't let her take control of you!" Told to me by an old man while Rowie was walking in perfect heel right next to me. When I told a man I was feeding Rowie kibble, he told me I was deprieving my dog of her "natural foods" which is meat. Ummm...ok? Do YOU spends hours on the internet researching dog foods and only wanting the BEST for your dog? Thought so. My cousin! Urggghh, I can't stand her sometimes. Her dog is a "rare" Pom mix who is an outside dog. Long haired, dirty, never brushed dog who's also NOT neutured and has agressive problems. Unyet she tells ME how to take care of MY dog? "OUR vet said that giving dogs dry feed is dangerous for it." "My mother said keeping in its natural habitat [outside  ] is the best for it." "I read somewhere the getting my dog fixed is cruel and painful for it. Besides, I'd be mean if I took away his 'man parts.'" *Say all this in high pitched, know-it-all, naggy vioce.* Okay, I lied. Me and Rowie aren't left alone. So I needed to vent a bit? So what?
2.
well since I last talked with everyone we have moved, down by a lake and toby loves the water! he seems to be getting much better, we are trying to keep him in a routine which helps a lot. and i think this is a BIG step...before when you told him time to go night night (crate time) he would act all "poor me" and you would have to physically put him in the crate. now we tell him night night and get the treat, he generally goes to the crate, gets in, turns around and waits for the treat. i have also noticed a few nights when he would fuss awhile after going into the crate, so we let him out, he goes to the door cause he needs to go potty. I'M SO EXCITED!!! I finally feel like we are making REAL progress here.
I'm so happy for you! :D Congratulations! And sorry about not giving you advice before, first time I see this thread :o .
3. Get well soon, Paddy!
4. http://www.h-dogpark.com/world_dog.htm I found this on Google, and it pretty much looks like a Puppy Mill. It's in Chinese so I'm not sure, but it looks like they're breeding and the all the dogs look sick. What do you guys think? :-?
5. Rest In Peace, Spotty. That picture is so beautiful. Your right, Nea! Poor Barney!!
6. Couldn't resist! What a cutie-pie! :iloveyou: He would never survive at my house, though. :-? Our house is so big, and is full of little crooks and crannys (or whatever you call 'em) and our garden is full of bushes and the grass is pretty long is some places. Plus the fact that Rowie would probably kill him by mistake. :o He is all furry like a chew toy! One thing about the article that annoyed me:
Marks is used to small dogs. Tiny Tim's mother, a Chihuahua, named Sparkles, and his father, a Shih Tzu, named Patch, are no giants either, but Tiny Tim is by far the smallest she has raised.
Unwanted breeding? Or to teach the kids about the birds and the bees? Or maybe the search for a new breed again? :x Don't you guys find this a bit fishy?
7. Awwwww! :D
8.
Okay, I never finished reading all of the posts here I'm sorry. I got to like page 4, and I promise I'll keep reading the rest later, but I have TONS of homework to get done and a dog to train the "tree method" SOO, from what I've read this is quite the situtation :o But i don't think anyone's giving SRC enough slack here... While I don't condone this at ALL what has happend to this dog, it is NOT SRC's fault! It's not even her dog, and like she said she barely ever sees her aunt, never mind the DOG!! I know if I was her aunt and for WHATEVER reason let this abuse go on (I wouldn't, but I'm saying if I was her aunt) and a relitave of mine whom I never talk to suddenly started hasseling me about how I treat my dog whom I claim to love I'd be upset. Nevermind SRC's situtation! There ARE ways to solve it I agree with everyone here, but I also have been in very familure shoes. I live in a town where almost everyone thinks the same way about animals! My parents love animals but without my knowledge on how dogs need to be indoors with their "pack" we'd still have only outdoor dogs! I cant' drive because I am not licences and Our vet is an hour drive away and he's a COW DOCTOR!!! :o So a really GOOD vet is TWO hour drive away (sorry for useing time as distance, that's what happens when you live in a small town  ) our SPCA is also two hours away, although we have a "pound" here which picks up strays in town. So I do know how frustrating it can be when you know a dog can use help but it seems almost impossble to get it! Anyone remember my Hazel? Because of her aggression (which people argue but she wasn't stuck on a chain until AFTER she became aggressive) she was stuck on a chain in the mud when I couldn't be with her outside. It took a LOT of work to convince my parents to bring her in, and i had to bath her and vacuum all the time and bla bla bla all that stuff but I did it. Where there's a will there's a way right? I tried to trian her best I could without any behaviorests around AT ALL, and did everything I could before i had to decide to have her PTS. Everyone prolly thought I was making up a lot of excuses then as well but I wasn't! I was telling the TRUTH of WHY so many things couldn't be done. I eventually DID get a LOT acomplished through shere determination. The point of my story is that SRC probably CAN do something about this dog but it will take a LOT of work and there seems to be a LOT of blocks in her way! I agree with what everyone has said on here but I think a lot have been fairly harsh and cruel about it too... Sorry if things have been resolved since page 4   I couldn't stand my two cents not being thrown in before i go do homework.
