1. Furthermore..... :agrue: Did you read about his male dog, Atlas? It's BLIND....is he breeding it???? He doesn't even know its bloodlines. Sheesh!!!!
2.    OH my gosh. Wish I had never looked, Deep, now I am furious!!!!! :evilbat: Here's something from his about me page: My name is Norman Higgs, I'm 37 years old, and I currently reside in Porterville, California I did a search for his phone no. but got no results. His dog sadie is SKINNY in the pics....note what he says about her....."age about 8 years....I had to sell her last year, just didn't have room for her"HE SOLD AN 8 YEAR OLD DOG! He needs to get a life!!!!! I am too angry for words!!!!
3. Put a leash on her. Then stand on it. When the dog tries to jump, she can't, because you are holding her down. Much easier than trying to convince her you aren't playing!!! My dog did this too. We have been working on it since July and he's gotten *much* better (not perfect yet). One thing I did, since I say different words (down, off, no) is ....I changed it to "four on the floor!" . He gets a treat for 4 paws on the floor. So now it's a positive instead of a negative. :D See you guys? In between my silliness I ~have~ been listening!
4. :o That is too strange. I forwarded it to the local shelter.
5.
Hey are those Petsmart training classes free??
  NOTHING IN LIFE IS FREE, MY DEAR! i think they are around $80....not sure. However they handed me a $10 off coupon while i was there, and I think they also offer it for less if you adopted your dog from a shelter.
6. Yes BK the new emoticons are sooooo cool!!!!! :fadein: I was walking near my house with my dogs one day and a gang of boys on bikes approached from the rear....no warning.....just whizzed by....the last one KICKED FELLA as he went past!!!!!! Fella wouldn't hurt a fly, and he's a little shy of people anyway. That boy is lucky I couldn't catch him!
7.
My Saints don't do mental agility I can assure you! :o
That's funny K! :D Mine could use the mental agility!
8. Oh phooey. PHOOEY PHOOEY PHOOEY. I thought Nutro was really good. :-?
9. He is really cool but he is on a chain
10. Well we are talking about me doing the basic and my daughter doing the tricks. I could handle that!
11. What do you think? This sweetie: who is a major bundle of energy, knows about 8 commands. He has been to petsmart a couple of times (in Toby's place, in a basic training class, and also for individual work. He responds well to commands MOST of the time. Other times something catches his interest and he WILL NOT listen. At Petsmart, he listens EXTREMELY well. So they think he is good. The trainer feels he does not need a basic class. He qualifies for a "tricks" class, as they just have to know sit and down. She suggested that class. All I know is, we have a long way to go. I even considered enrolling him in BOTH at the same time! He could handle it! What do you think?
12. a little late here but may I add....I cut up most of the treats I buy as they are pretty large and my babies get full quickly. They only get a teeny bit of a treat when we are training. :)
13. OH!OH! <Corgilady frantically raising hand> I know about the Atlanta shelters.....at least one! It would be in Marietta, or the closest to there. Its' a WONNNNNNderful place. They post little notes on the front of the cages, with a "letter" from the dog...makes you want to take all of them home. I know of a chow who got thrown out of the back of a truck on the highway. His hip and leg were shattered. That shelter had him all fixed up at great expense and adopted him out (great dog!!!). They had to exercise him a lot to keep his leg from going stiff, and also medicate him and clean the (really ugly) wound. With all those dogs I was surrprised they could keep up with it, but they did. They also have an auction for the purebred dogs, and a few of the others. I am not sure how the auction works.
14. :o wow! Unbelieveable!!!
15. Oh wow! Thanks aroura for this thread! A few comments.... Hobbit, when you call women "sugar", your southern charm is showing :) I have never heard of an animal whelping at 4 months either...seems like ONE of us would have heard of it if it were true. I have a student whose family "got rid of" their child's cat becuase it became pregnant. (not sure of the method used here  )They then got another cat, also a female, and - surprise!- it got pregnant too so now they have cats and kittens. We live in a county that offers a low-cost spay/neuter program to families that qualify....I'm sure they qualify. Some people are just toooooo stupid. I have called the grandmother and told her about the spay/neuter; hopefully she can get them to do it.
16. I agree....PETA's intentions are good but I don't support their over-zealous actions. We should never hurt people, any more than we should hurt animals!
17. NONE of the dogs look like very good breeding to me. However it does appear to be clean. Did you read the "about us" page? It says that there are 9 people there taking care of the dogs. That still seems like an awful lot of dogs to take care of. I have a hard time with 3, and I can't imagine a litter of puppies as well.
18.
Corgi, I would love to read the article. Are you writing it for a magazine? I would love to do something like that but I am not that proficient in English.
yep...write articles for magazines...I'm not proficient either :)
19. Wow Hobbit that was a good site....friend of yours or did you just find it?
20. Stripping and spay/neuter....both good topics for discussion. I am working on a magazine article about the benefits of early spay/neuter....if any of you can back up what you said with facts(like statistics) or if your vet wouldnl't mind being quoted, I could sure use the help! Email: girlfiddler@yahoo.com Thanks!
21. Wow horsefeathers that's great! Congratulations! Standard poodles are too cool :D :D
22.
Now too many border collies are saddled with people who are just too slow, after all who can keep up with a ZIP ZING dog?
Aha. There's my problem!
23. Has anyone seen the Dogo article about the pekinese (SP?) It was the breed of the moment and it looked like a .... sheep  ... or maybe an angora rabbit. Maybe it's my computer screen (ancient relic) but I am not seeing a DOG there...are you?
24. Now admit it....you just like carrying a big gun  by the way I still cannot register at the Maniac site??? It took my name and had half a sentence about a login, I presume it was supposed to say you'd get your password in an email....does that take forever? cuz I never got it???
25.
however a few cities do use 18 year olds but they are held to a greater standard than the rest.
Deep my son is about one year younger than you sheesh I am so old He is going thru that higher standard stuff and doing quite well. He wanted to be a cop too but right now he is an EMT. His mama thinks that is where he belongs, as his gift is helping others. They told him they thought he was "incompetent" to ride their trucks, etc....I would've walked out....but he calmly said, I ran my first emergency call when I was 15....etc Long story short, he's a favorite around there now.
oh and corgi I'm 20 in feb :D  :)
:D :D :D
