I just had a look at border collie rescue (thanks Dog Paddle) and had to post this link of horror stories: http://www.bcrescue.org/bchorror.html I've just finished reading it, almost wetting myself... I can definitely relate to these. I bet some of you guys can too! :drinking:

And my Aussie fingers are crossed (though we do it backwards here  ).

She's beautiful. I did notice your new avatar and was going to say so in another thread, but you've made a thread about it so I didn't have to. :D

Congrats on your new baby!!! I'm glad things are going well and with the love and care you're giving him he'll be better in no time. :bday:

I'll give you some advice my dad gave me: "don't get drunk and don't misbehave." HAVE FUN!

Hope the little tacker is feeling better. I would definitely contact the breeder (if you got him from one). A good breeder would definitely want to know what was going on with their pups... 7 weeks is very young. :-?

Great photos!!!!!!!! Those puppies are just so... well... black... and cute... and snuggable...

Agreed. There are way too many fat dogs around! Most people wouldn't recognise a healthy-weight dog if it came up and bit them on the nose. Dogs aren't designed to carry lots of extra kilos, ESPECIALLY working dogs eg BCs, ACDs, Kelpies. They are designed to WORK and like any athlete, if they carry too much weight they don't work as well. -
I saved it in my favourites... will look when I have more time. :D

I'll send you a parcel Hillside. -
poor rufus!!! hope he gets better soon!! :)

Marble- He got a massive marrow bone which he was been chewing nonstop for the past 36 hours. Finally something that's not demolished in 60 seconds. :O :D And he still acts almost as psycho as he did when he was a puppy... so he hasn't really matured heaps, more like shifted down a gear. :)

Of course I agree with you guys. Having always grown up with dogs I couldn't imagine having children who couldn't have the same pleasure. I feel sorry for people who are scared of dogs purely because they've never had a dog to love- they're the ones missing out! sure they slobber and are messy, boisterous, hairy, can smell yuck sometimes, cost a lot to take to the vet (however you don't need to pay school fees for a dog)... but what you get out of dog ownership is worth ten times what you spend on your dog.

Yippee!!! glad the little boy is back with no (major) harm done. 8)

things you've randomly taught your dogs :)

We have a stone pillar in the backyard that the previous owners had sat a big iron birdbath thing on. Until fairly recently the pillar was vacant. Now because BK used to be such a nuisance at dinner time, we trained him to go up onto the pillar so he would be out of the way while we fed Rinny. So we would say, "on your box!" and he would leap up onto the pillar looking very much like the Dog On The Tuckerbox. He'd wait there until we gave the "eat" command then he would hoe into his food. Now Dad has bought an urn for the pillar, so he can't really jump up on there any longer. He also knows words like "walk", "dinner', "bath", "going"... so we have to find creative ways to not use these words.  Back at our old house when I was still at high school and staying at my dad's, he would wake me up most mornings by bringing me in a cup of coffee. When we got Blitz he would also get Blitz to come in and wake me up by saying "Go and get Jane." BK would come in, jump on the bed, lick my face a few times in a vain effort to wake me up, then give up. Dad would come in ten minutes later to find both of us asleep! -
This is a kind of chocolate coloured kelpie. IT's more red than anything, but could be mistaken for chocolate. As you can see they don't look much like Labs but you get the general idea. This is a chocolate kelpie with the tan markings. Maybe I just like posting cute pictures. :D And this is the site I got them from, in case they don't work... Hmmm maybe a Kelpie?? They don't really look much like Labs (they are very lean in build), but are smaller, come in a chocolate colour and can have light coloured eyes.

I'm so sorry to hear such heartbreaking news Mary's Mama. Will be thinking of you all on Monday.