Very well said, Shara ! :) I just erased a very long, long post because I'd like to keep it short so members can read it and not get bored. SRC is trying to help. Period. Although she is defending her Aunt (whom she must respect/love) I think it is in our right place to respect her love/respect for her Aunt. We can say that we don't agree with what she does, and I agree with all of you that she shouldn't be allowed to have another animal again. She may come up with excuses, but do you think she would have posted on purpose just to come up with excuses? Well to me, not really. Maybe these excuses are true? She can't help living where she is, can she? She couldn't have helped getting into a car accident, could she? I won't get into that. All I wanted to say is that saying SRC should not sleep in a warm bed at night is a bit uncalled for. She wants to HELP, not start anything. Also, saying she needs to slap herself is also a bit uncalled for. I am NOT pointing fingers, I am NOT saying anything about anyone. I just couldn't help posting, it broke my heart (and y'all know I'm sensative  ) when people said she shouldn't sleep in a warm bed. I hope the poor dog is up in the rainbow bridge now, or a solution is found!
9. What the .... ? :o First off, Look: Evil? That's not even a correct breed standard! The puppy looks like a clumsy GSD with floppy ears (okay, okay, it's cute!). Don't they know the dangers of this kind of breeding? Did they study genetics? What about both breeds inherited diseases? Satan's Mastiff? What the...? And would any real breeder sell to those kind of people? Why do I sniff BYB dogs, here? :-?
10. Ooooo, lucky duckling! I want a pretty ticket! That's it, next year, I'm going to Crufts!
11. Awww, poor Bentley! I'll be sending thoughts and prayers your way!
12. I saw that film when I was...uhhh...forgot when! But I was really little, its an old film, I think? I'd love to see it again! :) I was no help, wasn't I?
13. Court  http://www.greenies.com http://www.greenies.com/html/about/about.html The websites won't work for me, though... :-?
14. Rowie never gets chocolate, ever. I just can't take the risk! I give Rowie the doggie chocolate drops, and even with that I give her very little each week. I tend to favour the yoghurt variety more, though! :) I remeber about a year ago, Sonita (the person who helps around the house) gave Rowie chocolate milk. :o She came up to me saying "Maurie, Rowie loved the chocolate milk I gave her, we should give her some more." I could have sworn my heart stopped for a full minute...!
15. Hmmm, it won't let me do the test because I'm not 18. I could lie, of course, but then Rowie's "DogAge" wouldn't be right...
16.

I'm pretty sure all dogs with backs as sloped like that have HD :( .
Actually that isn't true. There are plenty of American Showline dogs that have OFA Excellent or Good hips. Just like there are plenty of those dogs that have "straight backs" that have AWEFULL hips. I too personally HATE the way the American dogs look. But the reason that they look and stand that way is NOT due to hip problems.
Ooooh, woops! Better do my research before acting like a know-it-all, shouldn't I? I know they don't stand that way due to hip problems, though. But anyway, point is, American GSDs with extreme back slopes don't look nice at all... :(
17. I hate GSDs with sloped backs, their puppies can't even walk! I heard that the sloped backs are because of the GSD's "gait", that it was supposed to look like it was trotting, so they started to breed of a sloped back to make it look that way. Then breeders just took it too far and the breed was ruined. This poor dog, doesn't look normal at all! I'm pretty sure all dogs with backs as sloped like that have HD :( .
18. Isn't it cool how everyone has their own "breed"? Or love for a breed? :D I guess it depends on an indiviuals lifestyle or something!
19. Way to go, Sassy and mommy! :D
20. :o That's soooooooooooooooo funny!
21. We love you too, Zoe!!
22. Hooorah Scamp and Marion!! :D Marion, your so sweet! You and Josie (and her husband ) made a family very, very happy! I'm sure its the greatest feeling in the world! Way to go!!!! :D
23. Ooooo, I've always wanted to share my story! :D (Great story + topic, Shara!!!) When I was 4 I lived in the USA, and I remember I was watching TV when a agility match came on. The first dog that came on was a Siberian Husky, and I fell in love. Ever since that day I have loved dogs. Then when I was older my aunt got me a dog book by Dr. Bruce Fogle (great guy!) and I remember countless days sitting on my bed reading all about dogs, and soon I memorized the book and about 100 dog breeds! When I started really getting hooked was when I was probably 10, after that I was really hooked there was no looking back! What about breeds? How did you get hooked on your breed? I never really knew why I liked Goldens so much, ever since I liked dogs I liked Goldens. Maybe it was their smile, their beauty, their intelligence, their hearts of gold. I just recently found out WHY I really like the Golden! I was looking through some old family albums and came across a picture of me and my mom in a park in the USA and right next to us was a big ol' Golden with a huge smile on his face! I asked my mom about it and she said we were in the park and that we saw a Golden and his owner there and I wanted to pet it and we became friends and took pictures together! So I guess that's how I came to love Goldens (after finiding out what breed the Golden was). Nice topic!
24. $1,700.00, and all I'll get are ripped pieces of red material all over the house!
