1. Giving dogs pills has always been easy- our dogs have all been such gutses! Rinny got a bit fussy before the end because he had to take so many pills, and required a bit of extra coaxing to eat (I think he thought every bit of food was going to have a pill hidden in it  ) but BK has only had his heartworm tablets which he doesn't even notice.
2. Big congrats RNP :D :D :D ... I can feel puppy envy coming on again...
3. Awwwww. Don't you just wish they could stay that size and that cute???
4. Poor Devin... sending positive thoughts... hope he comes back safe and sound.
5. The main thing is that Devin has found what seems to be a fantastic home.
6. bk does the same thing when he is hyper... when he was younger he'd try to get you to play or follow him by grabbing your hand with his mouth and dragging you to where he wanted to you be. We all say "NO BITING" very firmly and he stops. but you know how he is. he just likes to push and push those boundaries. I suppose for Dresden it could be a combination of both her breed (ACDS like to mouth things and people and for some it's a way for them to show affection towards you), and her situation prior to being adopted by you. Just be firm and consistent with your command and try not to lose your patience (hard, i know!)... that's all the advice I can think of... :)
7. CONGRATS MARBLE!!!
8. Excellent post, Elsastarr. :) There was an article in the weekend paper magazine (Age/SMH Sunday Life) about the new "designer" dogs eg. labradoodles. It said they were crossbred 30 years ago in aust. for guide dog purposes. I never actually knew that. But of course we had to have a few quotes from Australia's favourite alleged puppy farmer/gardener, Don Burke, doing some nice self-promotion for designer dogs. there was also a contrasting view from some guy who is as sick as I am about people buying "in" breeds so they can carp on at dinner parties about their "maltipoo" or "yorkiepoo" or whatever. He put out a fake ad for some exotic South African crossbreed and were inundated with requests to buy. No checking out breeder, size, temperament etc. They just offered to BUY. Just proves how dumb some people are and why some people should never be allowed to take on the responsiblity of owning a dog. :evilbat:
9. That's why we are here, to listen to you Behle!! Keeping everything crossed for poor Max.
10. Good luck, and I hope this time it all works out. 8)
11. Blitz makes me smile when he pretends to be tough. For example he will "escort" people down to the clothesline- he leads and you follow. He tries to make it look like he's not going down there for you, as if he was going down there to have a look around anyway- but he'll keep looking back over his shoulder to make sure you're coming, and when you've finished hanging out the washing he'll "escort" you back. The big bad backyard is no place for vulnerable humans eh.
12. They're great photos. What a handsome boy he is!! 8)
13. Ah-ha. The maximum recommended weight for a Staff is 17kg. :o I guess is depends on proportion, but Tank was not exactly IN proportion. :) There was also a yellow Lab (of course  ), two Shih-Tzus (one puppy, very cute), and a young Golden... not fully grown, but not tiny, with a beautiful blonde coat.
14. Hoping that the news turns out to be good, not bad... Fingers are crossed and sending positive thoughts!!!
15. Lily (who was on heat) went to the vet today, all is good and she is booked in to have her op soon. This does have some DOG relevance lol. There was the most gorgeous Staffy there called Tank. which was appropriate because I don't think I've ever seen a fatter dog in my entire life. :o He had just had a double knee reconstruction... apparently he was born with bad kneecaps (back legs). I was tempted to say, "Well, I'm sure him being that overweight isn't helping him," but I resisted because it's not really my place to lecture strangers, that's why they are at the vet's! He got on the scales in the waiting room while I was there and he weighed 25kg. I don't know what the average weight is for a Staffy but he'd have to be over it. BK is 3 times the size of Tank and weighs 22kg. But Tank was ABSOLUTELY the most gorgeous, friendly, happy dog in there. All smiles and I don't think his tail stopped wagging the whole time! I tell you K you are very lucky to see that grin every day! :D I want a Staffy... 8)
16. I like Mercy... but I also like Storm... Mercy seems more suited to her though. Good luck!!
17. Big Congrats to you RNP!!!! Your daughter is beautiful!!!

Yippee!! Another Cattle Dog convert!!! May I also remind you that the terrible twos don't ever stop... they just turn into terrible threes, fours, fives... :drinking:
20. I took the horror dog to the shops today to buy him some lamb shanks as a treat. Whenever he goes out he wears his red bandanna and always gets lots of compliments on his dapper attire. As per usual I tied him up outside the supermarket and went in and got his meat. Also as per usual there was a sausage sizzle outside the supermarket selling snags etc for $2. I came back out from the shop and the guy running the bbq said to me (or to BK rather), "You'd better not tell your mummy you've been spoiled!" I said to the guy, "oh did you give him a sausage?" He replied, "no someone bought one for him!" :o  then he said, "how old is he?" I told him his age (almost 8), and he said, "ohh he looks like a puppy, he's really young-looking." Hmmm he acts like a puppy too- on steroids. I can't believe someone *bought* him a sausage. I think it's hysterically funny that someone spent money to feed my dog, who in addition to that sausage and his regular meal, is sitting in the backyard with a big fat lamb shank.  I'm wondering if it happens to anyone else's dog.
21. Awww what a cutie. He is so adorable!!! BK is funny when he swims, he just plunges right in and it take a few seconds for him to click that he's in water; kind of like he is thinking, "how the hell did I get in here?"
22. I feel better knowing I don't have the only destructive dog out there. (he seems almost normal now. ) Things bk has destroyed/chewed over the years: side gate garage (he "rearranged" the contents including clothes, books, tools, furniture, it was all in the backyard one night!) my antique watch I foolishly left on the coffee table when I had a 5 minute shower (it still work, but I still have the toothmarks in the back to prove it!) garden hose several wooden fences the side boards on the outside of the house several rats (outside rats) a couple of birds almost a possum Rinny's ear (he took a chunk out of it one night when Rinny tried to muscle in on his dinner) Rinny's tennis balls (you'd throw the ball for Rinny, who loved tennis balls, and bk would go after it and get it and run off and peel all the felt off them, poor Rinny always looked so sad!) Soccer balls, cricket balls, basketballs Socks, undies, scarves, doona covers, blankets etc. The axe handle the outdoor furniture he chewed on when we took the axe off him that's all I can think of for now. :drinking:
23. Thanks Carol, will try on the crazy one next time there is a storm. :D
24.   the poor thing. and STILL she is good-natured after the hell that has been her life...
